Chapter 88 - Chapter 89 I’m really going to be blown away

Fastest update of "Clark in the Marvel Universe"!

Just after Clark slapped Ego to death, deep beneath their feet, a giant face formed of energy appeared at the planet's core.

"Clark!" the massive face called up toward Clark's position. But perhaps because it had no vocal cords, it emitted no sound.

"He's not dead?" Clark was surprised—he had just smashed that egg to pieces.

"Could it be...?" Clark suddenly recalled what Ego had told them earlier: he was the planet beneath their feet. What they had seen before was merely a projection—a small clone of himself.

Mantis' next words confirmed Clark's suspicion: "This planet is Ego. What you just killed was only his avatar. His true core is hidden in the underground cavern."

"Looks like we'll have to go down to finish him," Diana said, glancing at the ground. She stomped hard with her foot, but even with her strength, she doubted she could hit the planet's core directly.

After all, if the planet really was about the size of the moon as Ego claimed, then its diameter would be around 3,000 kilometers. That meant they'd have to dig at least 1,500 kilometers to reach the core.

And Diana knew she didn't have the power to dig that deep. Even if she tried to run through the distance instead of drilling, it would be nearly impossible.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Just then, five thick energy tendrils suddenly shot up from the ground beside them, lashing straight toward Clark.

"Diana, take Mantis and get out of here. I'll deal with him," Clark said after realizing that the tendrils were targeting only him.

He grabbed one of the energy tendrils and, with sheer force, tore it apart. But after doing so, he felt a burning pain in his palm.

Looking down, he saw his hand was scorched, like it had been seared by fire. However, thanks to his Kryptonian physiology, the wounds began healing almost instantly.

"Superman's physical defense really is kind of low when it comes to magic," Clark muttered. He had just caught Ego's energy tendril and already his hand was burned.

If it had been a physical attack—even from Nidavellir's star-powered energy beam—it wouldn't have left a mark on his skin.

Clark realized he needed a solution. If he continued being vulnerable to magic, surviving in the Marvel universe's later stages would be a problem. Then, seeing Ego's swirling energy tendrils, a thought struck him.

If magic-based attacks are just another form of energy, what if I cover my body with energy? Could it block Ego's tendrils?

In the past, enveloping himself in energy might've been difficult. But after receiving the energy suit from the Bifrost ring at Nidavellir, Clark now possessed a kind of passive energy armor.

Normally, this suit remained hidden and required full power to manifest. Clark had never needed it at full capacity before—he'd mostly treated it as a one-time AOE move.

But now, facing Ego's energy attacks, he decided to give it a try. If it worked, magical vulnerability would no longer be his weakness.

Responding to his will, a brilliant golden light flared around him, illuminating the cavern like a mini sun.

Even Diana, who had already escaped with Mantis, saw the golden radiance bloom inside the cave.

The suit's appearance was visually stunning—but more importantly, once activated, Clark immediately felt his strength and speed double.

He also realized that increasing the energy output further enhanced the suit's effects—though this also meant increased energy consumption.

Clark had long known that the suit could only use its own stored energy. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't recharge it with his own power.

It had a 24-hour cooldown, making it a once-per-day trump card. It could either be used as a power boost or a one-time attack—not both.

Clark roughly estimated he could maintain the double-strength state for about one minute.

Of course, if he wanted to increase the multiplier, he could—but each added multiplier cut the duration in half. For example, 2x would last 5 minutes, 3x just 2.5 minutes, and so on. The upper limit was unknown.

Still, he figured the boost likely couldn't increase more than 1x per second—so using it wisely mattered.

Once the energy suit was fully active, Clark noticed that when he grabbed another of Ego's tendrils, it no longer burned him.

With this discovery, Ego's only real advantage over Clark vanished.

"So it can block magical attacks. Ten minutes is more than enough to deal with Ego."

Crushing Ego's energy tendril in his hand, Clark ignored all incoming attacks, focusing the energy from his body into his right foot.

He quickly noticed that, with the energy suit active, he no longer needed time to slowly charge energy—his thoughts alone could instantly route energy to any part of his body via the suit.

In less than a second, Clark's left leg was filled with power. When he felt it was ready, he raised his right leg and stomped down—hard.

BOOM!

Far away, Diana felt the ground tremble. Then she saw the cave Clark had been in ripple like waves of water. A moment later, the ground around the cave began to sink.

As the entire cavern collapsed, a radiant golden figure emerged from the dust where the cave had once been.

The sun had not yet set, but in Diana and Mantis's eyes, it was as if there were now two suns in the sky.

As the ground's collapse slowed, they saw that same golden figure shoot downward again.

BOOM!

Another deafening explosion followed. The ground began collapsing once more.

"He... is he going underground?" Mantis asked, her voice trembling as she watched the golden Clark flying.

"...I don't know," Diana replied softly, her eyes fixed on Clark.

Meanwhile, far below, Ego was going crazy watching Clark's movements.

He had never expected the man he once thought to be a mere mortal would turn out to be this powerful. Ego realized that if Clark continued fighting at this pace, he might be destroyed before Clark even reached the core.

And if someone had been watching from outer space, they would have seen the entire Ego-planet trembling with each of Clark's strikes—like a helpless child under assault.
