Soubu High School
Morning classes ended.
Just before the lesson finished, Hiratsuka Shizuka called for Su Yu.
In the Hallway
"Shizuka-sensei, where are we going?" Su Yu asked as he followed her.
"In addition to being the Servant Club's advisor, I am also the Student Council's advisor," Hiratsuka replied.
"Are you trying to get me to join the Student Council?" Su Yu blinked.
"I want you to become the Student Council President." Hiratsuka glanced at him.
"As far as I know, becoming Student Council President requires student votes, right? I don't exactly have time to go around gathering support."
"Do you know about the Cultural Festival?" Hiratsuka asked, as if she had anticipated his response.
Su Yu nodded.
It was a common event in anime—usually taking place after summer vacation.
"Soubu High's Cultural Festival is organized by the Student Council. Each class selects an Executive Committee Representative to coordinate.
I want you to first join as Vice President and take charge of the Executive Committee during the festival.
Once the festival is successfully completed, the current President will step down for 'academic reasons'… and naturally, you'll be the next President."
Hiratsuka explained it briefly.
"This doesn't sound very ethical," Su Yu commented.
"If the Student Council President wants to resign, the Vice President is the natural successor.
It's perfectly reasonable." Hiratsuka smiled.
"Fine," Su Yu stopped questioning.
Typically, a Student Council President only steps down if they commit a serious mistake.
But at Soubu High, the Student Council wasn't that powerful.
So if the President left and the Vice President took over, no one would really complain.
If it weren't for the anime, Su Yu wouldn't have even known who the Student Council President was.
Outside the Student Council Room
Hiratsuka opened the door without knocking.
Inside, Tōjō Kaoru—the current Student Council President—was just about to start eating lunch.
"Where is everyone else?" Hiratsuka frowned as she stepped inside.
"They… um, probably had other things to do," Kaoru averted her gaze.
"Even if the Student Council doesn't have much work, members have a responsibility to be here.
This afternoon, inform everyone that from now on, they must report to the Student Council every lunch break.
If they can't, tell them to resign." Hiratsuka's voice was cold.
"I… I understand." Kaoru nodded weakly.
"You're really a terrible President… but forget it. I know you're trying your best," Hiratsuka sighed.
Managing the Student Council with Kaoru's personality was already difficult.
She couldn't demand too much.
"Shizuka-sensei, who is this?" Kaoru finally noticed Su Yu.
"He is your successor.
You've been saying you wanted someone to replace you—well, here he is."
Hiratsuka patted Su Yu's shoulder.
"Really?! That's great!"
Kaoru's eyes lit up—
Like someone who had been trapped for years and finally saw an exit.
"Hello, I'm Su Yu," he greeted.
"I'm Tōjō Kaoru. Nice to meet you."
"From now on, he will be Vice President.
Your job is to help him get familiar with Student Council work.
And then…"
Hiratsuka began explaining their tasks.
Su Yu listened calmly.
Kaoru, on the other hand, looked nervous—
She even took out a notebook to write everything down.
Just as Hiratsuka finished,
Kaoru's stomach growled.
Su Yu looked at her.
Kaoru's face turned red, and she lowered her head.
"Alright, if you have any questions, just come see me."
Hiratsuka pretended not to hear Kaoru's stomach, patted Su Yu's shoulder, and left.
The door closed behind her.
Kaoru slowly looked up.
"Su Yu-kun, you… you haven't eaten yet, have you?
If you don't mind, I can share my bento…"
"No need.
My girlfriend will bring me lunch.
For now, I want to look at the club records and budget reports."
Su Yu shook his head.
"They're all here."
Kaoru opened a drawer, pulling out a file and handing it to him.
"You organized this yourself?"
Su Yu noticed that all the writing was in the same handwriting.
"The members submit reports, and I just compile them," Kaoru said quietly.
"I see."
Su Yu started reading through the files.
Soubu High didn't have many clubs—or rather, only a few received funding.
The soccer club and tennis club were the biggest.
Especially the soccer club, which even competed in tournaments.
They never won any awards, but their budget was still the highest.
There were also interest groups—like the Service Club—which had no funding and only an activity room.
Overall, the Student Council's work wasn't difficult—
It just required some time.
"Su Yu-kun, Student Council work isn't hard.
It just takes dedication.
I can help you for a few months, but after the Cultural Festival, I need to focus on exams."
Kaoru's voice was soft.
"To be honest, I'm not that interested in being Student Council President."
Su Yu closed the file.
"Eh?" Kaoru froze.
"But—I do know someone who might want the job."
30 Minutes Later—Student Council Office
"Are you interested in becoming Student Council President?"
Su Yu looked at Iroha Isshiki.
"Senpai… what did you just say?"
Iroha stared at him in shock.
"I think you'd do great as Student Council President.
You can start as Vice President, and after the Cultural Festival…"
Su Yu repeated Hiratsuka's plan.
"Why me?"
Iroha was tempted, but still asked.
"Of all the underclassmen I know—
You're the most capable.
I believe in you."
Su Yu patted her shoulder.
"Senpai… how many underclassmen do you actually know?"
Iroha squinted suspiciously.
Su Yu leaned in and whispered in her ear.
Iroha's eyes widened—
Then she smiled brightly.
"Senpai, I accept!"
"Great. I'll teach you how the Student Council works."
Su Yu picked up the file and started explaining.
Right Before Lunch Break Ended
Iroha finally left.
Su Yu and Kaoru were the last ones in the room.
As they walked out, Kaoru suddenly asked:
"What… exactly did you say to Iroha-chan?"
"I said I'd personally fund the Student Council office—
Adding a sofa, fridge, fruit, and desserts."
Su Yu answered casually.
"..."
Kaoru's face showed pure shock.
After a moment, she looked at him with expectation.
Su Yu saw her expression—
And smirked.
"Kaoru-senpai, I have a proposal…"
