Eva's lashes fluttered, and then she opened her eyes. Sleep still clung to her, but when she saw him, her smile bloomed slow and warm. "You're back," she whispered.
"Sorry I woke you," Alex said.
She blinked at him, amusement glinting faintly in her gaze. "For someone who doesn't do apologies, you seem to be apologizing a lot today."
"Yeah, I know. It's you." The admission left him before he could reel it back.
Her brow furrowed slightly, curiosity stirring. "I don't understand."
He searched her face, every line and angle. "You're doing things to me I don't understand either."
Eva leaned forward instead, closing the sliver of space between them, and kissed him. Her lips were soft and that one touch said what words never could: she was feeling the same. It was far easier for her to admit with her body what she couldn't with her tongue.
