Seraphina's POV
"Lyric!" My scream almost cut the chamber as his small body fell into my arms, glowing faintly like the dying embers of a fire. My wolf howled within me, clawing, strong, and powerless.
"Wake up, baby, please wake up!" I put my ear on his chest, I was so desperate and scared.
For some time, I did not hear anything, then I heard a faint sound from his heart.
"Seraphina, he still breathes, but he is pulled, the vision had dragged him too deep." Zevryn said, even though his voice was breaking under the weight of what we had just seen.
"No, he is just a child, he should not be bearing this. He shouldn't…" I shook my head, tears were falling hot and useless.
"Seraphina."
It was Kira's voice, she knelt beside me, she was steady where I was breaking, her sharp eyes were softened for once. She placed her palm on Lyric's tiny arm, her own breath was shaking as she felt the faint beating of the heart.
"I swore my blade to him already, but it is not even enough."
