"How dare you!" the girl snarled, sounding more cute than scary. Her hands balled into fists, and she bared her teeth too, face red with anger.
She was like those little dolls my step sister played with. I never thought I would see one in person.
I refrained from snorting or even indulging in amusement.
"I can tell you want to laugh!" she blurted and pointed an accusing finger at me.
"Far from it," I reassured, even though my lips pressed together, sinking slightly inward.
What am I going to do? I can't hold it in. Deep breaths, Eloise, deep breaths!
"Liar!"
I cleared my throat to stifle my laugh. "She's quite untrained, isn't she?" I said to Osha, hoping to be collected and not laugh like a madwoman.
Osha nodded in agreement.
"You...." she stuttered.
"What?" I teased.
"Ugh!" The girl snapped her fan in two and stormed away while muttering a round of curses.
