Chapter 1 - KANDRA ALERA AL-ERA

Book 1 of The Al-Era FamilyBy Anuri Anika

This is the epic tale of the Al-Era family, set in 2024. The narrative unfolds with a powerful modern-day sorceress whose soul is transmigrated into the body of a 170-year-old girl — equivalent to 17 years in the contemporary world — in the ancient realm of Medavylin during 1935, a time 89 years behind the modern era.

The story traces back to 2022, when a private war erupted between Alera Lyly Al-Era and Gudan Anetaro, the malevolent lord of greed from the ancient world. The conflict began during an exploration of a newly discovered cave, a project initiated by the government. In a fateful twist, Alera, skipping school to investigate the cave, inadvertently awakens Gudan from his ancient slumber with her blood. This act binds them as eternal enemies, destined for a ceaseless struggle until Gudan is vanquished.

Unaware of the gravity of her actions, Alera leaves the cave and returns to her normal life, driven by the urgency of an impending test. She receives a call from her friend, Anisha Kyler — a strikingly beautiful girl with the unique power to communicate with the dead — who warns her of the looming danger.

To fully awaken, Gudan requires the heart of his first blood: Alera Lyly herself. However, he can only remain awake for 30 minutes before slipping back into a 48-hour slumber. After class, Alera returns to the Al-Era Presidential Building, where she resumes her luxurious life and continues honing her skills, for the modern world is one where humans coexist with other beings.

Weeks pass, and the government announces that the cave has fallen into the wrong hands. This news draws the attention of powerful fighters, scientists, and the State's Men — a formidable organization tasked with overseeing all beings with extraordinary powers across the globe. When the State's Men finally excavate the coffin, they make a chilling discovery: the coffin's occupant has vanished, posing a grave threat to global citizens, including those in the U.S.

The government issues a nationwide alert, urging vigilance toward any individuals with exceptional skills not registered with the State's Men system. Though the Al-Eras initially dismiss the news, Alera grows suspicious. Two days later, she is attacked by an unknown force for 20 minutes but narrowly escapes back to safety.

Upon her mother Kandra's return from Australia, Alera recounts the incident. Kandra, shocked and furious, realizes that Gudan could not assault the Al-Era building because of its divine protection. She warns Alera to prepare for an imminent confrontation and arranges for her to go to the State's Men headquarters.

At the State's Men facility, Kandra explains the situation. They advise that Alera stay within their protection to lure Gudan, as they are unsure of his full capabilities. Just 48 hours later, Gudan's assault catches them off guard. A fierce battle ensues. In a sinister move, Gudan casts a spell on Alera, provoking Kandra. Before she can retaliate, Gudan vanishes, leaving behind chaos.

Alera's condition deteriorates — pale and on the brink of death. Kandra orders her war maidens to bring Alera to her sorcery chamber. She tries everything to revive her, but fails. When Alera's soul vanishes, Kandra's grief turns to rage. In desperation, she devises a final plan: to transfer her own soul into Alera's body, sent to Medavylin, to find and recover Alera's soul.

But at the moment of the spell, someone interferes. An extra layer of magic masks Kandra's memory and powers. Now in an unfamiliar world, stripped of who she was, Kandra must navigate Medavylin's dangers, reclaim her true self, and restore balance — before it's too late.
