The living room of Kakashi's home was quiet, lit by the warm golden glow of paper lanterns. Outside, the leaves of Konoha rustled gently, the evening air cool and fragrant with summer bloom. But inside, things were about to get… interesting.
Anko lounged on the couch, one arm draped over the back, her eyes sharp with curiosity. Kurenai sat beside her, legs folded neatly, her red eyes focused on Kakashi with that same mix of admiration and anticipation she always wore when he got that look on his face, the one that meant he had something new. Dangerous. Powerful.
And Mei sat a little to the side, not exactly part of their relationship, but close enough to share in the chaos and warmth of their bond.
Her long auburn hair gleamed under the light, and while she had insisted she didn't need any special enhancements, Kakashi had other ideas.
He stood before them, arms crossed, the faintest smirk on his face. His eyes swept across the three women like a tactician reviewing his best weapons.
"I've been reviewing Orochimaru's stolen files again," Kakashi said, cutting straight to the point. "And I've made my decisions. The next round of genetic integrations is ready. If we do this right, all three of you will become even more dangerous."
"I like the sound of that." Anko grinned.
Kakashi turned to her first.
"Anko. I chose Scorch Release for you."
"Scorch, huh? Sounds hot." Anko raised a brow.
Kakashi gave her a knowing look. "It is. Scorch Release is a fusion of Fire and Wind styles. It compresses heat into orbs that burn so intensely that they desiccate enemies from the inside out. They boil the moisture out of you. It's overwhelming, aggressive… relentless."
He stepped closer, his voice lowering.
"You're fiery. Unapologetic. And you like watching your enemies squirm before they drop. Scorch Release doesn't burn like a flame, it cooks. It's perfect for you."
"Kakashi, that's the best compliment I've had all month." Anko's eyes gleamed.
"So you agree?"
"Hell yes." She gave a fang-toothed grin. "Let's set the world on fire."
"I figured you'd like it." Kakashi chuckled.
Then he turned to Kurenai, who was watching him with unreadable eyes, soft, but with a hint of fire beneath the surface. She leaned forward just slightly, expectant.
"As for you, Kurenai…"
He paused, letting it settle.
"I'm giving you the Ketsuryugan, the Blood Dragon Eye."
"The dojutsu from the Chinoike Clan?" Her lips parted slightly.
Kakashi nodded. "Exactly. It's a perfect match for you. The Ketsuryugan enhances genjutsu far beyond the Sharingan's capacity. Its illusions are deeply tied to blood and perception, it can even manipulate liquid blood itself if used right."
He gave her a softer look now, more personal.
"You're already a master of illusion. This takes your genjutsu from subtle and beautiful… to terrifying and inescapable. It lets you tear into the enemy's mind, and now, their body."
Kurenai said nothing at first. Then she stood, walked over to him slowly, and cupped his face.
"Thank you," she whispered.
Then she kissed him. Long and deep.
"Jeez, at least wait until I get my popcorn." Anko looked over and smirked.
Kurenai didn't even look back. When she finally pulled away, her crimson eyes glowed faintly with something new.
"I've read of the Chinoike clan. They were feared even by the Uchiha. You're right, Kakashi. This… feels right."
"Now… as for you…" Satisfied, Kakashi turned to Mei.
"I told you I don't need-" She raised a hand.
"I know," Kakashi cut in gently. "You don't need it. But that doesn't mean you won't benefit from it."
He looked her in the eye.
"I want to give you Crystal Release."
"Crystal?" Mei blinked, caught off guard.
"It's beautiful," Kakashi said simply. "Precise. Deadly at range. You fight up close with lava and acidic mist, and this gives you something more, something you lack. A cold, hard control to balance the chaos."
He walked toward her, eyes thoughtful.
"Crystal is elegance. It reflects your intelligence and your calm demeanor. It makes traps, walls, spears, and domes. And combined with your existing styles, it becomes something incredible."
"You already thought through the combinations, didn't you?" Mei's brow arched slightly.
"Naturally." Kakashi grinned.
He ticked them off on his fingers.
"Boil + Crystal, Crystal traps first, domes, cages, then your mist inside. Perfect, deadly AoE in a sealed zone."
"Lava + Crystal, Crystal creates terrain, tunnels, and platforms. You guide your lava with geometry. Chaos becomes control."
"Crystal as Catalyst, Lava can coat the crystal for timed eruptions, and shattered crystal can become shrapnel mixed with corrosive mist. It's precision and beauty, infused with destruction."
For a moment, Mei didn't respond. Her green eyes were wide, lost in the image Kakashi had painted. Then, slowly, her lips curved upward.
"You… really thought this through."
"Of course I did." He gave her a modest shrug.
She stood and stepped toward him, gaze softer now. Then she leaned in and kissed his cheek, not a fast kiss, but one that lingered just long enough to let Kakashi feel the warmth of her lips.
"You missed." When she pulled back, he tapped his mouth with a dramatic frown.
"Don't push your luck, Copy Ninja." Mei rolled her eyes, then smiled wider.
"That's what you get for flirting with all your women at once." Anko laughed from the couch.
Kurenai only smirked, clearly not jealous.
Kakashi stood in the center of them all, relaxed but focused now.
"Alright. Tomorrow, I'll begin the preparations. We'll do the synth process one at a time. I already have the preserved bloodline samples from Orochimaru's collection. His thievery, ironically, is giving us the chance to surpass him."
He met each of their eyes.
"Anko. Scorch Release will be a full-body integration, high risk, but your chakra is tough enough to handle it."
"Bring it on," Anko said, cracking her knuckles.
"Kurenai. The Ketsuryugan will affect your optic nerves and chakra pathways. It'll hurt like hell, but I'll guide you through it."
"If I get even stronger, it's worth it." Kurenai just nodded.
"Mei." Kakashi's voice softened. "You'll need to rest beforehand. Crystal Release has a strange resonance, it interacts oddly with other Kekkei Genkai. You might get dizzy, or worse. But if it works…"
"I'll become something no Mizukage ever was," she finished, her green eyes gleaming. "Graceful and terrifying."
"Exactly."
"So tomorrow's gonna be fun." Anko leaned back and stretched.
"Let's just say I'm upgrading the people I care about." Kakashi smiled faintly.
"We know." Kurenai leaned her head on his shoulder.
Mei watched the interaction quietly, then reached for a cup of tea Kakashi had prepared. She sipped it slowly, her thoughts elsewhere. Crystal Release… It wasn't what she expected, but somehow… it was perfect.
Kakashi looked around the room once more, his heart unexpectedly full.
He wasn't just preparing weapons. He was building something, a team, a family, a future. One that could take on the shadows rising across the shinobi world.
Tomorrow, the genes would be grafted, the seals carved, and the powers awakened.
But tonight, for just a moment…
He let himself enjoy the peace.
