Sounds of endless explosions and bursts of fire erupted before the Konoha encampment.
Not just Chiyo, but every other Sand Ninja knew it they had fallen into a trap.
"You..." Chiyo turned her gaze toward the Sand Ninja beside her.
"Lady Chiyo, I truly didn't know!" the ninja replied, his voice trembling with nerves.
"Enough nonsense. Break through!" Chiyo commanded coldly. Since they had been outmaneuvered, they could not afford to continue a reckless assault. Doing so would only result in the Sand Ninja suffering even more devastating losses.
However, they had barely begun their retreat when countless Kunai whistled through the air toward them. Trailing behind each blade were burning Explosive Tags.
Faced with such a barrage of Kunai and paper bombs, the Sand Ninjas' expressions shifted drastically. They immediately wove hand seals to manifest defensive Ninjutsu.
Pillars of sand and earth rose from the ground, catching the Kunai just before they detonated.
Fire and debris splashed everywhere. By the time the coordinated explosion ended, the Sand Ninja had lost even more men.
The sight made Chiyo want to cough up blood in frustration. She had been completely baited, and her reputation was being dragged through the dirt.
"Kill!"
Konoha ninjas appeared from all directions, surging toward the Sand Ninja.
The Suna-nin met them head-on. Since they had been discovered, they had no choice but to fight their way out.
"Don't get bogged down in combat! Retreat while you move!" Chiyo shouted. Three puppets hovered around her, dancing under her control to strike down Konoha ninjas while forming a revolving shield against incoming attacks.
Nearby, a Sand Jonin was tearing through the Konoha ranks, attempting to forge a path for the others to follow as they scrambled toward the rear.
"Tianyuan, leave that Sand Ninja to me," Kushina Uzumaki said, her eyes locked on the rampaging Jonin.
"Be careful," Tianyuan told her. "I'll go deal with Chiyo."
"Are you sure? Maybe I should go," Kushina offered.
Tianyuan gave a slight smile and vanished, leaving only a few words behind. "Don't worry. To a certain extent, I am Chiyo's natural counter, just like Master Tsunade."
Kushina nodded and charged toward the Sand Jonin.
Among the forces present, these two were undoubtedly the most exceptional performers on the battlefield.
"Die!" Chiyo hissed, manipulating a puppet to lunge at a Konoha ninja.
The ninja used a Kunai to block the puppet's initial strike, but he was caught off guard when a hidden mechanism in the puppet's chest clicked open. A bolt, gleaming with a cold, lethal light, was poised to fire point-blank.
"Oh no!" The ninja's face went pale. He had no time to counter, let alone defend.
Just as he resigned himself to death, a violent tremor rippled through the air. The puppet attacking him was instantly reduced to a cloud of splinters and scrap metal, scattered across the ground.
A young man's back appeared before him a silhouette that felt familiar.
"Master Tianyuan!" the Konoha ninja cried out in relief.
"Watch yourself," Tianyuan said.
"Yes, sir!" the ninja replied instantly, turning back to rejoin the fray against the other Sand Ninja. He wasn't worried about Tianyuan's safety in the slightest.
Though Tianyuan had only just arrived at this front, many in Konoha were well aware of his strength as a Jonin. He was the genius hailed for surpassing even Kakashi.
Chiyo's expression darkened as she watched her puppet get pulverized. What disturbed her most was the realization that it hadn't been destroyed by Ninjutsu, but by pure Taijutsu.
"Is he like Tsunade?" Chiyo's face was grim. Puppet Masters like her found Taijutsu specialists with Monstrous Strength to be their ultimate counters.
"The famous Puppet Master of the Sand, Lady Chiyo?" Tianyuan's gaze shifted to her, his eyes holding a strange, pensive light.
The Player had just issued a mission: Defeat Chiyo to obtain half of a high-definition Dragon Ball video.
Dragon Ball videos were exceptionally rare, especially high-definition ones. Previously, a standard Dragon Ball video had granted him Bukujutsu, while a high-definition one had rewarded him with Senzu Beans. Everything from that world was a top-tier treasure.
Since the system had issued the task, Tianyuan was determined to see it through. Even if it was only half a video, it was worth it; he was certain the other half would appear eventually. That was the system's pattern.
After receiving so many videos, Tianyuan had begun to grasp the logic of his "Gold Finger."
"Konoha's genius, Tianyuan?" Chiyo said, her voice heavy. Rasa had arrived earlier, and she was well aware of his defeat at Tianyuan's hands. At the time, it hadn't been through powerful Ninjutsu, but through overwhelming Taijutsu that Rasa had been brought down.
He was exactly the kind of Taijutsu powerhouse Chiyo loathed most.
"Indeed, it's me. Lady Chiyo, you certainly had a clever plan, but it's a pity it failed. This time, your Sand Ninja will be leaving with more than just a few scratches," Tianyuan said, glancing at the heavy casualties surrounding them.
Over a hundred ninjas might not seem like much in the grand scheme of the war, but for a single engagement, the death rate was staggering. Ninja warfare usually consisted of small squads; losing so many at once was a rare and bitter blow.
"This time, Konoha has won," Chiyo admitted.
"Actually, I have quite a bit of respect for you, Lady Chiyo. Your toxin attack was a real eye-opener. To think you could create a drug with such high infectiousness..." Tianyuan's eyes flickered. That contagion was so potent that a single touch meant certain infection.
"How were they treated?" Chiyo asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.
"They have indeed been cured. In fact, many of the people fighting here now were among those infected," Tianyuan replied.
"Tsunade has already left Konoha. Could it be that your village has produced another genius Medical Ninja?" Chiyo's voice sank. She had been incredibly confident in her poison.
She didn't believe anyone could have devised an antidote in such a short time. And yet, reality had just slapped her in the face.
"I apologize, but that would be me," Tianyuan said nonchalantly.
"You...?" Chiyo's pupils shrank violently. She believed him, but that only served to increase her shock.
Is this what it means to be a genius of Konoha?
"Truly," Chiyo praised, "you live up to your reputation."
"It's a shame, Lady Chiyo, but I'm going to have to make sure you stay here," Tianyuan said with a wide, predatory grin.
