Chapter 4.
A month later, the students from B22 all line up inside the arena. Ari stands himself beside Beyce.
"Yo, you seen Saint yet?" Ari whispers to Beyce while Oshoku is presenting all the different classes, the arena is starting to fill out by all the other students and teachers.
"No… I haven't seen him since we got our rankings…" Beyce whispers back nervously.
"Now then, let's announce the matchups. Shall we?" Oshoku says after finishing his introduction,
A big screen shows the list of the 1000 first-year students.
"Everyone, please go up to your respective seats, the only students that are staying are the ones that are fighting." Oshoku announces firmly, the list shows the first two participants of the First-year tournament
Monita #1999 (B22) VS Echo #4367 (B29)
Monita and Echo make their way down to the arena, they stand in front of each other
"It's that scary girl that's holding a teddy bear… Her rank is crazy high, Ari…" Beyce says nervously,
"I bet she wins effortlessly" Ari says confidently while laying back in his chair.
"Dori Dori… I'm gonna finish this quickly, 'kay? Don't you worry… I love you Dori Dori… I love you" Morita says while hugging Dori Dori to her chest, her elegant steampunk type of outfit looking out of place in front of Echo, who is wearing a black half mask fleece with a blue tracksuit, they look like people from completely different spectrums.
"Alright, let's finish this quickly, lady. I don't have all day." Echo says while cracking his neck,
Beretta walks up, and starts the match.
Echo quickly picks up the pace and runs circles around Morita,
(Echo's inner monologue: Psycho bitch can't even see me… eat this!)
Echo lunges towards Monita from behind and connects a kick on Monita's back, sending her flying towards a distant wall in the arena.
He dusts himself off and pulls down his mask,
"Hey Beretta, you can call the match. She's not getting up from that, she could barely react to me" Echo says nonchalantly,
As the smoke clears from the wall's impact. The disheveled Monita walks out of the big hole in the wall,
Monita clutches Dori Dori tightly,
"I'm so sorry Dori Dori… It's not gonna happen again, 'kay? I won't let you get hurt, 'kay?"
Echo looks stunned for a second before pulling up his mask again,
"Bitch doesn't know when to stand down"
Echo blitzes towards Monita at a rapid pace once again,
But Monita does a hand sign with Dori Dori,
"Voodoo Style: Nail Corpse."
4 big nails suddenly appear on Echo's knees and elbows as he's pacing at Monita, Echo loses balance and crashes into the wall, Echo is panicking while the nails are piercing his joints,
"We are so strong Dori Dori." Monita says innocently and happy while dancing around with Dori Dori,
Meanwhile, Echo is screaming and screeching in pain, Beretta teleports to Echo and removes the nails with Mana
"I'm calling this match, winner, MONITA." Beyce looks terrified at the scene at hand.
"Geez, wouldn't want to be up against her… looks scary" Ari says while still laying back in his chair comfortably.
"N-no kidding" Beyce says, still looking terrified and shocked
Monita makes her way back to her seat nonchalantly, her face is back to her usual, unexpressive self.
As some medics finish, carrying Echo away, Beretta clears his throat and the next match gets announced on the big screen.
Kevo #3883 (B22) VS Beyce #4568 (B22)
"Kevo? Who's that? You know him?" Ari asks intrigued,
"No clue" Beyce responds,
"Well, go out there and win… see you in the finals, champ" The two fist bump before Beyce makes his way down to the arena.
Beyce steps up and starts stretching,
"Let's have a good fight, Kevo" Beyce says after he finishes stretching, reaching for a handshake,
"I don't want to fight you… I don't want to hurt anyone" Kevo says, peeking shyly at Beyce from inside his hoodie.
Beyce looks at Kevo confused,
"Begin." Beretta announces.
Beyce jumps backwards, creating distance from Kevo,
(Beyce inner monologue: This guy is weird… his rank is way higher than mine though… he's gotta be crazy strong, I can't underestimate him)
Beyce lunges forward, throwing jabs and kicks, testing the waters, but Kevo is dodging and blocking all of his attacks with ease,
Beyce jumps back again,
"Very well then, I have no choice." Kevo takes his hoodie off and makes a handsign, holding his hands together.
Beyce's eyes widen,
(Beyce's inner monologue: He has an ability, I can't let him pull that off!)
Beyce takes off rapidly and holds Kevo's hands away from each other, Beyce swings and throws Kevo across the arena flying,
Kevo regains balance in the sky and puts his hands together but Beyce is already in the air with him, Beyce axe kicks Kevo in the shoulder, sending him crashing down.
(Beyce's inner monologue: At this rate I'll win!)
Beyce starts smiling as he lands some meters away from the smoke, when the smoke is cleared, Kevo is standing up, hands held together
"Thunder Style: Flashing Rage."
Kevo's arms start lighting up with electricity,
Before Beyce even knows it, Kevo is behind him, and sends Beyce flying across the arena, a loud crash wakes the arena crowd up, making them erupt with cheers,
Beyce steps out of the broken wall, injured, Beyce wipes the blood from his mouth while breathing heavy
Beyce revs up a punch and punches the floor, making smoke cover the battleground,
Kevo's eyes widen
(Beyce's inner monologue: Gotta hinder his movements, I can't trade blows with him… I gotta buy time- he found me!?)
Kevo throws a gut punch at Beyce, his ability enhancing the damage, sending Beyce crashing into another wall once again.
"Not looking good Beyce…" Ari says as he watches the match intently.
Beretta steps up to Beyce,
"Can you continue or are you giving up?"
Beyce stands up, strugglingly,
"I can't lose here…" Beyce gets into fighting position once again.
"Hit me with all you got! Because I'm never going down!" Kevo frowns,
(Kevo's inner monologue: Why is he still going? He can't win…)
"Very well, resume" Beretta announces.
