Chapter 62 - Ch: 62

After the fall of Broly, Lisette and the others returned safely to Earth, resuming their respective lives. While one final threat remained, the shadow of Broly—their greatest obstacle—had finally been lifted. He had been completely atomized; there would be no coming back for him later.

Vegeta and the others had entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to prepare for the battles ahead, but unfortunately, they didn't see the massive leaps in power they had previously achieved. As Goku put it, "Any more than this is just torture, not training."

Lisette also decided to conserve her remaining time in the Chamber. She had six months left, and she knew a day would come when she truly needed them. Besides, she had gained an involuntary boost in combat power during the last battle, making further forced refinement unnecessary for the time being.

Currently, she could push her Burst Limit to one hundred times its base for short bursts—a feat she had actually performed against Broly. However, the physical toll was immense. It was better to stick to a fifty-fold limit for general use and keep the one-hundred-fold "maximum output" as a last resort.

Gazing down at the world from the edge of the Lookout, Lisette spoke to the man standing behind her.

"I owe you my thanks for this time."

"Think nothing of it. I believe I told you once before—I will always come to your aid when you are in danger."

Behind her, Cell stood with his arms crossed, a gentlemanly (or so he likely thought) smirk on his face. Given his handsome features, he actually managed to pull off the look. Between the incident with Meta-Cooler and this latest battle, he had been a genuine help. Though she had been wary at first, the fact that he had risked his life to save her suggested his alliance might be sincere.

She still couldn't read his mind, but continuing to distrust him indefinitely felt like nothing more than cowardice.

"So, only that Dark Planet remains... What is your move?"

Cell looked up, his gaze piercing through the edge of the sky toward the distant, murky world far beyond. The Dark Planet itself was a non-entity—a distant rock that should have had nothing to do with Earth. But currently, machines launched from that world were wreaking havoc across the globe, causing a massive headache for everyone.

They were called "Destron Gas Emitters," malicious devices that blanketed the world in a gas designed to destroy biological cells. Lisette would never have let such a thing slide, but the timing had been atrocious. It seemed Dr. Lychee had planted them while they were away on New Planet Vegeta fighting Broly, and they had only just now activated.

The man behind the plot was Dr. Lychee, a scientist of the Tuffle race—a people once wiped out by the Saiyans. He was now attempting to exterminate the survivors on Earth.

Revenge against the Saiyans. In a vacuum, she couldn't fault him. To put it bluntly, the Saiyans had done plenty to earn that hatred, and Earth itself had once been a target for their invasion. They had destroyed countless worlds; the number of lives they had snuffed out reached well into the hundreds of millions. Even in this timeline, where she had prevented the worst of it, Nappa had once wiped out a city just to say "hello."

However, dragging the Earth into it—and involving people like Goku, Gohan, and Trunks, who had nothing to do with the Tuffles' fall—was an absolute mistake. If he wanted a fight, he should have stuck to Vegeta, Turles, and Nappa.

By targeting Earth, Lychee proved he was no different from the Saiyans he loathed. He was just another tyrant willing to trample an innocent planet to achieve his own ends.

If that was the case, she wouldn't hold back either.

"The choice is simple," Lisette whispered.

She opened a subspace gate beside her and unleashed a rapid volley of ki blasts. They streaked through the portal, emerging across the galaxy to strike the ships of Lychee's subordinates—men with names like Bongart and Zeak, though they hardly mattered. Before they could even reach Earth, they were intercepted and reduced to cosmic dust.

She fired again.

This time, the gate connected directly to the Dark Planet, raining white meteors down upon the palace that served as Lychee's base. The structures were leveled in an instant.

Lychee and Hatchiyack would surely survive, but she had successfully wiped out the surrounding fodder.

"Trying to involve my world is the same as a declaration of war against me. We're taking the fight to them. Mr. Popo, please contact Goku and the others. Tell them to handle the Destron Gas Emitters on the surface."

"I understand, Divine One."

The emitters on Earth couldn't be ignored, but she trusted Goku and the rest to handle them. More importantly, the mastermind had to be struck down to end the crisis. As Lisette prepared to set out alone, Cell stepped up beside her.

"Allow me to accompany you. More firepower is always better."

"...I appreciate it."

