Chapter 64: Li Chang'an's Illusion
To be honest, Li Chang'an's words left Bibi Dong feeling completely lost in a fog. Shapes? Stability? Parallelograms? She didn't understand any of it.
But one thing she was sure of—this disciple of hers had more tricks up his sleeve than she did. It was her sixth sense, or perhaps an inexplicable trust she had in Li Chang'an.
Only after muttering to himself did Li Chang'an realize he might've said too much. He looked at Bibi Dong and saw that she was utterly baffled, which made him breathe a sigh of relief.
Thankfully, thankfully she hadn't caught on. Otherwise, he wouldn't have had the slightest clue how to explain it.
"Chang'an, what were you just saying?" Bibi Dong finally looked up and asked him with wide eyes.
'Sigh, she still asked.'
Li Chang'an scratched his head, unsure how to explain—this stuff dipped a bit into Middle school math!
"In short, Teacher, I've figured out how to break through the encirclement. Just watch!" Li Chang'an raised the Pangu Axe in his hand and charged forward once more!
But this time, his attacks were clearly different. They followed a deliberate pattern—sometimes striking high, other times aiming for the lower left.
As he attacked, the stone golems scrambled to fill in the gaps, and their formation began to shift in response to his strikes.
Under his repeated "trimming" and "reshaping," the massive, oppressive net-like formation in front of them began to transform…
About 15 minutes later, the formation had reshaped into a neat and perfect parallelogram, with equal top and bottom lengths and matching sides.
Now came the moment to witness a miracle!
Li Chang'an hurled the Pangu Axe straight into the center, aiming directly at one of the stone golems.
Nothing could withstand the axe's power. That central golem was instantly pulverized into dust, and the rest of the formation began to tremble.
"Buzz… buzz… buzz…"
As that single golem was destroyed, the entire parallelogram structure began to rapidly collapse—first one corner, then two, then three… finally all four.
Soon, a pile of shattered golems was stacked like a small mountain. Li Chang'an had anticipated this and immediately grabbed Bibi Dong's hand, dashing over the rubble toward the exit.
Just as they made it across, the stone golems began to rise again, quickly reorganizing themselves like programmed machines. But by then, Li Chang'an and Bibi Dong had already reached the exit.
"Teacher, does this mean we've passed the level?" Li Chang'an asked as he continued holding her hand.
Years of closeness, combined with Li Chang'an's performance, made Bibi Dong feel no discomfort at him holding her hand.
"We've passed. The stairs ahead lead to the third level. I just wonder what the reward for clearing this level will be," Bibi Dong nodded, showing no intent to let go of his hand.
Just then, a calm voice echoed in the air:
"Congratulations on passing. Reward for this stage: All soul rings of all participants will have their age increased by 10,000 years."
A soft purple glow enveloped both Li Chang'an and Bibi Dong. They both felt as though something had changed within them—though it was hard to tell exactly what.
'Now that's a reward!'
Li Chang'an gave a silent thumbs-up in his heart. A 10,000-year boost to all soul rings? That was definitely worth all the effort he'd put in.
Bibi Dong smiled at him. "Chang'an, it seems your teacher benefited from your efforts this time."
Li Chang'an only gave her hand a playful squeeze and said, "Don't say that, Teacher. This is as it should be. Let's see what the third floor has in store."
"Alright!" Bibi Dong nodded obediently. In this place, where neither of them could use spirit power or soul skills, Li Chang'an was clearly the stronger of the two. Naturally, she chose to follow his lead.
Besides, with Li Chang'an beside her, Bibi Dong felt truly at ease..
---
The third floor opened up into a lush, verdant world. The moment they stepped in, they were greeted by endless green meadows stretching as far as the eye could see.
It felt nothing like the third floor of the Rakshasa Tower. Instead, it seemed like a small, self-contained world. Even the scent in the air was fresh and fragrant.
"Third Floor: Illusion. Requirement—escape within one hour."
A cold, emotionless voice rang in Li Chang'an's ears, making his whole body tense up.
'An illusion? Seriously?'
"Teacher, any ideas on how we get out of here?" Li Chang'an asked, glancing at the hand he was still holding.
Luckily, Bibi Dong had far more life experience. She studied the scene ahead and replied, "Illusions are designed to recreate your deepest desires—or your greatest fears. To escape, you must overcome whatever it presents to you."
Your deepest fears…?
Li Chang'an raised an eyebrow. He didn't think he was particularly afraid of anything. But his deepest desires…
He glanced at Bibi Dong—and for some reason, a few troubling images came to mind:
A young mother. A young sister-in-law. A gorgeous aunt…
'What the hell is wrong with me?!'
Li Chang'an shook his head hard. 'Am I really that perverted? Just one look at Teacher and this is where my brain goes?'
When he looked up again, the scene had changed.
He now stood in a lavish golden hall, glittering with opulence. Bibi Dong was nowhere to be seen. Instead, the hall was filled with women.
All of them scantily dressed.
There was Bibi Dong again—but this time in her Pope's robes, though the buttons were undone. Qian Renxue in her angelic divine outfit, with her long legs fully exposed.
Mu Xi in a maid outfit. Hu Liena in a pink dress with a swaying fox tail. Xiao Wu in high-heeled crystal shoes, rabbit ears on her head, bending over seductively...
There was also Bai Xue, draped in sheer silk and no undergarments. A black-haired girl in a tight dress, chest as outrageously large as it was sinful. And a woman with flowing, water-blue hair...
'What is this?!'
'Is this illusion trying to reflect my deepest desires? But... is this really what I want?'
Just as Li Chang'an spiraled into self-doubt and confusion, Hu Liena dropped to one knee before him. She stuck out her pink tongue flirtatiously and cooed, "Master, come play with us…"
Her fox tail swayed behind her, teasing and inviting, leaving him utterly shaken.
