Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Hospital

As the vehicle rolled over, the deathly zombies within a meter of Xu Lun were all transferred into the Workshop.

Under the temptation of shedding the 'intern' prefix, Banana happily agreed to the task of dealing with the zombies.

This greatly improved Xu Lun's mood, making him feel that even an AI could have its merits.

It's worth noting that creatures that have lost their vital activity can be automatically transferred by the Workshop; the Lizard was an example of this. However, non-living objects and living creatures with vital activity require Xu Lun to transfer them personally.

Unfortunately, Xu Lun's good mood didn't last long; their path ahead was blocked by several police cars.

"Hey, are you survivors? There's a horde of zombies ahead, stop quickly!"

Several men in police uniforms stood at the intersection, shouting at them.

"Eh, should we stop?" Shizuka Marikawa looked at Xu Lun.

"No need to stop, just drive straight through."

Xu Lun glanced at the 'police officers' and said casually. Saeko Busujima didn't object, evidently having seen through them as well.

"Drive through?"

Before Shizuka Marikawa could react, the SUV had already crashed into them, making her flustered.

"Bastard, what are you doing?!"

The leader barely managed to dodge the car, but his subordinates behind him weren't so lucky. They flew out like kites with broken strings, spitting blood, clearly not going to survive.

"Takagi, I told you long ago, your plan can't fool anyone!"

Dozens of men in prison uniforms emerged from a nearby house, and the leading man mocked him.

"Who would have thought this guy was so vicious! Damn it! I'm going to kill him myself!" Another man gritted his teeth and echoed.

They quickly surrounded the car. When they saw the three people inside, their breathing quickened.

"I've changed my mind now. Those two women are yours, but this man must be handled by me." Takagi stared greedily at Xu Lun's body, his breathing becoming ragged.

Xu Lun and Saeko Busujima got out of the car with strange expressions.

"Busujima, can you handle this? These prisoners should have guns."

"Don't worry, I can dodge police pistols."

The so-called dodging bullets doesn't require you to be faster than the gun, only faster than the person firing it. These people haven't even fully assembled their police uniforms, and indeed, they only have a few guns.

"Dodge bullets?"

Takagi scoffed when he heard Xu Lun's words, pulled a pistol from his pocket, and aimed it at Xu Lun.

"Sweetheart, don't move. I don't want to hurt you."

His fist hardened a bit.

Xu Lun's eyes turned cold, and his figure flashed. He instantly rushed in front of Takagi, not wanting to touch this pervert with his fists. With a spinning kick, he instantly crushed his throat, depriving him of the ability to speak.

"Still dare to resist!"

Bang!

The other prisoners, seeing this, were half a beat slow in pulling out their pistols and began to shoot.

At this moment, Xu Lun had already charged forward. Against ordinary people, once he got close, his body was the most precise weapon. His ordinary punches and kicks carried immense lethality; a mere touch meant either death or serious injury.

If Xu Lun was a fierce beast, then Saeko Busujima was a phantom. Her movements were elusive, and her speed was astonishing. She easily dodged the bullets fired by the enemies, then rushed into the crowd with incredible speed. In a few flashes, the wooden sword in her hand drew a sharp arc in the air, causing the prisoners to instantly fall to the ground.

A moment later, Xu Lun and Saeko Busujima returned to the car with a few pistols.

"How did you know those people weren't real police?"

Shizuka Marikawa restarted the car and asked the two curiously.

"It was a loophole in their words," Saeko Busujima replied. "If there was a horde of zombies ahead, how would they dare to stay here, let alone shout loudly to warn them?"

Facing Saeko Busujima's scrutinizing gaze, Xu Lun also stated his reason.

"I just simply felt they weren't good people."

Xu Lun couldn't help but frequently look at Saeko Busujima. He had just witnessed a famous scene, 'dodging bullets' in a certain way, and he was still a bit shocked. Was it really that elastic?

Saeko Busujima didn't continue speaking. After it was over, her mood was a bit low. After all, she had only killed zombies before, but now she had killed living people.

The rest of the journey was uneventful. After several hours, they arrived at Shizuka Marikawa's friend's house in the afternoon.

"It's a villa."

Entering the villa, Xu Lun quickly found his target: a cabinet. He pried it open with a stick, and inside it was filled with various firearms.

According to Shizuka Marikawa, her friend worked for the special police unit S.A.T, but hiding an arsenal at home was too much, there was even a sniper rifle inside.

Not to mention the modified Hummer H1 outside, which was amphibious.

Was she planning to assassinate the prime minister and escape by sea?

Saeko Busujima still held her wooden sword, showing no desire for a gun. After all, guns are more effective for killing people, and using them against zombies would only attract more. Xu Lun collected all these firearms into the Workshop, leaving one pistol for Shizuka Marikawa for self-defense.

"I need to go out for a bit."

"I'll go with you."

Xu Lun didn't refuse Saeko Busujima. As a direct victim of Resident Evil, she definitely wanted to know the truth. That Hospital was still very close to here, so going together was fine.

"It seems there are quite a few survivors here."

Xu Lun noticed the glances occasionally coming from around them, seemingly scrutinizing them.

"It might be because there are fewer people in this vicinity."

After all, this area was a wealthy district, and many people still had private security guards. Although in the apocalypse, security guards might not necessarily make owners safer, it did lead to more living people.

Walking in the city was still relatively safe now; as long as they remained vigilant and tried not to make noise, they could avoid attracting too many zombies.

Although they would occasionally encounter one or two, with his and Saeko Busujima's strength, these threats were not to be feared.

After some trekking, they finally arrived at their destination—the Hospital.

The two successfully reached the Hospital. The automatic doors of the Hospital were still functioning normally. Xu Lun cautiously walked into the Hospital, tightly gripping the baseball bat in his hand, ready to deal with any potential danger.

However, to his surprise, the Hospital was unusually quiet. Only the air conditioning in the lobby was still persistently blowing cold air. The floor was covered in bloodstains, but there was no sign of a single zombie.

Everything was too quiet.

"It seems there really is something wrong here."

Given the Hospital's normal flow of people, if a zombie outbreak occurred here, it would be almost impossible for many people to escape. Why was it like this now? But it also wasn't likely to be done by the Umbrella Corporation, as zombies were also a barrier and alarm for them. He frowned and continued searching for clues.

He walked through several departments in a row, yet found no trace of zombies.

Umbrella Corporation's bases are usually underground, but where in the Hospital would the entrance be?

"The morgue."

In a blink of an eye, they had wandered deep into the Hospital. The bloodstains on the ground were gradually deepening, extending towards the dark staircase.

There, a sign still stood: "Morgue, Do Not Enter."

"I just feel like if we go in now, we'll encounter some classic horror movie plot."

The atmosphere was somewhat heavy, and Saeko Busujima's heart rate quickened as she said, distressed.

"Actually, we can turn on the lights first."

Not rushing into the darkness, Xu Lun turned on the lights in the stairwell. The dark staircase instantly became bright again, making the atmosphere less heavy.

"Busujima, are you sure you want to go in with me?"

Xu Lun asked Saeko Busujima again.

Saeko Busujima showed a resolute smile, "Xu Lun, are you underestimating me a bit too much? I have no reason to back down."

"Besides, splitting up at this time, isn't that a classic horror movie trope where everyone gets picked off one by one?"