Lisette opened a gate and leaped through. Cell followed, and they materialized on the Dark Planet. The palace was gone, replaced by a field of smoldering wreckage. Dr. Lychee, however, was very much alive. He hovered in the air, his face twisted in a mask of fury as he confronted Lisette.

"Curse you, Goddess of Earth... why do you interfere with my vengeance?"

"I mean, 'why' should be obvious. You dragged my planet into it."

"Vengeance against the Saiyans has been my life's ambition! I care nothing for what happens to Earth in the process! But because of you, my grand design is in ruins!"

His logic was completely incoherent. Lychee charged forward, hovering in a cross-legged position. But at his core, he was a scientist who had never seen a real battlefield. He had no idea how to actually fight.

Technically, he shouldn't even have been able to fight at all, but the Lychee standing here was a manifestation of pure malice—a "Ghost Warrior." He was powered by the Hatchiyack, the Grudge Amplification Device, which used the lingering hatred of the Tuffles killed by Saiyans as fuel to give ghosts a physical form.

Yet, no matter how much his combat power was boosted by hate, he lacked experience. Lisette dodged his clumsy charge with a graceful flourish. When she moved to counter-attack, a barrier flared around Lychee, blocking her strike.

Lisette responded in kind. A sphere of brilliant white light enveloped her, and the two barriers clashed. In such a stalemate, it became a simple contest of output—and Lisette's was higher. Lychee was sent spiraling along with his barrier, crashing into the ground below.

"Fool. You think a mere grudge can defeat her?" Cell laughed. "My dear mother-in-law, Lisette! You should simply use your divine energy to erase them!"

"...Huh? What are you talking about? I don't have power like that."

"Oh, but you do. Because you have the faith gathered from across the universe. Regardless of your own feelings, you are worshipped as a Goddess of Justice. Just as Lychee draws power from grudges, you draw power from faith. Therefore, your ki contains the power to purge evil! In the future I know, you decimated the Ghost Warriors with that very strength!"

Goddess of Justice? What kind of embarrassing title is that?

Despite her inner cringe, Lisette focused her gaze on Lychee. As she did, she saw it—the mass of dark, swirling malice sustaining him. She fired a single ki blast.

The bolt pierced right through the barrier Lychee had desperately raised and vanished into his chest.

Nothing changed.

He hadn't even taken damage. Lychee let out a mocking sneer. But a moment later, brilliant white light began to erupt from every pore of his body.

"Wh-What is this?!"

"In the Other World, there is a device called the Spirit Laundering Machine that purifies evil energy," Cell explained. "As she ascends toward true divinity, her ki is beginning to achieve the same effect."

Lisette, the one who actually fired the shot, found herself completely left out of the conversation. She could only mutter "Huh" and "Oh" as if she were a bystander. She didn't remember ever learning how to purify evil energy, nor had she trained for it, but apparently, it had become part of her repertoire.

Human thoughts are a powerful thing, she mused, listening to Cell continue his lecture.

"And by consuming the Fruit of the Tree of Might recently, she has come incredibly close to attaining complete divinity! A filthy grudge is no longer a match for her!"

"It's... it's fading... my grudge against the Saiyans... it's... No! Stop! I don't want to lose my hatred! I won't...!"

To take a man who existed solely for the sake of his hatred and forcibly purify him—was there any more devastating way to defeat him? Lychee's face twisted in despair as he tried to scream, but the very hatred that fueled his voice was being washed away.

He couldn't even manage to stay angry. He couldn't even hate. He was simply forced into a peaceful, eternal sleep he had never asked for.

"Ah... aah..."

The scientist, who had spent years accumulating hatred for the Saiyans even after death, met an incredibly anti-climactic end. By trying to touch Earth, he had been erased by the planet's Goddess without ever getting his chance to fight the Saiyans he so despised.

With his fuel purified, there was nothing left to tether him to the living world. The genius of malice simply vanished from existence.

Lisette stared at her palm, blinking in wonder. It was a strange sensation. She had started as a "fake" deity, someone who had merely inherited the title, yet her abilities were rapidly catching up to her position. It felt as if fate itself were guiding her...

No, that's impossible, she thought. Dende was the one meant to be God. If fate were guiding anyone, it would be him.

"Is something wrong?"

"...No, it's nothing. Let's destroy the Hatchiyack."

