Lucan swallowed down his mouthful. "The monarch was worried; never seen him that way before." He tipped his head. "He's usually not, not until you came into his life."
"W-Worried about what?"
"It was hard to follow before he ordered me to go guard you."
I rest my arms on the table. "Just tell me what you remember?"
"Well, um..." he trailed, eyeing the pastries.
I rolled my eyes. "Go on."
He smiled and rushed through another plate.
I placed my hand on my cheek, glaring at him. Just when I thought he would take forever to give me what I wanted, he finally talked.
"He wasn't specific to Garrick, but he mentioned something about hurting you."
Hurting me?
"And losing control."
Oh. I thought about his canines and the sting in my mouth. Wait, was he worried about that?
"He needs to shift, too."
"Shift?"
