Chapter 63 - Ch 63 The Ancient Lord’s Awakening

The tunnel narrowed before opening into a vast subterranean cavern — a hidden chamber untouched for centuries. The air was heavy, ancient, almost sacred. Crystals jutted out from the walls, their faint luminescence reflecting on the smooth stone.

In the center of the cave, resting upon a bed of fossilized rock, lay a massive winged creature — its stony hide cracked yet pulsing faintly with life.

Alex's eyes widened slightly.

"…A living fossil."

Delia and Misty froze where they stood. Even Rena's expression turned grave as she sensed the immense aura sleeping within.

Slowly, Alex activated his Supreme Eyes, the divine glow in his pupils reflecting the creature's slumbering form.

Alex's lips curved into a faint smile. "So even time couldn't erase you…"

He turned to his companions. "Stay quiet. Any sudden noise could—"

Before he could finish, a pebble rolled down from a ledge, striking the cavern floor.

The Aerodactyl's eye snapped open.

Its roar shook the chamber, a deep and thunderous sound that sent dust cascading from the ceiling. A gust of wind burst outward as it spread its wings, massive and jagged like living stone.

"Rena," Alex said calmly, unflinching in the face of the beast's fury, "wake him gently."

Rena stepped forward, her hand glowing with soft psychic energy. A gentle wave brushed across the Aerodactyl's mind — an attempt to soothe.

Instead, the ancient dragon's instincts flared.

It screamed in anger, firing a Dragon Beam that cut through the air like a torrent of molten power.

"Block it," Alex ordered simply.

Rena's eyes flashed. A transparent barrier of psychic light materialized, deflecting the beam harmlessly into the stone wall.

The shockwave trembled through the cave — Misty and Delia shielded their faces as dust filled the air.

Alex, however, remained calm. His gaze hardened as he unclipped another Poké Ball from his belt.

"Enough. If it's battle you want…"

He threw it forward.

> "Stormborne Gyarados — awaken."

The cavern exploded with light.

A deafening roar followed, and the temperature dropped as thunderclouds formed within the cavern itself. Bolts of lightning crackled across the ceiling.

From the light emerged a colossal figure — scales shimmering between sapphire and silver, eyes burning with electric fury. Its aura was divine, oppressive, alive with storm energy.

Gyarados — Stormborne Dragon God Form

The ancient Aerodactyl froze for just a second, recognizing power that rivaled its own era — a dragon of gods, born of tempest and thunder. But pride and rage overtook fear. With another furious roar, it took flight, circling the cavern like a phantom from prehistory.

"Stormborne, let's test our strength," Alex commanded, his voice low but steady. "No divine power — only your true might."

The dragon god roared in acknowledgment, sparks rippling across its body.

The battle began.

---

Aerodactyl dove first, wings glowing with metallic sheen.

"Iron tail !" Alex called.

Gyarados twisted its massive body, avoiding the first strike before countering with a Maelstrom Spiral — torrents of water and draconic energy surged upward, trapping the Aerodactyl midair.

The ancient beast screeched, fighting the current, wings beating furiously as shards of stone fell from its body. It retaliated with Ancient Power, launching boulders infused with primal energy.

Alexs eyes sharpened. "Stormborne, Storm God's Eye!"

Gyarados's gaze flared with divine light — every ability on the field nullified, and his stats surged in response.

Electric energy crackled through the flooded air.

"Now — Heavenbreaker Tempest!"

The cavern illuminated in a blinding flash as a pillar of lightning crashed down, enveloping Aerodactyl in pure electric-dragon force. The ground quaked. When the light faded, the ancient lord fell, wings trembling, then slowly bowed its head.

The storm quieted. Water dripped softly from the cavern ceiling.

Alex approached, his expression calm but respectful. "You've fought well, ancient one. Rest no longer — fly again, with me."

He threw an Ultra Ball. It struck true — a flash of light swallowed the Aerodactyl, and after a few tense seconds, the ball clicked.

Capture successful.

Delia let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding.

"That was… unbelievable."

Misty's eyes sparkled. "That wasn't a battle — that was like watching legends fight!"

Alex smiled faintly, retrieving the Ultra Ball. "We just earned ourselves a new companion from another age."

Rena stepped beside him, her aura calm once more.

"The ancient one recognized your spirit," she said softly. "That's why it yielded."

Alex nodded, glancing toward the sleeping ball. "Then it seems even time itself still honors strength."

The storm clouds faded, leaving behind the quiet echoes of a mountain that had witnessed gods and legends clash once again.
