Chapter 3 - No Wedding
RAY
I couldn't sleep that night, how could I?.
There was something about her that made me curious. The pain I saw in her eyes, the silent emotions and her response each time I talked about family.
Is she an orphan?
Is she running away from home?
Did she lose her memory, but the doctor said she only had minor injuries.
Lilah was now awake.
"Are you okay?" She asked
"Yes, why?"
"You look worried, if it is about the accident don't worry she'll be fine" she assured me.
Lilah is my childhood friend, we grew up together.
Lived all our lives together well except when I went to Singapore for a business trip that took me 4 years.
I just came back from the trip last week and my family and friends where planning a 'Welcome back ' party for me.
That was the event we were going for before the accident happened.
"I know, just that I feel a degree of empathy for her".
"Ray, she will be fine"
"If we had left her there that night, we would not have been in this mess right now". She said rolling her eyes.
Those words really pissed me off, I didn't know when I yelled at her.
"Where's your heart! She could die, you know right?"
"It is no big deal, Ray.
People die everyday" she replied
At this moment I was even more pissed off than I was initially.
I knew where she was driving to,but I just ignored her because I wasn't ready for it now.
My mind was occupied with the little fragile lady acting strong on the sick bay.
I couldn't just take my mind off her.
I got too curious, so I decided to go through her friends page again.
"Aubrey Weds Williams" was what was written on the wedding flyer that I saw on the page.
Wait, is this her?
I can remember her calling her friend Mia' and the caption that came with the flyer doesn't look like it was her friend's wedding.
My curiosity grew bigger, so I dug deeper into her friend's page.
'Aubrey Richard", she's the one.
Wait, she's the one whose wedding is tomorrow.
Oh my God, I ruined her big day"
I held back my breath as the guilt wash over me.
"What is she going to do now?"
"She doesn't even want to talk about it, why?"
I asked nobody in particular.
I went further digging into the page, my heart racing faster than usual.
"I shouldn't be doing this" I muttered to myself
But I couldn't stop myself from digging further, the more I wanted to stop the more I couldn't.
I try not to pry, but I'm curious about what's going on.
My curiosity got the better part of me, I finally gave in to prying.
I called veto- my personal assistant.
"Veto, I just sent some names to your email, I want all the possible information you can gather about them".
"OK sir" was the response from the other end.
I hung up, finally my mind was at rest.
I looked at her as she stirred in her sleep.
She looks so innocent, fragile and beautiful, but I could tell from the way she reacted to family talks that she has been through a lot especially from family.
I finally got a text from Veto.
I went through it almost immediately.
Mia Bridgetown - The third daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Stone Bridgetown. A Lawyer, she's single but engaged.
Williams Hart (Real name - Williams Ortho) - The first son of Mr. & Mrs. Ortho Hart. CEO of O&H organisation. He was engaged and meant to be married to Miss Aubrey Richard tomorrow, but the wedding has been canceled for some unknown reasons.
He has been on a disguise as Williams Hart and has been living as an imposter for about 6 years now.
"Interesting" I said almost like a whisper before I continued reading.
Aubrey Richard - she's the only daughter of Mr & Mrs Richard Thompson.
(This is the only information I could gather about her, Sir).
"Fuucckk" I whispered.
The most important information I needed is what he couldn't gather.
I picked up my phone and dialed Veto number again.
"Veto, I need all information about her before dawn" I said.
"Sir, she's not on social media, the little information I gathered about her was from her friend's page".
I felt my muscles tense up from the rage burning inside of me.
"No, not now Ray" I whispered trying to control my demons.
"Why?
Why the fuck, am I so concerned about this girl?"
"Sir, are you okay?"
Veto's voice jerked me back to reality, I almost forgot that I was on a call with him.
"Try your best, I need more information before tomorrow" I said before hanging up.
I took a long deep breath to relax my tensed muscles before closing my eyes.
"Raaayyy, please don't leave me"
"I'm not going anywhere"
"Raayy, look back"
"Raayy!
"No, not my Raayy!"
I woke up panting, this was strange.
"A nightmare?"
This was the very first time I was having a nightmare.
What's this nightmare about?
The voice sounded just like Aubrey's voice but I couldn't see the faces clearly.
