Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: Escape and Preparation

They had just killed the male angel.

Keisha's mother was stunned by her daughter's strength.

Keisha offered a sheepish smile.

"Maybe... I'm just more suited to combat?"

"...Alright then." Her mother seemed to want to say more,

But her eyes flicked to the distance.

Where Keisha's father was still locked in fierce battle with other angels.

She immediately tensed up.

"Your father's still fighting, we need to help him!"

"Got it!"

Keisha nodded, her voice full of resolve.

After her first real battle,

She now had confidence in her strength.

And excitement surged through her,

She was finally starting to understand the power she'd received from the chat group.

And those men surrounding her father?

Of course she had to help.

And so,

Keisha and her mother charged toward the battlefield.

Unlike Keisha's side,

Her father was severely outnumbered.

Facing off against three male angels,

He was fighting with everything he had,

And still, his body was riddled with wounds.

"Didn't expect you to last this long,"

one of the male angels sneered, voice laced with mockery.

"You've held your own against the three of us… but this is the end of the line."

As he spoke, his strikes came faster, sharper, more ruthless.

Keisha's father could only grit his teeth and hold on.

He'd known this might be a one-way trip.

He was ready to die here if it came to it.

As long as Keisha got away safely, that was all that mattered.

Every second he could buy was worth it.

And then,

A black shadow streaked across the sky.

Before anyone could react, it slammed straight into one of the angels.

A silver flash followed.

A clean slash.

The angel's arm went flying across the battlefield.

A spray of blood painted the air.

"AAAHHHHH!!!"

The angel clutched his mangled shoulder, screaming in agony.

Another figure flew in behind him,

One swift motion, one clean cut,

The angel was decapitated.

"What the hell just happened?!"

The remaining two angels stood frozen, shocked and clueless.

They hadn't been watching their surroundings.

Their attention had been locked onto Keisha's father,

They hadn't even noticed the death of their comrade.

Even Keisha's father was stunned.

"Keisha?! What are you two doing here?!"

Keisha's mother stepped forward.

"We finished off the other angel and came to help you."

"I, well… alright."

He had wanted to tell them to leave,

That it was too dangerous.

But if they had taken down an angel on their own...

There was no point.

Especially since,

Now there were only two enemies left.

He could handle that.

It would just take a bit longer on his own.

The two remaining angels exchanged glances.

And in each other's eyes, they saw the same thing:

Panic.

How did it suddenly become just the two of them?

What were they even fighting for anymore?

They should run.

The decision was mutual, instantaneous,

They split off in two separate directions and bolted.

Keisha's father didn't hesitate.

"Split up and chase them!"

With that, he took off after one of them.

Keisha's mother immediately followed the other.

Keisha hesitated for half a beat,

Then chose to follow her mother.

But the chase was far from easy.

Keisha's mother was slightly slower than the male angel she pursued.

She couldn't close the gap, in fact, it was growing wider.

Keisha was faster,

But she'd never really flown before.

Her lack of experience showed quickly.

Her flight was unsteady, her control poor.

The gap continued to widen.

Eventually, Keisha's mother pulled back.

She realized this pursuit was futile.

Worse yet, it could be a trap.

And they might get separated from Keisha's father.

She turned to Keisha and said:

"We should stop. There's no point chasing him now."

Keisha slowed to a stop, still confused.

"Let's find your father. We shouldn't split up."

"…Okay."

And so, mother and daughter gave up the chase.

They turned around and headed in the opposite direction.

Hours later,

They found him.

Keisha's father was still alive, but wounded.

"Dad! Are you okay?!"

Keisha rushed to his side, concerned.

"Relax, I'm fine," he replied with a carefree smile.

"The last guy made a desperate move before he died, that's all. It's over."

"Did you two catch your target?"

Keisha shook her head.

"No… he was too fast. We couldn't keep up."

Her father didn't seem disappointed.

"It's fine. Let's find a place to hide first."

"Now that one of them got away, they'll be back with reinforcements."

"And even if they hadn't, "

"The Angel King would eventually notice something was wrong and send a search party anyway."

Even though he tried to sound casual,

Keisha could see the frustration on his face.

But she said nothing.

After all…

She could deal with the Angel King herself.

All she had to do was post a task in the chat group.

If Master Carl took the job,

No angel, no king, no army could stop him.

"For now, let's grab what we need from the carriage and move on."

"Alright."

The three of them headed back to the carriage and retrieved some supplies.

As they packed, Keisha's father suddenly spoke:

"Keisha… how do you know that taijutsu technique?"

He had taught her swordsmanship,

But not taijutsu.

Because he didn't know it himself.

There was no way she could've learned it from him.

Keisha answered honestly:

"I saw that angel use it once, and… I just picked it up."

That was the truth.

She had watched it once,

With her Sharingan.

Of course,

She didn't mention the chat group.

It would be too hard to explain.

Her father laughed in amazement.

"Is that so? Seems our Keisha's a combat genius after all."

Her mother chimed in too, smiling proudly.

"Incredibly gifted."

Keisha just smiled.

And the three of them began their journey north.

Meanwhile,

"Damn it!"

"That bastard! The others are all dead!"

"They killed them all!"

The surviving male angel flew at full speed across the sky, cursing nonstop.

As one of Hua Ye's soldiers, he was used to being cocky and arrogant.

He never thought he'd lose his comrades like this.

If he hadn't escaped when he did…

He'd be dead too.

This couldn't be kept quiet.

He had to report back to the King.

A few days later,

He arrived at the Angel King's palace.

Without hesitation, he rushed inside.

Before he could even speak,

A lazy voice echoed from the throne.

"What's with all the panic? Where are the others?"

"My King… I'm the only one who made it back."

The angel lowered his head, his voice subdued.

"The other three were all killed."

"The enemies were two female angels, and one male angel."

"…Oh?"

Hua Ye raised an eyebrow, then said nothing.

Moments later,

He began to laugh, low and wicked.

"You dare touch my soldiers?"

"No matter who you are, there will be a price to pay!"

He turned to one of the angels standing nearby in the throne room.

"Mobilize 3,000 angels. I'm leading this campaign myself."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

The angel bowed and hurried off to make preparations.

Hua Ye smirked coldly.

"Three thousand angels… and I still won't find you?"

"Let's see how far you run this time."
