Kendrick jerked awake with a violent gasp, his heart drumming wildly like someone who had just been pulled out of a lake.
For a moment, he didn't even know where he was. His lungs expanded painfully as he shot upright in bed, eyes darting around the familiar walls of his bedroom.
"My bedroom?!" He exhaled, confused. Then he winced as a sharp sting shot across the side of his neck.
His hand flew to the tender spot, fingers brushing over a small, needle-like bruise.
"What the…?" He muttered as a cold realization washed over him.
"Did she drug me and carry me down here?" He raked his hands through his hair, wondering how Hiraya managed to transfer him from his study to his bedroom.
