Chapter 1 - The First Encounter

Rose`s pov

Finally! I thought this shopping would never end. It was really hard choosing that dress. At least it worth my time and of course money. Hehe. It was really expensive but really fashionable and made of long-lasting fabric. Its color was white, a dazzling white. No words can describe how happy I was right then. Smile on my face disappeared as soon as my foot stepped outside of the shopping mall.

Why does it have to rain now?! I think fate had other plans for me. Ugh!!! So annoying!

I didn`t even bring my umbrella today. It was sunny a few hours ago. How did it turn into rainy weather already? There was nothing I could do, so shielding my head with my hands, I ran with all my strength. I had to stop a taxi. I was desperately waiting for the taxi when that luxurious looking, sleek and expensive black car sped past, its tires slicing through the water puddle.

Fate really had other plans for me — or more precisely, for my dress!

Before I can react, a wave of dirty rainwater surged up, drenching me from head to toe. My once-pristine clothes clung to my skin, ruined

"Bastard!!!" I yelled on top of my lungs. My voice sharp with outrage, not caring what will others think. To my dismay, the car slowed down. Red brake lights flared, and after a pause, the vehicle reversed until it was level with me. The tinted window rolled down, revealing a face I didn`t expect, one that didn`t belong to some old businessman, but to a boy around my age. He wasn't just any boy — he was strikingly handsome, with messy black hair that suited him perfectly, and unusually sharp features that didn't match his youthful appearance. His eyes held a certain amusement, as if he were enjoying watching my fury unfold.

I, on the other hand, just stood there staring at him — soaked and miserable.

I wiped the rain from my face, my chest rising and falling too fast. "Do you drive like that on purpose, or was that your first day behind the wheel?"

He let out a short breath that almost sounded like a laugh. "Relax. I didn't see you standing there."

"Funny," I shot back. "Because I saw the puddle just fine."

He shrugged, casual to the point of arrogance. "Then we saw the same thing."

That answer made my blood boil. "You could've slowed down."

"I did," he said smoothly. "Just miscalculated."

"Miscalculated?" I repeated. "My dress is ruined."

His eyes flicked briefly to the soaked fabric. "White wasn't a smart choice in this weather."

I stared at him in disbelief. "You're criticizing my outfit now?"

"I'm making an observation," he replied. "You seem emotional."

Emotional.

"Just apologize!" I snapped. "It's not that hard."

He paused only long enough to make it irritating. "If I say I didn't mean it," he said, "will that make you feel better?"

I hesitated—and he noticed.

"Thought so," he added, voice light. "Look, I assumed you'd step back. Most people do."

That sentence landed like a slap. This is NOT an apology.

"So, you did see me," I said coldly.

He gave a small, unapologetic smile. "I saw a possibility."

A possibility.

Rain soaked into my shoes, anger curling tight in my chest. "You're unbelievable."

"And you're still standing here," he replied easily.

Does this guy think I'm a wizard or something—supposed to fix my ruined mood, dry my clothes, and magically teleport home? "Hop in" he said, his voice smooth and attractive, filled with arrogance, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I let out an incredulous breath and looked away, refusing to acknowledge him.

He leaned slightly against the steering wheel and said "If you don`t get in, I won`t leave anytime soon."

I clenched my jaw, willing him to lose interest. I was standing in the rain still in my soaked appearance.

But this guy! Had no intention of moving, let alone leaving.

I tried to move somewhere else to catch a taxi, but every time, he pulled up right in front of me, making sure no taxi could stop. The cold started seeping into my bones. I stole a glance at him, and that guy was still looking at me with that smug smile. Frustrated, I gave in.

With a frown, I yanked the door open and slid inside, wrapping my arms tightly over my chest. The moment I entered, I was enveloped in warmth. The soft leather seats beneath me was warm, sleek and convenient, stark contrast to my damp, miserable state.

His wealth was really visible from his car, he was ridiculously rich!

"A bastard huh?" that jerk asked teasingly.

With a huff, I glanced out the window. Too bad there wasn't anything worth seeing—just a road swallowed by fog. Fine, let's just pretend I'm a tourist. I stole a glance at him from the corner of my eye, but—ugh—he was already staring back. His gaze pinned me in place, sharp and unreadable, as if he were studying me.

After a few moments of silence, he finally spoke. "Where to?" That's when I realized we were already in my neighborhood. My mind must have drifted off while I was thinking, which explained why I hadn't noticed. But still—how did he even know my neighborhood? Whatever. "Just turn left after twenty meters, near the third apartment—you can drop me off there." I said with irritated tone. I wasn't about to give my address to a stranger, but I didn't really have a choice. I was already in his car. I haven`t met anyone so arrogant and rich before.

"Turn right here," I said, my voice edged with even more irritation.

He let out a low murmur of amusement. "You give directions like you're ordering someone around."

I shot him a glare. "You should've just left me earlier, so yes, I will order you around. If you don't like it, then let me out."
