Adrianne paled. “Your Highness… it’s too dangerous for you to go alone.”
Nevertheless, Apollonia’s reply remained firm.
“Someone with enough authority to command the Order has to go. There’s no one else I can send.”
“But Count Weihen can…”
“Father sent everyone else other than him on purpose, so it would be practically treason if he goes.”
Adrianne’s lips trembled as she chose her words carefully. “Your Highness… Your safety is what’s most important. You know that.”
She silently pleaded with Apollonia using her emerald eyes. Apollonia understood what she was trying to convey. She was begging her to use reason, and to not put herself in danger over her feelings for Uriel.
“I know,” Apollonia replied, meeting Adrianne’s gaze. She was anxious, but she wouldn’t let her love for Uriel and her worry for Kylion cloud her judgment. “But Adrianne, I’m in even more danger without the two of them.”
