"Who are you speaking with?" Kiara asked as she approached closer.

Philip forced a smile to mask his suspicion and answered, "Oh, I was just talking to my brother."

"Really? But why are you acting weird?"

"Weird?" he asked, and she nodded her head in agreement.

"Of course. The moment you noticed my presence, you instantly ended the call." She explained.

He feigned a smile. "For how long have you been here?" he asked.

"Not up to a minute though." She was quick to respond, not knowing his reason for asking.

"Well," he exhaled a deep sigh and went on, "I was actually speaking with my brother when he raised a topic that got me upset." He lied.

"It's fine. I thought..."

"Did you hear any of our conversation?" He asked, panicking that Kiara had heard their conversation.

"Not at all. I was just curious when you were taking longer to come back to the sitting room, so I decided to come and check if all was well," she responded with a tone of sincerity.
