Zhai Ge now wished he could grab these disciples by the collars and demand answers. Every single message they had sent said the plan was proceeding as usual, with no abnormalities. And this was called "everything is normal"?
No abnormalities?
Had his comprehension failed entirely?
Zhai Ge could not help but use a communication talisman to check with one of the sect disciples.
Then.
Before his dumbfounded eyes, Yun Jin appeared, smiling as she pulled out that very same talisman.
"Hall Master Zhai, looking for these kids? They're busy. If you have business, come to me," Yun Jin said with a bright smile, casually taking out a stack of communication talismans.
Zhai Ge went silent for a moment.
He gritted his teeth. "All the communications with me these past few days… it was all you?"
"Yes," Yun Jin said helplessly. "They all have their own tasks to complete. These little communications, I can take care of for them."
Zhai Ge drew in a deep breath, then another.
Normally, communication talismans could only be used by the owner.
But then it hit him—Yun Jin had already grasped an entire Primordial Force.
That kind of power could easily override the token's built-in rules, letting her impersonate the real users and send out fake messages.
But this kind of thing could only be done by someone at the level of a Primordial Force master.
And in this world, there were only a handful of those.
Other than Yun Jin, who else would be this damn bored?!
She'd even gone out of her way to chat with everyone, keeping up all the fake conversations so perfectly that the entire sect hadn't noticed a single thing wrong.
Was she even human?!
Yun Jin smiled. "Vice Hall Master Zhai, stop standing there dazed. Come, see for yourself the heroic pose of this Hall Master. After all, what would take you decades to complete, I finished in just a few days. There's a lot you could learn from this."
Zhai Ge was numb. No matter how hard he tried, he could not understand how such a bizarre thing could have happened.
How did Yun Jin do it?
As they spoke, the carefully edited opening sequence finished playing, and on the white screen appeared three giant characters:
"The Yun Jin Saga."
Yun Jin looked on, thoroughly satisfied.
She had realized that Shi Shi was a competent editor, and immediately thought of making a movie. In the past few days, she had been coordinating with Hong Ye while instructing Shi Shi to edit a coherent storyline.
All the footage was real, but with some trimming, a main narrative could easily emerge. Essentially, she was bringing a movie into the cultivation world. If successful, this could be The Yun Jin Saga, then Part II, then Part III… endlessly. Her Emotional Value would skyrocket.
Zhai Ge's expression darkened, but he still watched carefully.
He wanted to see it for himself.
The crowd also stared at the white screen, curious.
The Yun Jin Saga?
Isn't this the Hall Master herself?
Watching Yun Jin's smug, confident demeanor, the crowd fell silent.
Something felt… shameless?
No, no, it must be an illusion.
Luckily, the film began quickly.
Shi Shi's editing was excellent. The opening immediately showed Yun Jin's tense confrontation with the dual-faced demon.
Previously chaotic footage was trimmed and reorganized, creating intense, gripping tension. With the unique soundtrack by Yue Zhao, the film quality was stunning. The overwhelming aura of the dual-faced demon, Yun Jin's compassion when exorcising spirits, her final unstoppable strike—it all shone brilliantly.
Close-ups of Yun Jin's expressions, poses, every angle emphasizing her status as the main female lead, left no detail unshown.
The audience occasionally gasped in amazement. Though the world had recording stones, most cultivators looked down on mortals. They would never go to such lengths to impress humans.
Yun Jin did.
This was tapping into a blank market. For the first time, mortals could witness true Mahayana-level combat. mThe crowd sipped drinks and cheered, completely absorbed. And this was only the beginning.
Shi Shi's editing perfectly displayed Yun Jin's strategies: how she effortlessly tracked demons by sensing their aura, stormed Luoyun Mountain alone, and destroyed the enemy duo.
The narrative alternated between Mingxin Hall disciples' fierce battles and Yun Jin's life-or-death fight, keeping the audience on edge.
At the end, Nie Ming was burned to ashes in Yun Jin's flames.
Uncontrollable cheers broke out.
Zhai Ge… was stunned.
Which sane cultivator would spend so much time recording battles, editing footage, all just to entertain mortals?
Wouldn't it be better to spend that effort cultivating?
This Yun Jin, she was seriously insane.
Meanwhile, Yun Jin's face was nearly frozen in a permanent grin. During the film's showing, her Emotional Value surged wildly, and this was just the first attempt, crude as it was. Next time, with careful filming, professional editing, and added effects…
The film would be magnificent.
Yun Jin decided: next battle, she would bring dedicated photographers and lighting staff. Every moment had to be captured perfectly.
She even regretted not filming sooner.
Before the next shoot, she would have to recite classic lines to excite the audience.
"Thirty years in the east, thirty years in the west", that sort of thing, guaranteed to make people cheer.
She pondered: the upcoming Grand Sect Ranking Conclave could be staged just like this.
Mortals were eager to see cultivators' world, and she could fully display it. Of course, she would remain the absolute main female lead.
"Hall Master Yun was able to defeat He Xi and Nie Ming? Her power has really increased?" Zhai Ge squinted.
Yun Jin smiled faintly. "My strength grows every day. Vice Hall Master Zhai, half a year ago, I was still a mortal."
Zhai Ge clenched his teeth. "Hall Master, you are skilled."
"Just average, the world's best," Yun Jin said smiling.
Zhai Ge's gaze darkened. "Unfortunately, this world is far more complex than you imagine."
"Then please, Vice Hall Master Zhai, let me see for myself," Yun Jin replied calmly. "But before that, I think your efficiency, and that of these sect members, is far too low. It's embarrassing for this Hall Master. Since you're here, why not come back with me to Mingxin Hall? I'll take the effort to properly instruct you."
The sect disciples instinctively glanced at Zhai Ge.
Zhai Ge said coldly, "Then we shall properly heed the Hall Master's instruction."
"Polite, polite," Yun Jin said, then reminded the busy disciples, "The Legend of Yun Jin must play continuously for twelve hours, and keep the snacks and tea flowing."
She also didn't forget to kick the Ling Yun Sect elder who had hidden in the crowd.
The elder was sent flying, crashing into the city wall.
Yun Jin controlled her spiritual power carefully, injuring him but not the wall.
He spat blood, utterly frustrated. His Primordial Soul trembled slightly. This kick would require years of seclusion to recover.
Hadn't he just said she could crash and die?
Yet Yun Jin had nearly made it a reality.
The elder's heart filled with sudden fear.
Messing with a vindictive, unforgiving madwoman—was this really a wise choice?
===
For the movie title, it was originally 云锦传 (Yúnjǐn chuán), literally The Legend of Yun Jin. But I feel it was not boasting and arrogant enough, so I change it into The Yun Jin Saga.
"Saga" implies an epic, sprawling narrative of heroic achievements. It's exactly the kind of grandiose language a narcissistic character would use to describe herself. It's even more grandiose than "Legend" and suggests a multi-part story from the very beginning.
By calling it a "saga," she is not just making a movie; she is creating a legendary mythos around herself. She is placing herself in the same category as the heroes of ancient epics.
It immediately tells the audience that this is a series (a saga has many parts). It also matches her arrogance perfectly. She wouldn't just make a movie; she'd create a saga about herself.
The phrasing "The Yun Jin Saga" puts her name front and center, which is exactly what she would want.
