In my vivid dreams I hear a distant voice from my long forgot childhood 'lily never dies' my father use to say that always. Last night I came back to my parents house and all these stories of my childhood all those nebulous voices kept coming back to me. Was it a long forgot tale or a reality or a distant dream I don't know, but when a sweet shy white haired girl lingered through a valley full of lilies inside my racing mind I couldn't hold myself together. I was a logical minded boy, I never even believed a single fairytale or a ghost story. my father used to tell me the story of an immortal girl Lily ,who the villagers fearfully refer to Lilith, I used to say in reply, ' No one can live this long dad!', 'But she is not a human' my father used to say with his stern belief. My naive brother used to believe his every story.
I was a stubborn kid who never believed in those stories. When my friends also said that she is real, my anger got the best of me. I decided to go to the mountain alone to find out the truth. Now I look at that mountain and think what if I'd never gone there.
I climbed the mountain and the view just mesmerized me, a snowy mountain, like someone wrote a poem with stone and Frost, where clock of the world forgot to breathe. But with an awe I found a bunch of little forget-me-not flowers peeking from the snow matching their color with the hue of the blue frost. just a short distance away, a snowy cave stood in silence. I felt like this cave is trying to tell me stories that no one ever heard about. Inside the cave's dark hollow, I noticed a faint light and with a touch of curiosity my adolescent mind was slowly leading me inside the cave. Perhaps the echo of my footsteps stirred something within the cave. A scared but stern and strangely beautiful voice called out, 'who's there?' suddenly a woman stood before me, her skin was like warm beige dusk, where sunlight lingers long after the day is done. Her long hair is snowy white with small waves and that is what makes her ethereal. Her siren eyes and fear in her face was enchanting to me. She looked straight in to my eyes and asked again, 'who are you?' I startled by her voice, I nervously said 'I...I am Elias' 'Is your name Lilith?' I asked her, and she said with a little anger on her face ' no my name is lily!' 'then why everyone call you Lilith? Are you really alive for thousands of years' she answered ' I don't really know...really that much time have passed!' her eyes looked distant like she is trying to catch something further of my reach. When I was returning to the village she slowly asked me 'will you come here again soon?' she asked me as if she was wishing something unattainable from a distant star. I replied with a smile, 'yeah...' I wondered how and why this innocent, scared and lonely girl became folktale's scary Lilith?
