Chapter 128: Tower Sniping Success
"There really were players lying in ambush."
Returning to the top of the wall in a gliding motion, Konan's expression was grim. She said to two clan officers, "Call back all players to the clan territory. Get ready for an enemy assault."
Aside from the Kirigakure players, there were also Iwagakure shinobi and several rogue players.
They were gathering gradually, moving toward the Dawn Clan territory with a menacing aura.
"They've stopped buying hearts and adhesives, which means Kirigakure likely has no reward points left."
Konan thought quickly.
This ambush revealed that the Mist Clan was low on funds. As long as they could survive the assault, the special reward would be firmly theirs.
The only problem: Dawn had just a few hundred players, while the opposing side had close to a thousand.
It was going to be a brutal fight.
"Upgrade the wall."
Without hesitation, Konan spent more reward points. A faint white light enveloped the walls.

"Energy Defense Boost."
"Energy Defense Boost."
"Physical Defense Boost."
The majority of the attackers were Mist players, who specialized in water magic—most of them water-type mages.
Then came Iwagakure's fighters, clad in tough rock-based melee builds.
Konan upgraded the wall three times in quick succession, burning through 80,000 reward points in an instant.
Even Akatsuki, with years of accumulation, was nearly broke after recent events. Kakuzu, their money man, had already been killed by Mei Terumi. Level 3 was the absolute limit they could afford for the wall.
On the other side,
Mei Terumi, clad in crimson mage robes, threw out a teleportation scroll worth 20,000 reward points.
Buzz.
A dazzling teleportation circle appeared several hundred meters away from Dawn's territory.
Large Teleportation Scroll.
Once activated, it summoned a long-range teleportation array lasting 30 minutes.
Each teleportation consumed energy points. Once depleted, the array would vanish unless recharged with energy materials.
[Teleportation Circle]
Level: Lv.1
Durability: 50/50
Remaining Energy: 300/300
"Whoever breaks Dawn Clan's monument gets 100,000 reward points!"
Floating mid-air, Mei's voice, infused with explosive flame energy, echoed into every player's ears—radiating heat and overwhelming force.
100,000 reward points!
Even common players, let alone minor factions, were drooling with desire.
"Dawn may be strong, but they've only got a few hundred players. There's no way they can hold off Kumo and Iwa combined!"
"We don't need to beat their players, just destroy their monument. Stay out of my way!"
The atmosphere exploded with excitement.
After all, nothing excited players more than the prospect of fat reward points. Even if they were cannon fodder, the potential payoff made it worth it.
"Let's go, brothers!"
A Mist melee mage dashed forward, surfing on a stream of blue water. In a flash, he reached the wall.
Dozens of players followed behind him, glowing brightly from speed-enhancing buffs.
"Archers, ready!"
Forty players stood on the wall, pulling longbows from their backs and quickly nocking arrows.
Dawn's trained archer squad.
Compared to melee units, archers were incredibly expensive to develop.
It came down to soul potential.
Finding melee-inclined players was easy. But those with the soul potential for ranged combat were rare. Without innate talent, acquiring archery skills and increasing proficiency required an exorbitant number of reward points.
"Fire!"
Arrows flew like rain.
Some glowed with flame or frost, others sparkled with sharp steel edges, and some burst into multi-shot clusters.
Elemental effects and projectile light mixed into a brilliant storm, crashing down in waves.
"Shield Block!"
"Iron Body!"
"Elemental Shield!"
...
The Mist and Iwa players raised their defenses quickly—but disorganization was evident.
Some without defensive skills took the full hit. One volley later, over ten players were already respawning.
"Where are the mages?! Knock those archers off the wall!"
Bolts of lightning and flame smashed against the wall, knocking off chunks of stone.
The wall's durability was plummeting.
A few hundred players couldn't hold off a thousand without the wall.
"Stone Giant!"
A massive gray-black figure rose in the middle of the battlefield, nearly as tall as the wall.
Standing on its shoulder was Yellow Earth from Iwagakure. All the arrows were blocked by the golem. He directed the giant's arm to smash down.
The Level 3 wall couldn't take the hit—a massive dent appeared.
Buzz.
A faint light flickered. Dawn instantly spent more reward points to repair the damage.
Hovering in the air, Konan remained calm. Her paper wings flapped, slapping talismans onto the Stone Giant's head.
Squish.
Water sprayed from the tags, forming blades that shredded the giant's head into mud.
Boom!
The giant collapsed.
Cheers erupted from Dawn's players—relieved at their leader's immense power.
Several promoted officers also demonstrated purple-tier skills, repelling wave after wave of enemy players.
"We need to destroy their teleportation circle!"
Konan frowned deeply.
If this kept up, just repairing the wall would bleed them dry.
But she couldn't leave the territory either. She had to guard against Mei's possible ambush.
There were no official rankings,
but among the first batch of players, Mei—backed by Kirigakure—was likely the strongest in the entire Newbie Village.
"Clan Leader, we won't last like this."
"Here's the blueprint for a Ghost Turret. It was a limited-time item from the monster siege event, but you need a Level 5 wall to build it."
Konan took the blueprint and skimmed it.
Her face twisted in hesitation.
During the monster siege, only the blueprint cost points—the materials came from the Newbie Village's wall, funded by Fang Yi.
But now,
building a Ghost Turret on private land would cost 100,000 reward points just to offset material costs.
Building it would bankrupt Dawn.
But if she didn't do it, the wall would soon fall.
"Build it."
Clenching her jaw, Konan activated the blueprint, picked a suitable wall location, and confirmed the build.
[Construction: 30 minutes]
Prompt: Spend 20,000 reward points to skip build time?
"Skip it."
The usually icy Konan nearly lost her composure, gritting her teeth as she clicked the option.
Clank, clank, clank.
Mechanical parts shifted and snapped into place. A chunk of metal rapidly unfolded, forming a Ghost Turret atop the wall.
BOOM!
A jet-black energy blast tore through the battlefield.
Players hit were instantly sent back to respawn.
Any defense below blue-tier crumbled like paper.
The tide turned in an instant.
Before Konan could even breathe a sigh of relief—
After just five shots, the turret ran out of energy.
Then the system prompted:
Each shot costs 2,000 reward points.
Konan's breathing turned ragged with rage.
Damn Kirigakure. Damn Iwagakure.
And damn that bloodsucking Game Merchant!