The Grudge Amplification Device had to be dealt with. If left alone, malice would only gather again, potentially reviving someone even more dangerous than Lychee. Lisette raised her hand and fired a blast at the machine.

Suddenly, another ki blast intervened, knocking her shot off course.

Was it Cell? No, he was right beside her. The shot had come from the opposite direction, from someone hiding in the shadows. But she didn't have time to hunt them down. A black aura was swirling around the Hatchiyack, causing it to evolve at a terrifying rate.

"This phenomenon..."

Lisette recognized this sudden surge of energy. It was undoubtedly the work of those "interlopers" who had interfered during the battle with Broly. Which meant the ones in the shadows had to be those two. She had known they would show up eventually, and it seemed the time was now.

"Hehe... long time no see. You've certainly powered up, haven't you? I can feel an energy that puts your former self to shame."

"Towa... and Mira."

Appearing behind Lisette were the demon duo she had encountered before. Simultaneously, the Hatchiyack finally completed its manifestation, transforming into a warrior clad in crimson armor.

Hatchiyack in front. Towa and Mira behind.

In an instant, the tables had turned. Lisette and Cell stood back-to-back, guarding each other's blind spots.

"What are you doing here?"

"Isn't it obvious? I decided it was about time to erase you. You're a nuisance, and you've finally matured into a source of energy worth harvesting. I have no more reason to let you live."

Towa had once let Lisette go, claiming she wasn't worth the effort. It seemed she had finally deemed Lisette "ripe." Mira kicked off the air, accelerating with frightening speed, while Hatchiyack charged from the other side.

A pincer attack.

Lisette pivoted to intercept Mira, while Cell took on Hatchiyack. Mira's fists were far faster and sharper than before; he had clearly been holding back during their last encounter. But Lisette wasn't the same girl he had fought then. She parried his blows with clinical precision, engaging him in a high-speed stalemate.

However, the balance broke when Hatchiyack punched Cell away and swung back to ambush Lisette from behind. Even for her, handling two opponents of this caliber simultaneously was a nightmare. She dodged, redirected, and flowed through the attacks, but she was trapped in a purely defensive struggle.

"Ngh... Hah!"

She thrust her hands out to either side—a Kiai Cannon!

The blast pushed Mira and Hatchiyack back, giving her a split second to focus her focus on Mira. She lunged with a palm strike! Mira raised his arms to protect his face, but she instantly shifted her trajectory, driving the blow into his solar plexus. She grabbed a handful of his torso and threw him with everything she had.

She aimed him straight at Hatchiyack. Using Mira as a projectile to disrupt the machine's movement, she followed up with a volley of ki blasts.

"Tricky little pest!"

Hatchiyack and Mira tore through the smoke, but Cell descended from above, kicking Mira back toward the ground. Lisette seized Hatchiyack's arm, attempting an aikido throw against the joint's natural rotation.

But joint locks seemed to mean nothing to him. Hatchiyack spun in mid-air as if he felt no pain, stabilizing himself and crossing his arms to gather energy.

It was the Revenger Cannon—a move that took fifteen seconds to charge. In a battle where a single second felt like minutes, fifteen seconds was an eternity. To Lisette, it was a glaring flaw in his technique.

Yet, Hatchiyack's defense was legendary at all times except the moment he fired. It was the only time a real blow could land. The only way to win was to counter the Revenger Cannon at the moment of release—an area of expertise for Lisette. Under normal circumstances, it would be easy.

But with Mira prowling the battlefield, "easy" was no longer an option. As she turned to face Mira's renewed assault, Lisette felt the cold realization that they were being backed into a corner.

Data Archive: Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans

Source: Originally a Famicom game strategy guide/OVA, not a theatrical movie.

Continuity: This version follows a timeline where Goku survived and defeated villains like Cooler, Slug, and Turles, yet Gohan is a Super Saiyan and Trunks is present—a chaotic "Movie Universe" logic.

Hatchiyack: A "Grudge Amplification Device." It creates Ghost Warriors of past villains. It is famously silent in the original but gained dialogue in the remake. Goku noted his power might exceed Broly's. His fatal flaw is the 15-second charge time for his Revenger Cannon.

Dr. Lychee: The mastermind and a Ghost Warrior himself. A Tuffle scientist who blames the Saiyans for his race's extinction.
