Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: A Choice for Earth

"Hermit?"

Bulma paused in confusion, then couldn't help giggling as she pounced toward the plump white cat, trying to pet it.

But the Cat Hermit had no intention of letting her succeed. Just as he was about to jump away, a strange aura suddenly engulfed him—locking him in place.

The Cat Hermit stared at Lynx, who stood with arms folded in the distance. Cold sweat trickled down his furry forehead.

"Fat cat, you're the so-called 'hermit'?" Lynx asked flatly.

"Fluffy!" Bulma reached out, rubbing the cat's fur, then gave his chubby face a pinch.

"Lynx-oniichan, you liar! It's just a cat!"

Just then, Lynx withdrew his suppressing ki.

The Cat Hermit immediately came back to life, gasping for breath.

"I'm an immortal! Not a cat!"

"Kyaa! He really can talk!"

"Alright, Bulma, I need to talk to him for a moment."

Lin Chen approached the Cat Hermit, whose fur bristled under the pressure of Lynx's intimidating aura.

"You're an alien… So how do you know about this place?" the hermit asked warily.

"Not only do I know about it, I also know you have Senzu Beans. Hand them over," Lynx ordered.

Until the healing pods were ready, Senzu Beans would serve as a temporary solution. Wasteful? Maybe. But better that than being erased by the system.

"No way! You're a complete stranger. I can't just—"

Before he could finish, Lynx waved his hand and suddenly produced a giant fish from Planet Vegeta, laying it in front of the hermit.

"This is fish from my home planet. Give me the beans, and I'll trade you a hundred more like this."

"M-Meow?! I'll give them!"

Before Lynx even finished speaking, the Cat Hermit changed his tune on the spot.

No cat could resist the temptation of fresh fish—not even a so-called immortal.

"Grow more, and I'll bring you exotic fish from all across the galaxy!"

Lynx swept away the Senzu Beans, leaving only a few seeds behind. Then he grabbed Bulma once more and took off toward the skies above.

The Kami's Lookout was waiting.

They easily pierced the spiritual barrier protecting the divine temple and landed softly atop the floating shrine.

Bulma, still excited from everything, was startled when she noticed two figures already waiting: the green-skinned Kami and Mr. Popo, dressed in black.

Lin Chen gave them a glance.Kami—originally a Namekian—stood with a polite, yet cautious look. Popo, meanwhile, remained unreadable.

"Welcome, esteemed guest from another world," Kami greeted solemnly.

"Hello, Kami. My name is Lynx."

Bulma stared at them in disbelief.

"Lynx-oniichan… they're the gods?"

"He's the God," Popo said calmly. "I'm Popo, God's attendant."

"Yep, that's the God. A little disappointing, huh?" Lynx teased.

"Mm..." Bulma nodded shyly, her childhood fantasies about gods quietly crumbling.

"Mr. Lynx, what brings you here today?" Kami asked with wary curiosity.

"I'd like to know—can you summon Shenron directly for me?" Lynx asked.

"Summoning the dragon requires all seven Dragon Balls," Kami replied." Even I don't know where they are right now."

"Lynx-oniichan, what's a Dragon Ball?" Bulma asked curiously.

"They're mystical orbs that grant a wish when all seven are gathered."

After briefly explaining, Lynx shook his head.

"If the dragon can't be summoned, forget it. I mainly came to let Miss Bulma look around… and to pick up some Senzu Beans."

Kami was a bit surprised, then offered,

"In that case, would you like a tour of the shrine?"

"No need. We've been out long enough. Time to head back."

"Aww, Lynx-oniichan, I wanted to see more…"

"Come now, Bulma. Dr. Brief is probably already worried sick."

Just as Lynx was about to use Instant Transmission, Kami stepped forward.

"Mr. Lynx! I must ask… do you truly have no intentions for Earth?"

"Intentions?" Lynx turned around.

"With your strength, conquering Earth would be effortless… but instead, you're making deals with mortals. I just don't understand why."

"You don't understand…" Lynx smiled faintly.

With his power, conquering Earth would indeed be easy—but why should he?

Suddenly, a voice rang out in his mind:

Ding! Host's indecision about Earth detected. Initiating Supreme Choice System.

💠 Supreme Choice 💠

Unify Earth, turning it into a Saiyan colony. Reward: Unlock Potential ability from Namekian Grand Elder!

Destroy Earth, turning it into cosmic dust. Reward: New Technique: Ki Scythe!

Do nothing, let Dragon Ball's story unfold naturally. Reward: +100,000 Power Level!

The sudden prompt surprised Lynx.

Clearly, the system was trying to stir things up.

The first two rewards were undeniably tempting—either immediate mission completion or a powerful technique.

By contrast, the third option's reward seemed trivial.

And yet, Lynx didn't hesitate.

"System, I choose Option 3."

As a transmigrator, his greatest cheat was knowing the storyline. If he disrupted it too much, it could backfire.

Besides, he had grown fond of Earth… and the people on it.

Ding! Choice confirmed. Reward distributed.

In the next moment, Lynx's body quietly surged with hidden strength.

He turned back to Kami and smiled.

"Maybe… it's just because I like this planet. And the people who live on it."

Kami was stunned silent. Mr. Popo, as always, remained expressionless.

With the visit complete, Lynx returned to West City with Bulma.

In the days that followed, Dr. Brief and Bulma began working on replicating the healing pod.

Lynx made a brief trip back to Planet Vegeta, delivering three full vats of Senzu Beans to King Vegeta and the others. At the same time, he sent a 50x Gravity Chamber to Earth for Dr. Brief's research.

Everything was progressing smoothly.

Then one day, Lynx arrived at a place called Mount Paozu.

Floating in mid-air, he gazed down silently.

Ever since choosing to preserve Earth's destiny, he had been thinking about Son Goku.

He wanted to see how the Dragon Ball protagonist was doing.

Although Planet Vegeta hadn't been destroyed, before Lynx went into stasis, he'd specifically told Bardock to send Goku to Earth anyway.

And so, Goku had still arrived on Earth, just like in the original timeline.

Lynx watched as the young Goku practiced martial arts, throwing childish punches.

Just like the original, Goku's power level was only 10.

Living alone, yet safe and self-sufficient, the boy still trained relentlessly.

Among all Dragon Ball characters, only Goku truly deserved the title of "martial arts maniac."

And it was this tireless spirit that allowed him—just a low-class Saiyan—to eventually become one of the greatest warriors in the universe.

Compared to that, Lynx—with his superior bloodline—had slacked off too much.

But his future was filled with danger:

Nearby threats like Frieza, whereabouts unknown.

Distant ones like Beerus, destined to awaken in decades.

"So many challenges lie ahead…

I can't afford to grow complacent!"
