Now that the Tent of Meeting was set, the Lord called Moses to give instructions on the various offerings that will be presented before Him. He called Moses from the Tent, and said,
"Speak to the Israelites and tell them this: When any one of you brings an offering to Me, bring an animal from the herds or the flock.
If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, it must be a male without defect. Present it at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting so it will be accepted by Me. Place your hand on its head, and it will be accepted on your behalf, making atonement for you. Slaughter the young bull before Me, and then Aaron's sons, the priests, shall take its blood and sprinkle it against the altar on every side. Skin the animal, cut it into pieces, and the priests shall place fire and wood on the altar. Then they will arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat, on the burning wood. Wash the inner parts and the legs with water, and the priest shall burn all of it upon the altar. This is a burnt offering, a gift by fire, an aroma pleasing to Me."
This was also applied, if the offering was from a flock, whether goat or sheep.
And then the Lord said,
"If the offering is a bird, let it be a dove or a young pigeon. The priest shall bring it to the altar, wring off its head, and burn it on the altar, with its blood drained out at the side. He shall remove the crop with its contents and throw it on the east side of the altar where the ashes are. Then he shall tear the bird open by the wings, but not completely, and burn it on the firewood upon the altar. This is a burnt offering, an aroma pleasing to Me."
