In the Rorsted Sea, the sky suddenly darkened, and a whimpering wind rose. A powerful and terrifying spirit, mixed with doubt and anger, "scanned" the entire sea area.
A moment later, "Sea King" Jahn Kottman withdrew his gaze from scanning the entire sea area.
He silently looked towards the Sonia Sea, his azure eyes suddenly profound, as if seeing the constant lightning striking from the horizon in the distance, and feeling the wrath from the Lord of Storms.
"Who has angered my Lord, causing divine punishment to descend?"
"The recent sea has become increasingly turbulent. Kalvetua also seems to be acting strangely."
Jahn Kottman's voice gradually deepened. He sat quietly before the Storm Holy Emblem, his eyes slightly closed, awaiting any potential aftermath of the events.
Symeem Island.
Klein, who had just boarded the ferry and was preparing to return to Bayam, paused slightly. He looked with some confusion towards the sea to the northeast, where the sky was clear, without any unusual phenomena.
Did I just hear thunder? He murmured to himself in confusion, then, holding the newspaper, he sat quietly in his seat, planning to find an opportunity to divine above the Gray Fog once the ferry departed.
As soon as the thought emerged in his mind, he suddenly felt a powerful and terrifying gaze, filled with anger, "scanning" this sea area.
Rip!
The newspaper in his hand was instinctively torn at a corner by his forceful grip.
What happened? That feeling of being spied on just now—no, it was a blatant scan, searching the entire sea area. Was it the Church of the Lord of Storms's cardinal known as the "Sea King" searching for something?
After a brief thought, Klein pulled a gold pound from his pocket and casually twirled it in his hand.
While avoiding the gaze of others, it popped out with a 'clang!' and he caught it again.
He performed a simple divination and received a result indicating no danger.
Phew~ Although such divination may not be accurate, it at least provides some peace of mind.
In a deep part of the Sonia Sea.
Leyton looked at the lightning that showed no sign of stopping, then turned to Sasrir and quietly asked:
"With this level of attack, will the soul of Cohinem you shepherd not be destroyed?"
Sasrir shook his head slightly, saying indifferently:
"As long as the Beyonder characteristic remains, it's fine. At my level, the soul is no longer a necessary condition for grazing. I can fully vitalize and shepherd the characteristics of a Calamity."
I thought you'd say that a Calamity has stronger resistance to lightning and can completely withstand it, Leyton muttered inwardly.
Then he heard Sasrir's reply:
"Cohinem's risky act of stirring the self of the part of consciousness I shepherd was to commit suicide and simultaneously expose me to Leodero's gaze."
Leyton nodded lightly, then asked with some curiosity:
"Do you intend to take that Calamity characteristic from his gaze?"
The Folk of Rage you speak of will strike all the way from the Sonia Sea to the Southern Continent!
Sasrir shook his head slightly, speaking a name in a flat voice:
"Hidden Sage."
"The Aurora Order cannot yet become a joint target for the three major Churches."
Leyton looked at Sasrir with surprise, then replied jokingly:
"The Aurora Order has long been a joint target for all Churches."
His interactions with Sasrir made him feel that this former Left Hand of God, Viceroy of Heaven, was very easy to get along with, and he was no longer as reserved as he had been at first.
Sasrir was silent for a moment, then said with a rather helpless tone:
"Whether from their respective stances or the Aurora Order's way of doing things, being hostile to the Orthodox Churches is inevitable."
As soon as Sasrir finished speaking, Leyton saw the electric light covering the entire seabed gradually dissipate. At the original location of Cohinem's Spirit Body, only specks of azure light slowly gathered.
The gathering specks of light seemed to be drawn by their position and began to float upwards.
Sasrir raised the staff held in his right hand and gently threw it forward.
The staff instantly left his hand, transforming into a tangible shadow that shot out of the Spirit World, enveloping the constantly gathering light. Like a shadow curtain, it isolated it from the outside world.
An angry gaze pierced the Spirit World, heading towards Leyton and Sasrir's location.
Leyton immediately chanted the Hidden Sage's honorific name:
"Sage who perceives the world, eye that peers into truth, embodiment of endless knowledge and numerology!"
The calm Spirit World suddenly filled with whimpering winds, accompanied by flashes of lightning, and a constantly brewing aura of destruction spread all around.
The surrounding areas of the Spirit World became terrifying, as if merely stepping into them would lead into an abyss of destruction.
Leyton couldn't help but swallow, turning to Sasrir beside him and asking:
"Are you sure the Lord of Storms won't discover you?"
