In Volume Six of The American Comics World, the moment Dr. List flipped the switch, a powerful electric current instantly struck the blue gem at the tip of the Mind Scepter. After all, the Mind Stone was one of the six Infinity Stones. The energy required to activate it was, in fact, not much less than what was needed to activate the Tesseract.

However, thanks to HYDRA's many years of construction and preparation in Sokovia, supplying this amount of energy was not difficult. Moreover, they could provide it repeatedly—something clearly demonstrated by the dozens of experiments they had already conducted.

Once the Mind Stone within the scepter accumulated sufficient energy, it began to emit an invisible force. Although this energy could not be seen with the naked eye, Dr. List and the others were able to observe the process clearly through the laboratory's energy-detection instruments.

They could see the energy released by the Mind Scepter slowly transferring to Wanda and Pietro, who were lying on beds along the railings they had set up.

"Ugh—"

"What—?"

As the scepter's energy surged into their bodies, Wanda and Pietro immediately let out suppressed groans of pain. Yet despite the overwhelming force of the Mind Stone, the resilient siblings merely stared blankly as waves of agony tore through them. Unlike previous test subjects, they did not scream.

As the electrical stimulation continued, vast amounts of energy poured out of the Mind Scepter and flowed through their bodies. Once inside, the energy instantly shattered and eroded everything it encountered.

The pain of genetic erosion caused Wanda and Pietro's bodies to tremble uncontrollably. Through the monitoring screens, Dr. List and the others could even see streams of energy moving within their bodies—the raw power of the scepter.

"Doctor, I think this experiment has failed again."

Seeing their reaction, one of the assistants beside Dr. List spoke up. After dozens of experiments, they knew all too well that once such rejection symptoms appeared, the experiment was effectively over.

"Alright. Get ready. Go in and clean up afterward, then prepare for the next experiment."

Dr. List gave the order expressionlessly while watching Wanda and Pietro suffer on the monitor. As a HYDRA scientist, he had conducted countless human experiments. In fact, more test subjects had died by his hand than soldiers had died on the battlefield.

To Dr. List, a failed experiment—and the deaths of two subjects—was entirely normal.

But just as they were about to collect Wanda and Pietro's bodies, nine overlapping realms appeared in the sky above Greenwich, London.

Then, perhaps influenced by the strange phenomenon of the Nine Realms converging, the Mind Stone's energy inside Wanda and Pietro suddenly calmed down. The once-aggressive energy unexpectedly began to merge slowly and gently into their bodies.

However, Wanda and Pietro—now unconscious—had no awareness of what was happening within them.

"Doctor… they're not dead."

After the experiment ended, two researchers in protective suits approached the twins. What was meant to be a routine cleanup quickly turned into shock when they discovered that both subjects were still alive—and showed no signs of dying. They immediately reported this to Dr. List, who had already begun preparing for the next experiment.

"Hm?"

Upon hearing the report, Dr. List stopped what he was doing and rushed to the lab. After examining Wanda and Pietro's physical data, he discovered that although they had suffered some damage, they were overall… healthy.

This was unbelievable.

In the past, even the rare survivors who gained abilities could never be called healthy—their genes continued to collapse under the strain of the scepter's energy.

But Wanda and Pietro were different. Tests showed that their genes were stable.

Yet normality itself was the greatest abnormality.

Although Dr. List did not understand what had happened to them, he knew that if this mystery could be solved, research on the scepter might enter an entirely new phase.

"Keep them here. Move them to an A-class isolation ward. Then send all experimental data and previous vital-sign records to my office."

After brief consideration, Dr. List issued his orders. He believed this experiment had likely succeeded—if not a major breakthrough, then at least a partial one.

After all, Wanda and Pietro were not going to die anytime soon.

Dr. List concluded that the difference must lie in their bodies. The experiment itself was no different from previous ones, so the only variable was the twins themselves—their shared bloodline.

Meanwhile, beyond HYDRA's Sokovian base, something unusual was also happening on Skull Island, where the new Avengers headquarters had been established.

At the exact moment the Nine Realms overlapped above Greenwich, the Godzilla resting near the shoreline seemed to sense something. It suddenly stood up and let out a thunderous roar toward the sky.

As it roared, the air inside its mouth shimmered under extreme heat. Then, in the next instant, a torrent of red flame erupted from its jaws, shooting straight into the heavens.

At first, the blast resembled a flamethrower, but soon the red flames gradually turned blue, growing thinner and more concentrated.

In the end, the fire transformed into a blue energy beam, piercing straight through the sky—and even melting through the barrier above Skull Island itself.
