Chapter 87 - Chapter 88 Explode

Seeing Ego suddenly appear, Clark showed a slight smile on his face. "What a coincidence, Ego. I was just about to look for you."

"Oh? And what exactly do you want from me?" Ego looked at the calm Clark and felt that there was nothing he could offer that Clark would fear.

"Ego, we want to know—whose bones are these?" At that moment, Diana, who had been standing behind Clark, stepped forward and drew the Godkiller sword from behind her back.

Clark was startled at the sight. His eyes nearly popped out—he remembered hugging Diana before, and her back had seemed perfectly normal. So how could she now draw such a massive sword from it?

"Diana, as a god, don't you think mortals are cold, selfish, and greedy?

They were like that in the past, and they'll continue to be in the future. Looking at them, I suddenly realized that my desire to seek out life was never to become one of them.

This is about separation and expansion!

I must continuously expand and reproduce. In my world, there are no lowly, filthy, or imperfect species. There is only me. Only gods!"

As his emotions rose, Ego raised his hands as if he could already see what he envisioned.

"Then what are those bones? Were they obstacles to your expansion?"

After hearing Ego's declaration, Diana somehow saw in him the shadow of her brother, the god of war Ares. If she hadn't killed Ares herself decades ago, she might have thought Ego was Ares.

No! Diana felt Ego was even crazier than Ares. Ares only wanted to destroy humanity and rebuild Mount Olympus. But Ego wanted to wipe out all living beings in the universe.

"No, they weren't," Ego replied with a smile to Diana, then continued to explain his dream. "Over the past hundreds of thousands of years, I've planted clones of myself on every planet I've visited. Hundreds of thousands, on hundreds of thousands of planets."

But just when I was about to succeed, I discovered a fatal flaw: with only my current strength, I simply couldn't complete such a grand plan. But it's okay. After some calculations, I found that as long as there are two of the same origin, that's enough."

As he spoke, Ego pointed two fingers toward Diana and Clark.

Hearing Ego's words, Clark felt a bit odd. After all, he found it strange that Ego would so openly reveal his plan in front of two outsiders like him and Diana, without holding anything back.

This plan had been going on for hundreds of thousands of years, yet few knew about it. On this tiny, moon-sized planet, there was actually a god-level entity plotting against all life.

But Clark quickly thought again—it made sense. If Odin or Thanos had known about Ego's ambition, they would've crushed him long ago.

"But the saddest part is, in all my years of travel, I never found a single Celestial. That was disappointing because it meant my dream might never come true."

Still, that's okay. If I can't find another Celestial, I'll make one myself.

From then on, I started fusing my Celestial genes with every species I encountered, hoping that through this fusion, I could create a child who could inherit my Celestial bloodline."

Unaware of Clark's inner thoughts, Ego continued his explanation, pointing to a pile of white bones behind them. "But unfortunately, they all failed."

Maybe their races were too weak or something, but the children I had with them never inherited my Celestial genes."

"You mean... they were all your children?!"

Diana stared at Ego in disbelief. There's a saying—"Even a tiger won't eat its cubs." But the children Ego had killed left behind so many bones, they formed an entire mountain of skeletons.

Diana struggled to accept this. She couldn't imagine there was someone in the universe capable of such cruelty.

"No, they weren't worthy of being my children. Without Celestial genes, they were just like those ordinary mortals!"

But Diana, you're different!

As a member of the Celestials, I believe our child will definitely inherit Celestial power. Join me! Once our child grows up, we can rule the entire universe!"

As he spoke, Ego's eyes burned with excitement as he looked at Diana. He thought, as long as Diana wasn't foolish, she'd definitely agree. After all these years, his dream might finally come true within a few short decades. He couldn't help but smile.

But Ego didn't realize that his words had already enraged another man.

Clark had been treating Ego's monologue like a story. After all, this was a big villain sharing his ambitions—it would've been rude to interrupt.

But now Ego had crossed a line. He had the audacity to set his sights on Diana. Clark intended to make Diana his female lead—there was no way he'd let some million-year-old man compete with him.

Sure, Clark knew Diana would never choose someone as twisted as Ego, but he wasn't about to let this nonsense continue.

"Are you finished?"

Just as Ego was waiting for Diana's response, Clark spoke up.

"Clark, I'm talking to Diana. As a mortal, you'd best keep your mouth shut right now."

Ego hadn't expected Clark to interrupt before Diana even answered. Clearly, Ego's earlier tolerance had made this mortal too bold.

Just as Ego was about to teach Clark a lesson and make him quiet, he saw Clark suddenly appear right in front of him.

Before Ego could even tense up, he realized why Clark was suddenly there. What to do next? Defend? Counterattack? Before he could decide, Clark slapped him across the face.

Though Ego had never ridden a rollercoaster on Earth, now he finally understood the sensation. The acceleration from Clark's slap far exceeded any ride.

Boom!

Before Ego's body or mind could react, Clark's slap sent him flying into the wall of his egg-shaped ship.

Thankfully, Ego wasn't a biological being—his clones were created using his godly power. So Diana and Mantis didn't witness any gruesome explosion of flesh. Instead, they saw Ego fly through the air like a firework and slam into the ship's wall with a burst of force.

At that moment, Diana had just taken off her outer garments, revealing the armor underneath. Honestly, she hadn't expected the fight to end before it even began.

She could sense that the Clark before her seemed even stronger than the Superman she had once fought beside.

After all, during their battle against Doomsday with Superman, his speed didn't feel as overwhelming. But this time, she hadn't even seen Clark move—it was like he vanished and reappeared instantly.

Having dealt with Ego, Clark looked toward Mantis. Though he hadn't interacted much with her, he could tell Mantis was a pure and kind alien girl. So he didn't plan on hitting her.

Besides, now that Ego was defeated, Clark figured Mantis might know how to get them back to Earth. So he asked her, "Mantis, do you know how to fly this ship?"

In response to Clark's question, Mantis shook her head. "Ego never taught me how to fly his ship. And… he's not dead yet."