Sasrir nodded lightly:
"Although I don't possess authority over Concealment aspects, shadow is inherently linked with concealment, and that Folk of Rage does not possess authority related to foresight or scrying."
Responding to Sasrir's words was the continuous descent of lightning. Some of it struck the shadow curtain covering the Calamity characteristic, while other parts landed in the surrounding Spirit World area.
Unable to find the hidden target, the Lord of Storms decisively chose a carpet bombing, allowing a thunderous forest filled with tyrannical destruction to envelop everything around.
Accompanying the lightning was a "light" that could not be directly observed by the naked eye.
This light had no physical form, as if composed of complex information streams, moving like a torrent in an illusory state.
It disregarded the rolling lightning, transcended spatial distance, and instantly enveloped the location of Leyton and Sasrir.
Leyton felt himself being carried away from the Spirit World, arriving in the deep sea, yet he felt no presence of the surrounding seawater, as if the two did not exist in the same dimension.
The illusory light swallowed the Calamity characteristic covered by the shadow curtain, then, enduring the might of the lightning, rushed into the Spirit World, surging like a torrent into the distance.
The power from the Concealment allowed the Lord of Storms to quickly lose track of the Hidden Sage.
"Hidden Sage... Hmph!"
A cold snort echoed from high above, carrying rolling thunder, and the entire sea area's weather darkened due to his wrath.
Bayam, Blue Wind Inn.
Due to the Church of the Lord of Storms's recent investigations, Danitz had stayed in his inn room and hadn't gone out. Even his meals were brought up by the inn's attendant after layers of disguise.
Danitz looked through the glass window at the suddenly darkened sky outside, murmuring with some worry and confusion:
"What happened again today? That obvious 'scan' just now, it's very much like the method of the Church of the Lord of Storms's 'Sea King' that the Captain mentioned."
"Gehrman just happened to go out; he wasn't discovered and then got into a fight with the Church of the Lord of Storms, was he?"
"I should find a chance to leave Bayam, which has become dangerous. But the Captain hasn't contacted me yet, and I don't know where the Golden Dream is now."
Bugs Bunny, sprawled on the sofa, glanced at Danitz, who was talking to himself, and curled his lip in disdain:
"Gehrman won't be discovered. His disguise is almost flawless. Unless it's someone very familiar with him, they won't find any issues at all."
"Flawless? Is he some kind of makeup expert?"
Danitz turned to look at Bugs Bunny, his eyes shifting slightly. He leaned closer, forcing a fawning smile on his face, and said:
"Handsome Mr. Rabbit, do you think Gehrman trained in an assassin organization? He exudes a cold, terrifying aura."
Bugs Bunny looked at Danitz with contempt and said:
"Your method of probing for information is too clumsy; even a three-year-old wouldn't fall for it!"
This damned fat rabbit, can't he speak properly! Danitz gritted his teeth, returning Bugs Bunny's contemptuous gaze and saying:
"Then why do you think Gehrman Sparrow didn't take you with him when he went out? Did he find you too troublesome, or is he hiding some secret from you?"
Bugs Bunny looked at Danitz with the gaze one would use for an imbecile, his voice filled with blatant disdain:
"I'm a rabbit. If he took me with him when acting under different identities, wouldn't that expose himself?"
Danitz froze for a moment, then walked to a nearby armchair and lay down quietly. It's over, I feel like I'm not as intelligent as a rabbit. Captain, I'll never skip morning classes again!
Oravi Island, the outermost island of the Rorsted Archipelago.
A "light" that could not be seen by most Beyonders emerged from the Spirit World. It seemed to be composed of complex information streams, descending upon Oravi Island like a torrent in an illusory form.
As the "light" dissipated, Leyton and Sasrir's figures were revealed.
This "light" once again submerged into the Spirit World, moving like a torrent, and quickly disappeared from visible sight.
"Grazing a Calamity characteristic can give me many more means when facing Beyonder abilities in the Sun domain."
Sasrir's tone even carried a hint of pleasure.
In his hand, a radiant blue light transformed into a dark blue staff, which he casually held.
Leyton turned his head to look at the other party, chuckling:
"Are you planning to shepherd a Sun Pathway Angel?"
"If there's an opportunity, I wouldn't mind grazing a Sun Pathway Angel."
Sasrir replied very calmly.
"There will be opportunities."
"As the apocalypse approaches, conflicts among the gods will also intensify. The War of the Gods might erupt at any time."
Leyton responded with great certainty. After a slight pause, he brought up a new topic:
"Do you have time to accompany me to the deep sea again? I need some help."
Sasrir looked at Leyton with a hint of doubt upon hearing this, then nodded lightly:
"I can."
