Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Awakening the Martial Soul

"Ugly kid, you go first," Su Yuntao casually pointed at Tang San.

Suifeng covered his mouth and snickered. Turns out Master Su is a member of the Appearance Association after all.

Tang San shot Suifeng an annoyed glare and stepped forward.

"Place your hand on the crystal ball and concentrate."

Tang San followed the instructions, closing his eyes to sense the energy within the blue crystal ball.

A warm energy enveloped his body. His Xuan Tian Technique—which had long been stagnant—suddenly surged. Something inside him seemed ready to burst forth.

"Ah~!"

Tang San couldn't suppress the sound and let out a low cry.

"Blue Silver Grass??? Sigh, trash martial soul," Su Yuntao said helplessly as he looked at the small blue blade of grass floating above Tang San's right hand. This kind of grass was common all over the Douluo Continent—completely unremarkable.

Tang San curiously looked at his hand, where the small grass floated weakly, thin, and fragile. But he also felt something in his left hand struggling to emerge. Still, remembering how the other kids only had one martial soul, he quietly clenched his left hand, hiding it in his palm.

This small detail didn't escape Suifeng's eyes.

Suddenly, the blue crystal ball shone with an intense light.

"This... this is innate full soul power!!! How is this possible? How can Blue Silver Grass come with innate full soul power?!" Su Yuntao was shocked. When I awakened, I only had level 2 soul power, but this kid...

"Sigh, what a pity. If it were any other martial soul—even a feather duster would be better than Blue Silver Grass."

Su Yuntao shook his head in disappointment. There goes my chance at promotion and a raise...

Ignorance is a terrible thing.

"Next. Pretty boy, come over and put your hand on the crystal ball," Su Yuntao said warmly to Suifeng, his change in tone blatantly obvious.

"Mm-hmm." Suifeng nodded obediently, clearly enjoying the attention. "Okay, Uncle."

Su Yuntao coughed awkwardly, "Ahem... I'm not married yet, just call me big brother."

Suifeng scratched his head innocently. "Huh? So if someone's not married, you call them 'big brother'? Then if you never get married your whole life, do I have to call you big brother forever?"

Su Yuntao felt a headache coming on and quickly changed the subject. "Ahem! Focus your mind. Feel the energy inside you."

Suifeng closed his eyes and began to sense the energy from the crystal ball—it felt like something was being drawn out.

It's coming, it's coming! It's about to break through—just a bit more...

"Ah! Ah~!" Suifeng also couldn't suppress his voice.

Suddenly, the entire hall filled with wild wind, making it hard to keep one's eyes open. At the same time, Suifeng felt a hot, violent force surge into his eyes. He instinctively shut them tight, but even then, streaks of golden light leaked from within.

However, Tang San and Su Yuntao missed this scene entirely—both had their eyes shut from the wind and didn't witness this miraculous moment.

When the wind subsided, they opened their eyes.

"What just happened?" Su Yuntao asked, puzzled. He had never encountered anything like this before.

Where did that wind come from???

Tang San was also confused. Thanks to his frequent training with the Purple Demon Eye, he seemed to have seen a streak of golden light radiate from Suifeng—but the wind had been so strong, that he wasn't sure if it was real.

Suifeng shook his head. "I don't know either. I just opened my eyes too."

Su Yuntao was speechless. You're the one awakening your martial soul, and you're telling me you don't know what happened?

"Stretch out your right hand. Let me take a look."

"No martial soul? That's strange..." Su Yuntao was confused. There's no such thing as someone on the Douluo Continent without a martial soul.

"Let's test the soul power."

The crystal ball once again emitted a dazzling glow.

Another SSR?!

"Innate full soul power again???" Su Yuntao was on the verge of breaking down. First a trash martial soul with full soul power, and now this—someone with full soul power and no visible martial soul?

Impossible! Su Yuntao stroked his chin. Something's off... It wasn't that he had no martial soul—it was likely just well hidden. After all, full soul power was no joke!

As long as it's not a garbage martial soul if I report this up the chain, I could finally get that raise... and marry my beloved Sisi.

"You—take off your shoes!" Su Yuntao said seriously to Suifeng.

"Uh? Take off my shoes? Why?" Suifeng asked, confused.

"There's no one born without a martial soul. Maybe yours is just hidden deep. Let big brother help you look for it," Su Yuntao replied in an unusually serious tone—though whether or not it was scientifically accurate, even he wasn't sure.

Come on, who thinks a level 26 Grand Soul Master knows everything?

Seeing Su Yuntao wasn't giving up, Suifeng reluctantly took off his shoes.

Su Yuntao carefully examined Suifeng's delicate feet but found nothing unusual.

He gave them a touch—soft and smooth—not the sign of a martial soul awakening.

He had heard from a sub-hall elder that some martial souls manifest as a part of the body.

"Big brother, that tickles~ don't touch me there~," Suifeng said shyly.

Su Yuntao snapped back to reality, quickly let go, and awkwardly explained, "Don't misunderstand—I'm just checking your body."

Suifeng blushed and twisted bashfully. "I get it, big brother... after all, it's been so long since you've had a girlfriend."

Su Yuntao was exasperated. Why does this kid talk like he's begging for a beating???

"Ahem, take off your shirt, I need to examine it more closely."

"Huh? But there are others here…" Suifeng protested in disbelief.

Su Yuntao's face darkened. "I'm not a pervert—just do it."

"Oh, so you're into group activities... sigh~" Suifeng muttered, but still took off his shirt.

In reality, Suifeng was just joking around, trying to distract and delay so no one would pay attention to his eyes. With no strength to back himself up yet, exposing his high potential now would only bring trouble.

As for becoming stronger? He had a system—skills weren't necessary. The bread would come. So would the milk.

He didn't need to depend on any faction.

"Hmm? Nothing... normal. Ears, nose? Normal. Open your mouth... all normal." Su Yuntao examined him thoroughly and finally looked into Suifeng's big, clear eyes.

Suifeng calmly met his gaze, keeping the Radiant God Eye under control, his eyes staying pitch-black like an abyss.

As long as I get through this moment, I'll be fine. Master Su Yuntao has missed plenty of geniuses in his time—one more won't make a difference.

"Eyes are normal too. That leaves only one more place..." Su Yuntao hesitated. That part is... awkward. If anyone saw it, they might think I'm some pervert.

But for Sisi, I—Su Yuntao, Master Su—am willing to risk my reputation!

He looked at Suifeng, gritting his teeth.

"Come on, Suifeng... roll up your pant leg. Let big brother check~~~"
