Chapter 200 - His Touch

Hailee's POV

"I shouldn't have done that," he whispered again, like saying it twice would make it true.

"I shouldn't have let you," I whispered back. But even as I said it, I held onto his shirt tighter. I couldn't let go. He felt like the only safe thing in a world that wanted to break me.

The fire popped and cracked. Shadows danced across his face. His eyes were stormy, filled with a hunger that scared me and thrilled me at the same time.

Before I could think, he kissed me again. Harder this time, deeper, like he had been waiting forever to do it.

I gasped into his mouth, but he swallowed the sound. His hands held my face, tilting me so he could take more. My body pressed close to him, aching. His tongue touched mine, first slow and then demanding, and I melted in his arms.

Heat built in my belly. My hands roamed his chest, grabbing his shoulders to pull him closer, though he was already against me. The kiss grew messy, full of everything we had never said.
