Chapter 207: The Pressure of the Emperor – Tang San Is Brutally Defeated
Under the radiant glow of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, the two terrifying wounds on Gu Chen's body gradually stopped bleeding. He slowly opened his eyes and realized he was in the Heaven Dou Second Team's rest area. His eyes were filled with despair, as if he had shut down entirely.
He lost. Completely lost. Even after going all out, he couldn't force Qian Renxue to use his second spirit, and his proudest defense had been shattered.
"Chen'er..."
Bone Douluo sighed softly. He understood that his son had an immensely strong sense of pride. Gu Chen had always aspired to become the strongest of his generation, to marry the most beautiful woman on the continent, and to rise as the most powerful soul master in the future. This loss would surely deal a huge blow to his self-esteem.
If Qian Renxue wasn't the Pope's son, backed by the terrifying might of Spirit Hall, Bone Douluo might've had him secretly killed. But "if" was just wishful thinking.
"Xiao Gang!"
Flender leapt down from the stage and caught the unconscious Yu Xiaogang who had been flung onto it.
He wasn't sure if Ning Fengzhi did it on purpose, but that massive Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda's amplification range clearly covered the whole stage—yet Yu Xiaogang didn't receive any healing. Otherwise, he might've woken up like Gu Chen.
Xiao Wu had been within range and was healed, but hadn't regained consciousness. Qian Renxue's kick to the chest had caused serious internal injuries—broken bones, no easy recovery.
"Next."
Qian Renxue stood calmly on the stage. His Eight Spider Lances had already been withdrawn. Xuantian Skill circulated rapidly within him, restoring his soul power.
Though defeating Gu Chen had cost him a significant amount of energy, his Eight Extraordinary Meridians had been partially opened, allowing his recovery to far outpace normal soul masters. The rest of the Heaven Dou Second Team were weaklings—what soul power he had left was more than enough to take all seven of them down.
"The next contestant for Heaven Dou Royal Academy Second Team is—Tang San!"
At the host's announcement, the four other finalist teams began whispering among themselves.
Wasn't Tang San the Blue Silver Grass soul master who'd been ruined by Yu Xiaogang, forever stuck at rank 39? Why would he even dare show up at the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Tournament? Was he here just to embarrass himself again?
Qian Renxue narrowed his eyes slightly. A naturally evil member of the Tang Clan.
As Tang San walked toward the stage, he heard the murmurs around him and felt fury boil in his heart. He had already broken through to Soul Ancestor!
On stage, his eyes turned bloodshot as he said coldly, "You'll pay the price!"
Qian Renxue replied calmly, "Gu Chen said the same. You saw how that turned out. As a core member of the continent's strongest clan, I'll show you due respect—by leaving you more injured than him."
Gasps erupted again from the crowd. They'd lost track of how many times they'd exclaimed in shock. This tournament was simply brimming with monsters.
Even the supposedly aloof Clear Sky Sect had come to participate. But wait—wasn't Tang San a Blue Silver Grass user? How was he a core member of the Clear Sky Sect? Shouldn't he have the Clear Sky Hammer? Could Tang San be… a twin spirit wielder too!?
Three twin spirit users!? Was this real!?
"You—!"
Tang San didn't waste time talking. He was ready to reveal his Blue Silver Grass spirit and its two yellow and two purple rings to prove to everyone that he was no longer stuck at rank 39—he had reached rank 40. He was now a Soul Ancestor and could cultivate again.
But suddenly, his expression froze. Confusion flickered in his eyes. When he circulated his Xuantian Skill to his right hand, his Blue Silver Grass didn't appear. It felt… suppressed. What was going on!? This never happened at the Soto Arena!
This was the suppression of the Blue Silver King evolving into the Blue Silver Emperor.
Tang San's mere Blue Silver Grass dared to show hostility to the Blue Silver Emperor and even tried to oppose it? That was like a lesser sunflower trying to attack the King of Flowers—Amorous Heartbroken Red. Instant death, spirit obliteration.
"Begin!"
Tang San looked up and saw multiple blue-gold vines shooting toward him. He immediately used Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to dodge. Since he couldn't use Blue Silver Grass, he summoned his Clear Sky Hammer.
His original plan had been to use the hammer's Disorder Splitting Wind Dance to generate powerful gales, scattering the blue silver leaves that Qian Renxue would throw. The Blue Silver Vines weren't as hard as Bone Dragon bones, so they couldn't interrupt his buildup. Once fully charged, he'd jump up and slam Qian Renxue with a decisive blow.
But because this was the first match between Tianshui Academy and the Heaven Dou Second Team, everyone still thought of him as the loser stuck at rank 39. With his pride, he wanted to reveal the Blue Silver Grass first to prove he'd broken through. If it worked, he'd follow with a control attempt, then switch to the Clear Sky Hammer and deliver the finishing move.
Tang San shouted, channeled strength through his legs and waist, and smashed his hammer down with full force. Two incoming vines were crushed to pieces.
He immediately assumed the stance for Disorder Splitting Wind Dance to prevent Qian Renxue from using hidden weapons. He couldn't let the Soto Arena or Xiao Wu's earlier suffering repeat.
"Blue Silver Blade."
Qian Renxue's fourth ring lit up. Two blue-gold metal blades formed from vines curved outward from the left and right, spinning rapidly toward Tang San's chest.
Tang San's pupils contracted. He had to abandon his buildup and raised his hammer to block.
"Ahhh!"
He roared, struggling to block the two blades. His arm muscles bulged, and his feet slid back several meters.
"It's over."
Qian Renxue didn't give him any more breathing room. As Tang San held back the blades, more Blue Silver Vines lashed out—not to restrain, but to whip him like a scourge.
The vines struck his abdomen and the back of his knees. Tang San immediately dropped to one knee. His hammer slammed to the ground beside him. Fortunately, he had managed to deflect the blades with Purple Demon Eyes and Controlling Crane Catching Dragon—otherwise, his shoulders would've been cleaved through.
Qian Renxue showed no mercy. The vines whipped him again and again, lifting him into the air. The high-frequency strikes delivered searing pain, never giving him a moment to raise his hammer.
In the eyes of the crowd, Tang San was nothing more than a beach volleyball—batted around midair by the vines. Every strike tore his uniform and peeled back his flesh.
His face, chest, abdomen, and even buttocks—the vines lashed every part of him. His screams filled the air as blood sprayed from his mouth.
At that moment, he had only one thought:
Why did I start with the Blue Silver Grass to prove I was a Soul Ancestor instead of leading with the Clear Sky Hammer and delivering a one-shot kill?
If he'd started with the hammer and taken out Qian Renxue—the one who had just defeated Gu Chen—he could've used the Blue Silver Grass against Tianshui Academy's next members. The attention and admiration would've been immense.
