Shortly after Clark arrived in Tokyo, a giant tail suddenly emerged from the surface of Tokyo Bay. It was 25 feet (about 7.6 meters) tall, and a rough estimate suggested the tail was about 20 meters long.
Its appearance caused panic among families living along the Tokyo coastline. No one knew what kind of monster this tail belonged to, or whether it had the ability to come ashore. If it did… most people didn't even dare to imagine the consequences.
"Mom, will Ultraman come to fight the monster?" a child on the beach asked his mother after seeing the monster's tail.
"Yes… yes, he will, right?" the mother replied uncertainly. She had never seen a monster before. She knew the U.S. had a powerful Avengers team, but wasn't sure if Japan had anything like that.
"Run! Run! That monster is coming this way!" someone nearby suddenly shouted. When the mother looked up, she saw people all around her fleeing. Turning back toward the sea, she saw the huge tail inching closer to the shore.
Seeing the tail approaching rapidly, the mother didn't have time to think. She grabbed her child and ran.
Scenes like this were common along every part of the coast where the monster's tail was visible. Even an idiot could understand that whether the monster came ashore or not, just being near the coast was dangerous enough. Who could even think about tomorrow's weather now?
Because Clark and his group arrived on an international flight, they landed at Narita International Airport in Chiba Prefecture, about 65 kilometers east of central Tokyo. So, while they had arrived in Tokyo, they were unaware of the tail's appearance in Tokyo Bay and the chaos unfolding there.
However, even though Clark and the others couldn't feel what was happening, the live broadcast on TV presented the scene perfectly before their eyes.
"Banner, I'll go check it out first. You follow as soon as you can," Clark said. He didn't particularly like Japan, but seeing a monster appear like this, he couldn't just ignore it.
After all, if the monster didn't have advanced intelligence, then it likely followed biological instincts—and densely populated Tokyo would be an ideal hunting ground.
"Alright, you go ahead. I'll find a way to drive there," Banner replied. He knew that only Clark could get to the monster quickly. So, he wasn't surprised at all when Clark left him behind.
After speaking to Banner, Clark turned to Diana. "Are you coming with me?"
Diana simply nodded and said, "I'll go with you."
Clark nodded in return, and his clothes immediately transformed. People around him saw a man with an "S" on his chest and a red cape on his back rise into the sky, carrying a beautiful woman in his arms.
"It's Superman!" Most people recognized Clark the moment he took off. There were plenty of Superman cosplayers around the world, but none of them could actually fly. So, the moment Clark lifted off, anyone who knew the name Superman instantly identified him.
"Superman is here! That monster is doomed!"
"Wow! I actually saw Superman with my own eyes!"
"Superman was just standing next to me! Oh my God!"
…
"Huh? Why can't I remember what Superman looked like just now…"
As they watched Superman's figure disappear into the distance, many who had just gotten off their flights or were entering the airport sighed in amazement. To the Japanese, Clark was like a movie character—someone who only existed on screen. So, seeing him in real life triggered such intense reactions.
At that moment, Banner emerged from the crowd that had nearly caused a stampede. Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he glanced at his wrist monitor showing a heart rate spiking over 150. He closed his eyes to calm himself down.
"He almost came out," Banner muttered. Because of Clark's sudden appearance, the crowd surged toward where he had just stood, like crazed fans rushing their idol. Banner was nearly trampled.
Fortunately, Banner had good emotional control. This little incident wasn't enough to trigger his transformation. After all, in Thor: Ragnarok, Banner almost died from a fall and still didn't transform. Well… maybe he did die.
Despite causing a stir at Narita Airport, Clark quickly left with Diana and flew toward central Tokyo. Because the distance was over 60 kilometers, even Clark couldn't monitor everything happening in Tokyo. He had no idea where exactly the monster had appeared.
But that didn't matter. Clark knew that once he reached Tokyo Bay, he would find the creature. Yes, Clark intended to capture it. From earlier conversations with Banner, he knew that this monster was one of Banner's targets in Tokyo. And Clark suspected Tony would be even more interested.
Clark even thought, If this monster turns out to be easy to tame and looks cool, maybe I could keep it as a pet. After all, most people have cats or dogs, and even those who raise tigers or leopards usually meet tragic ends. But imagine owning a pet that's dozens of meters long—that'd be awesome.
"Found it!"
After arriving in central Tokyo, Clark discovered that the monster had already landed.
When Clark saw it, he thought it looked weird. The monster's head was completely out of proportion to its body—small and resembling a mix of lizard and snake. Its body was large and oval-shaped, with a pair of thin legs on each side and a long tail at the back. It didn't have scales, but its skin was more rugged than crocodile skin, and its back was covered in backward-facing barbs.
All in all, no matter the angle, the creature looked ugly. As it moved, gill-like slits on its sides dripped some kind of fluid onto the ground. It looked disgusting—like if it kept leaking, it would die.
"Forget it. It's so ugly, I'd better just kill it."
Clearly, the monster's appearance disgusted Clark enough to make him give up on the idea of keeping it.
So, after setting Diana down safely, Clark flew above the monster again. His right hand began to glow with golden light—he was ready to smash this revolting creature with a single punch.
