Moses gathered the entire community of Israel and said, "These are the commands of the Lord: For six days you may work, but the seventh day is a holy Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever works on it must be put to death. Do not even light a fire in your dwellings on the Sabbath day."
Then Moses spoke again to the people: "This is what the Lord has commanded. From what you have, bring an offering for the Lord—gold, silver, bronze, blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, fine linen, goat hair, ram skins dyed red, sea cow hides, acacia wood, olive oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and incense, and precious stones for the ephod and breastpiece. All who are skilled are to come and make everything the Lord has commanded: the tabernacle and its coverings, the ark and its cover, the table and its articles, the lampstand, the altars, the basin, the courtyard with its posts, the tent pegs, the garments for Aaron and his sons."
The whole community withdrew from Moses, and then everyone whose heart was stirred returned with offerings for the Lord's work. Men and women alike came willingly, bringing gold jewelry—brooches, earrings, rings, and ornaments. Others brought yarn, fine linen, goat hair, ram skins, sea cow hides, and acacia wood. Those with silver or bronze brought them as offerings. Skilled women spun yarn with their hands, and others spun goat hair. The leaders presented gems for the priestly garments, as well as spices and olive oil for the lamps, the anointing oil, and the incense. In this way, every Israelite whose heart moved them gave freely to the Lord, for all that He commanded through Moses.
Then Moses said, "See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. He has filled him with the Spirit of God—with wisdom, knowledge, skill, and craftsmanship: the ability to design artistic works in gold, silver, and bronze, to cut and set stones, to carve wood, and to engage in all kinds of artistry. And He has also given him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. Together, the Lord has filled them with skill to work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers, and weavers—masters of every kind of artistic design."
