Chapter 223 - Chapter 226: Fiendfyre Unleashed

Dudley's gaze was focused and solemn as he whispered something under his breath in the ancient language.

Boom!

In the next moment, terrifying flames soared into the sky, transforming into a massive fire dragon that illuminated large swathes of sky and the Forbidden Forest.

Dark red flames released terrible malevolent aura, enveloping hundreds of metres around them.

The moment the fire dragon manifested, it charged forth with fierce intensity, heading straight for Aragog and those giant spiders. Nothing could stop its devouring power wherever it passed.

The fire dragon burnt through the sky, and everything seemed to turn to ash under these flames. It consumed everything that could be burnt, whether spiders, trees, or even the earth itself. All melted under its burning, flowing as dark red lava.

"Dark magic," Hermione said, her face pale with recognition.

In this fire dragon, she felt the ultimate aura of killing and evil. This was advanced magic that only dark wizards would use.

A spell she had once heard of appeared in Hermione's mind.

Fiendfyre.

That's right, the spell before them was almost identical to the Fiendfyre Hermione knew about, whether in terms of aura or destructive power. It had reached or even exceeded the scenes described in books.

"What spell is this?" Ron was already stunned by the scene before him.

He could hardly believe such a spell was released by Dudley's hands. This was a spell cast by a classmate the same age as him!

"Fiendfyre!" Harry also recognised it with shock.

Fiendfyre was actually quite recognisable because the flames formed by this spell had mimetic abilities, able to take the shape of various animals for attack. It would devour everything combustible, and with sufficient magical power and control, even things that couldn't normally burn could be consumed by the fire.

However, this spell belonged to the category of dark magic. They normally couldn't possibly encounter it, only occasionally seeing it in books about dark magic when reading. And mostly in negative teaching materials, such as how dark wizards had used this magic to kill people and the major damage caused when this magic went out of control.

In short, this spell appeared in books with basically no positive descriptions.

After the fire dragon charged forth, it headed straight for Aragog to burn it.

At this point, Aragog noticed the terrifying fire dragon and felt an extremely dangerous aura. But it was too late to retreat now, and it had already been driven mad by fury. Even knowing this spell's power was terrifying, it still charged forward.

Sizzle sizzle sizzle...

The surrounding spiders swept by the fire dragon's flames were almost instantly burnt to ash, while those spiders farther away made unpleasant crackling sounds as they were roasted, their internal moisture rapidly evaporating, leaving only shells trembling continuously.

Boom!

In the next moment, the fire dragon opened its bloody maw and directly swallowed Aragog whole.

Flames raged and violent aura swept the surroundings as Aragog struggled fiercely, trying to tear through the fire dragon and escape.

However, everything was futile.

Aragog was already very old, and combined with Fiendfyre's terrible power, it only lasted about twenty seconds before its body was ignited by the fierce fire and quickly lost its breath.

"Return!" Seeing Aragog burnt to death in the Fiendfyre, Dudley immediately controlled the flames, wanting to recall the fire dragon.

Acromantula corpses were quite valuable, especially their venom. It would be a real pity to destroy them like this.

However, what Dudley hadn't expected was that the giant fire dragon seemed to have lost control, continuing to burn Aragog's corpse and still spreading, wanting to burn everything combustible around it.

"What?" Dudley's expression changed with alarm.

Although this was his first time casting Fiendfyre, he had studied this spell quite thoroughly. He hadn't expected the spell to become uncontrollable at this moment.

"Come back to me!" Dudley again controlled his spiritual power to recall the fire dragon, while terrible authoritative aura released from his body, suppressing the fire dragon's momentum.

Hum!

This time, the fire dragon finally responded, slowly separating from Aragog's corpse and returning to Dudley's wand.

With Aragog's death, the surrounding giant spider ocean that had been like a tide immediately scattered like birds and beasts.

But some of them seemed to want to avenge Aragog and launched a suicidal charge at Dudley's group of four.

However, they had been unable to handle Dudley and the others before, and now without Aragog's command, these spiders' intelligence plummeted. They only knew how to charge blindly, no longer having their previous strategic advance and retreat.

After Harry and the others recovered from witnessing the Fiendfyre, they immediately cast silent spells to attack these spiders, killing all those that dared charge over.

After Dudley recalled the Fiendfyre, he also joined the battle, frantically attacking those spiders that rushed toward them.

In just a few minutes, the battlefield became completely quiet. All spiders had been slaughtered, and Dudley's group didn't pursue those that had escaped into the deeper forest.

The surroundings were filled with the rich smell of roasted spiders, especially Aragog. Its body had been burnt by Fiendfyre, with many parts already cooked, emitting an indescribable smell that was both nauseating and carried a hint of roasted meat fragrance.

"Are we finally done killing them?" Ron asked, completely exhausted.

He felt like he was about to collapse on the ground, his entire body nearly numb, his brain completely blank.

"We should be done. Some ran away," Harry said.

He was gasping for breath, looking at the distant forest where some giant spiders had fled after Aragog's death.

Hermione had already collapsed on the ground, barely able to lift her hands.

In the recent battle, she had been the main force, casting more magic than Harry and Ron combined. At this moment, the magical power in her body was almost depleted; she was too tired to even have energy to speak.

"Well done," Dudley looked at the battle results around them and praised sincerely.

Although Dudley had some trump cards he hadn't used, like the Brass Book and others, facing such a situation, Harry and the others being able to perform to this degree exceeded Dudley's expectations.

Moreover, in this battle against spiders, all three of them had shown powerful magical talent. Facing real mortal threats, they had grown rapidly during combat, using Hermes silent spells with masterful skill. This one technique alone had already left most Hogwarts students far behind.

If it came to sudden sneak attacks, Harry's group now had the ability to threaten adult wizards.

"The depths of the Forbidden Forest? I definitely need to ask Hagrid if he's gone mad!" Hermione finally caught her breath and said with obvious frustration.
