"Yes, but you also thought that the safest place for me was at the Dursley's, that ended with me putting with years of abuse only to be attacked by a dark and very dangerous wizard in broad daylight." Harry replied. Dumbledore made a face at the reminder, he had not yet told Harry why this Apophis was able to attack him, If Apophis was truly a creation of Harry's blood along with Voldemort who also had Harry's blood in him then it made sense for the blood wards to not hold him back. Dumbledore was tempted to tell Harry now but decided to hold off until he could have time to properly weigh up the pros and cons of telling him. "Anyway, like I was saying, I was out in Diagon Alley when I ran into Fleur."
"You mean Miss Delacour? The Beuaxbaton Triwizard champion?" Dumbledore asked.
"Yes, the very same." Harry nodded. "Anyway she asked if she could visit, I told her I would ask Sirius, I came back and asked Sirius if she could come. Sirius agreed."
"Sirius," Dumbledore said. "do you not think you should talk with me before allowing someone else access to the house?"
"Oh, I did not know that I needed your permission to invite someone into my own house." Sirius said, narrowing his eyes at Dumbledore.
"I apologise Sirius, that is not what I meant," Dumbledore said, backpedalling before Sirius could get more angry. "I am merely saying that this building, while your house, is also the headquarters for the order. As leader of the order I should at least be made aware if there is someone else who can access the building, what if you had told someone the secret without letting me know and they kidnapped you and tortured the location out of you? All I ask is to be informed if somebody is aware of this location."
"I understand that Dumbledore, but first of all I never intended to keep it from you as I am well aware that Mrs Weasley would have told you anyway," Sirius said, he was a little surprised that the woman had not already told Dumbledore but thought that it was likely because she was probably still fussing over Granger. "besides she was trusted by Harry and therefore she is trusted by me."
"Very well," Dumbledore sighed, knowing it was better to not argue. "perhaps you could continue with your story Harry."
"Fine," Harry replied. "I go out with Sirius the next day, Tonks came with us as well, we meet Fleur and all four of us spent some time together before we came home. When we came back, we heard a scream and go upstairs to my room where we find Hermione on the floor. Mr Weasley said he saw her fall and drop a book, this very specific book," Harry said as he tapped the Potter family grimoire. "a book that she was told not to read."
"Perhaps Miss Granger had simply picked it up and..."
"Nope," Harry cut Dumbledore off, "simply touching or picking the book up does not activate its defences. Watch this." Harry said as he placed the book in Sirius's hands carefully, making sure to not accidently open it, Harry let go and Sirius sat still for several seconds straight without moving a single muscle. "See," Harry said as he took the book back. "you have to open it."
"Hmm," Dumbledore hummed while stroking his beard. "maybe Miss Granger did not realise that it was..."
"Sorry to interrupt but yes she did," Harry cut Dumbledore off. "Granger always reads the titles of books before she opens them, she knew what she was reading and she knew that she was not supposed to read it. The Grimoire defences activated and she ended up in hospital."
"Hmm," Dumbledore stroked his beard once more with a thoughtful expression on his face. "perhaps I could examine the book and..."
"No." Harry said immediately, stopping Dumbledore from finishing his sentence.
"Harry my boy I will not open it, I will simply just..."
"No, you can not examine my family grimoire." Harry interrupted as he protectively held the book. "Sirius is my godfather and I did not like even letting him touch it."
"I understand the connection and importance a grimoire has to a family," Dumbledore responded. "but perhaps with just a few simple spells I will be able to come up with a way to counter the damage done to Miss Granger's arm."
"You would not be able to even if I did let you take my grimoire," Harry replied. "you are not touching it. Move on."
"If you insist," Dumbledore said, looking very disappointed in Harry. "I understand that you kicked Miss Granger out of the house Sirius."
"I have," Sirius nodded. "what she did is a horrible crime that could very well lead to her being sent to Azkaban or to her death if people were to find out. I think kicking her out but still offering to pay for a place for her to stay is nicer than anything anyone else would do."
"Mrs Weasley has expressed some concerns about allowing her children to return here," Dumbledore said in a soft voice. "Miss Granger was not only harmed but harmed and then kicked out."
"Because she could not obey the simple law of 'no touch'." Harry responded. "Sirius and I are not in the wrong here and we will not act or pretend that we were, Granger got off lucky and she knows it."
"Is there nothing I can do that will convince you to change your mind about letting Mis Granger return?" Dumbledore asked.
"Nothing we can think of." Sirius replied. "My decision is final Dumbledore."
"If you are sure," Dumbledore said as he stood up. "you remember that there will be an order meeting tonight?" Dumbledore asked Sirius.
"Yes, I do." Sirius nodded.
"I will see you there. Goodbye Sirius, goodbye Mr Potter." Dumbledore said before he walked off.
