Chapter 134 - Chapter 134: Tower of Soul Refinement

If Hun Moli had been in her peak condition, this sudden soul attack would've done little to threaten her. But now, already gravely wounded by the explosion of the Demonic Wrath Flame Lotus, she couldn't withstand it. When Xiao Yan's soul body landed a punch on her, she couldn't help but cough out a mouthful of bright blood.

'This brat… was faking it?'

That thought flashed through her mind as her vision spun. She staggered back several dozen steps before she could finally steady herself. It stunned her that Xiao Yan had used his own battered body as bait to lure her in, hiding a trap so well-crafted. His cunning was downright terrifying.

Yet even through the haze of blood, Hun Moli could see that Xiao Yan's true body was extremely weakened. That's why he was relying on his soul power to fight. She knew that no soul could remain detached from the body for long. All she had to do was stall for time—or better yet, capture his body—and Xiao Yan would collapse without needing further action.

But Xiao Yan wasn't oblivious. As his soul floated midair, his expression remained calm yet laced with mockery. If even Hun Moli could understand his condition, how could he not? He had taken a risk, yes, but it was one made with full preparation. Without confidence, he wouldn't dare attempt this maneuver.

Then, under the floating soul body's guidance, a complex hand seal formed between his fingers. At once, an immense surge of soul power erupted from the center of his brow, flooding the air like a river of light. That torrent of energy coalesced high above into a massive translucent tower, stretching over ten meters in height.

"Nine Revolutions Soul Refinement Art—Soul Refinement Tower!"

"Boom!"

The moment the translucent tower solidified, Hun Moli felt her mind waver. Before she could react, the tower crashed down from the sky, trapping her entirely within its glowing walls.

The Soul Refinement Tower wasn't just a gimmick—it was one of the many abilities Xiao Yan had developed for his self-created soul technique, the Nine Revolutions Soul Refinement Art. In his past life, Xiao Yan had refined and reshaped this art countless times, imbuing it with more than just the power to condense Soul Fire. This Soul Refinement Tower was among its most potent soul-based sub-skills.

Encased inside the translucent tower, Hun Moli instantly sensed danger. She could tell this was no random strike. While she recognized the structure was purely formed from soul energy and could theoretically be shattered with enough force, she also knew that doing so would surely damage Xiao Yan's soul in turn. The gamble was clear—who would collapse first?

Before she could begin her assault, however, Xiao Yan's soul body descended to a seated position midair, hands clasped in a distinct formation. A gentle glow ignited from the soul seed within his brow. As waves of soul force surged into the seed, sparks of Soul Fire emerged and poured into the tower below. In seconds, a soul-burning blaze erupted inside the prison, aimed squarely at refining the trapped enemy.

"He wants to refine me?"

Hun Moli's face twisted slightly. She scoffed. Though injured, she was still a five-star Dou Zun. Even if this guy had four Heavenly Flames assisting him, refining her soul was an outrageous ambition. She sat down cross-legged and quickly activated her Dou Qi to protect herself.

But soon, her confidence wavered.

Despite channeling massive amounts of Dou Qi to resist the rising inferno, the burning sensation only grew. The flames weren't scorching her body—they were attacking her soul directly.

"Damn it! Trying to refine my soul? It won't be that easy!"

Realizing the threat, Hun Moli dismissed her outer Dou Qi defenses and began focusing her own soul power inward. Black mist surged from her body as she resisted the Soul Fire's advance. To her relief, this did slow the rate of refinement.

She smirked. 'Xiao Yan's body is weak. He won't last long. Once this tower fades, I'll tear him apart.'

But Xiao Yan's voice rang coldly in the air.

"Hmph. My strength may be a fraction of what it once was, but dealing with you? That's well within my reach."

His hand seal shifted again. From his palm floated an invisible flame—formless and searing. It coalesced into a translucent fire dragon and plunged into the tower.

As soon as the flame entered, the black mist around Hun Moli ignited like dry kindling. Her defenses crumbled, and she let out a chilling scream of pain.

This was not Soul Fire—it was the Falling Heart Flame. Though newly refined, this Heavenly Flame possessed powerful soul-eroding properties. Unlike Soul Fire, it could devastate both spirit and flesh. It bypassed her defenses entirely.

Hun Moli's misfortune was being struck down by a combo she hadn't foreseen. Previously, Xiao Yan wouldn't have dared employ such a drawn-out tactic. His stamina wouldn't hold. But now, with the addition of Falling Heart Flame, his flaw was nullified. The time needed to refine her was drastically shortened.

Already wounded by Xiao Yan's Flame Eyes and later ravaged by the Demonic Wrath Flame Lotus, Hun Moli was on the verge of collapse. With both the Soul Fire and Falling Heart Flame attacking simultaneously, her spirit couldn't hold out. Moments later, the translucent tower shimmered and finally faded from the sky.

Hun Moli gasped as the pressure lifted. But before she could recover from the burning torment, a palm gently settled atop her head. She instinctively looked up—and saw Xiao Yan's cold, emotionless gaze staring back.

"You thought that was the end?"

"You… what are you doing?" Hun Moli's pupils contracted in shock. So that was it—the reason the tower had vanished was because Xiao Yan's soul had returned to his body.

"No need to panic. I won't kill you." Xiao Yan chuckled softly. "I just need you… for a small experiment."

A surge of soul energy erupted from his palm, burrowing into Hun Moli's skull. Her soul, already weakened by the twin flames, had no strength left to resist. Her eyes dulled almost instantly.

Within moments, her memories were laid bare—each strand uncoiling before Xiao Yan like a scroll.

Then came the twist.

Using the powers granted by the Nine Revolutions Soul Refinement Art, Xiao Yan began altering her memories—bit by bit, reshaping her past, rewriting her thoughts.
