Chapter 3 - Chapter 3... Working late

It was already 7 pm and this boss of hers wasn't ready to let her go home. She had tried persuading him, giving him reasons why she needed to go home early yet he didn't seem to care. As she stared at him, thoughts of how to strangle him filled her mind. She wondered how someone so handsome with those blue eyes, perfect lips, cheekbones and muscular structure which was visible in the black shirt he was wearing with two buttons open could be inconsiderate. She thought it only applied to ugly people, guess it wasn't by beauty or handsomeness.

"Stop staring and do what l asked you to do" a deep voice interrupted her thoughts.

"I wasn't staring." Tiffany argued

"Oh is that so?. I don't mind if you stare but not when you have something else in front of you." Liam said raising up his face to look at her. "We are to go to Mason Thread and Loop company tomorrow for a meeting, an important one at that, by 8 am though l would want to see you here by 7 am. I don't want to hear any stupid excuses. Don't be late."

"Okay sir. I will try not to be late"

"No l would need you to do more than try"

"I won't come late. Yesterday was an emergency."

"By the way how is she now?"

Oh, now you care but you wouldn't allow me to go home, Tiffany was about to say instead she said, "She's okay. Thanks for asking"

"I guess that would be all for today" Liam continued.

"Oh. Finally" Tiffany muttered.

"What did you say?" Liam asked

"Nothing. Goodnight sir".

The following day at the company,

"Can't you knock?" Liam asked looking up.

"Is that how to welcome your best friend?" Leo asked smiling.

"That doesn't mean you should barge iny office whenever you like" Liam said keeping a straight face.

"You know that coldness of yours doesn't affect me so l suggest you take it somewhere else"Leo said sitting on the couch.

"When did you arrive?" Liam asked.

"This morning and as the good friend l am, l decided to pay you a visit".

"I didn't..."Liam was saying before he heard a knock on the door.

"Good morning sir". Tiffany greeted handing him his coffee. She didn't notice the other man on the couch looking at her, surprised.

"Tell Lorrenne to get everything ready. I will be down in a few."Liam told her.

" Okay sir." as she turned to go she saw Leo. She nodded at him and left.

"You didn't tell me you have a new secretary." Leo told Liam

" And why would l give you every update of what happens in my company. It's not like you work here"

"I know why you didn't tell me. That lady is very hot and you don't want her falling for my charm. You want her for only yourself." Leo said grinning.

" Would you stop blabbing rubbish? For your information l keep everything professional between l and my employees."

"Really! That's fine by me. Guess you wouldn't mind giving me her number".

"Get out. I have more important things to do".

"It won't take more than two minutes of your time. Just give..."

"I said, leave my office now".Liam barked.

"Why are you getting angry all of a sudden. Of course l would leave. It's not as if your office suits my taste but l will get her number one way or the other. I might even ask her for it." Leo said, smiling while leaving the office.

"You wouldn't dare" Liam fired back glaring at his back.

Tiffany's Pov...

"How was school today dear?" Tiffany asked her 10 year old daughter.

"It was cool. Miss Lilian said she would like to see you tomorrow."Malia said while munching some chips.

"Oh. Okay." Tiffany said. She knew the reason why her teacher wanted to see her was because of the fees. She had been trying to meet up with all the bills, the remaining hospital bills, Malia's school fees, electricity bills and other things. It wasn't as if her pay wasn't big enough but it wasn't just enough to sort everything. Sometimes she wished she died with her husband so that the burden wouldn't be on her shoulders but then she remembered she had her daughter, her main source of happiness. At 10, she was taller than most of her mates, she also had brown eyes which she inherited from her and long black hair that stopped at her shoulders. Whenever she felt like her world was crumbling down, Malia would always cheer her up even after losing her dad at such a young age. Tiffany vowed to take care of her making sure she lacked nothing.
