Chapter 26 - Chapter 26. Socalization

Ally Miller sits beside a chamber, as she manifests a blob of shadow, formed into the loose shape of a limb inside. As the various sensors push on it, one tries to sample it, another reads the heat of the shadow mass. As she hums quietly, with her ears, and tail formed. As Bruce Banner stands nearby. "Ok... it's done, you can stop." She does, as instantly her ears, tail, and the shadow mass disappear. Bruce looks quietly at the data... with a slightly confused look. She asks, "So... any results?" He says, "It's... material. At least. Shows a resistance, and density on the readings. Thou the sensors say it fluctuates constantly, the mass... and density." He gestures, as a hologram moves, and shows a graph of it going from nothing to something, fluctuating, and then something to nothing as she deactivates it. She says, "Well... good I guess." He nods, "Thou, material samples, and electron scanning microscope say... well it is made of particles, just ones about 1,281 times bigger than atoms. Honestly... uh... I am surprised. It has a heat... density... all of that." He quietly wonders, "Is... all of the fox realm made of this?" She replies to his casual question, "Likely. Mr. Fox said it was a realm made of an energy form, that follows thought." He is quiet. "Well, yeah. Would explain the shifts in the material."

As she sits in her bedroom in Avengers Tower, she says to Karlen, "So what you been up to?" He replies, "Exploring, snooping. Ya know that Thor loves hotdogs. I did not. But beyond that, informing Mr. Fox of their tests." She is quiet. "What does he think." Karlen replies, "He shrugged, and said whatever. Just said to give what they find out to him, as he does not have such scientific instruments to measure the fox realm." She replies, "What is he, a scientist?" Karlen nods, "Well, he often does study physics, quantum gravity, and such." She goes quiet, "Gezz."

The next day, Karlen is visible, as Banner says, "Uh... please go over the scale, Karlen." Karlen looks annoyed, and moves his shadow-on-the-wall cartoon fox figure over the devices. As Banner looks at the data, and his eyes shift. "Gezz... ok. So a mass of 82 kg, it can read your weight still. Thou it is randomly shifting between 82, and 91." Karlen smiles, and grows his arm into a hammer, as it goes to 131 kg. "Duh, of course it measures weight. I got real mass in here." He shifts his arm back.

Banner asks, "Can you stop humming Ally, I want to see his mass when he is invisible." She does, and her ears, tail, and Karlen disappear quickly. As the mass... stays unchanged. "So you can trigger pressure plates, or weight detectors." Ally says, "He says, yes. But he can avoid it by..." His mass goes to 0.81 kg. "Well... he just thinned his body very slim. He also says he can just go on a ceiling or something, or thru a pipe, or vent if he wants." Banner nods. "Ok... Ally, I want to weigh you, and see what your mass is, in, and out of activation." She nods, as Karlen moves off the scale, invisible to Banner, but her eyes follow him. Then she moves onto the scale. As her weight is constantly shifting at random between 162, and 182. As he says, "Uh... manifest?" She nods, hums, as her ears, and tail become real... and her weight is unchanged. Still the same fluctuations. Banner says, "Odd." She looks over at a wall, and says, "Karlen says it's because I still have fox matter, even if it's not being displayed, or has physicality. Only if it loses energy will it disappear." She is quiet for a while, thinking. But then looks at Karlen, invisible on the wall because she has not chosen to make him such. As she says, "Oh... he says that Mr. Fox said it's like Dark Matter." Banner asks confused, "Uh... ok? Does he say anything else about it." Ally says, "Lots of things, like the fox realm's spacetime is formed from this energy." Banner looks pale. "It can make anything. Well... mimic anything. But it needs a mind, stabilized by reality to do so." Banner nods, and sighs, rubbing his head, "Well... regardless. I think that's enough testing for now."

Ally sits with Thor, as he drinks booze, and watches the Human TV. "Oh, I love this Midgard show. It's full of drama, tragedy, and action!" As they watch Game of Thrones. She says, "Never watched it, thou I have watched other shows. Never got interested in it." As she drinks a cup of milk. Thor says, "Well it's as you call, a must watch, unfortunately, I have many responsibilities, and too few time for such leisure." She says, "Yeah. Thou I am surprised a god of thunder like you enjoys Earth's entertainment this much." He nods. As she shifts uncomfortably in her seat. Her invisible tail is being sat on. It's always so uncomfortable, some chairs now. She sighs, as he looks at her. As his eyes spark with lightning slightly, and he says, "Your tail caught?" She looks at him surprised, "You can see it?" He nods. "Magic is in the blood of us Asgardians. I need to actively look for it, but I can see it. Thou Karlen I can't see, he needs to announce his presence for me to sense him." She sighs, "I only got a tail a few months back, and it's a pain in the ass. Despite being invisible, and intangible, I had doors shut on it, sat on it too many times, and had far too many issues with it. Human stuff is not made for tails." She rubs her head, venting. He nods, "Well... such is to be expected. When I arrived here, their culture was quite an odd one. No shouting, no legends being shared, their politeness was unusual for me, as it's usually reserved on Asgard for the grandest occasions, and even then, it was seen as a place of respect to be out there. Here... it's odd."

She nods, and says, "Yeah, understandable." He says, "Perhaps the tail will feel better if you manifest it?" She frowns... it does feel more real, thou gains the ability to be truly caught in a door, and feel pain. She says, "Yeah... but... uh." He says, "It's your nature is it not?" She says, "I am not sure how to manifest it without at least humming." He says, "Your powers are controlled by the emotions in your songs, yes? Just feel then. It's how I control my thunder." She shifts in her seat, sighing. "Only Mr. Fox can do that." As she sits up. As she sits, she wears a black skirt, a white fluffy blouse, with flowers. High heels on to deal with her whole fox-movement issues. As she wears sunglasses to cover the static-filled, slitted pupils. Her hair is long, and brown... but... it has hints of white growing in. As Thor says, "Yes, but are you not his equal? Just younger, you need to learn your power! To show your strength, and destroy, and push thru the obstacles, barriers, and enemies!"

She sighs deeply. "I don't know... I just... everything fell to shit after this happened. I lost my job, I lost my control... I just... wanted to help, and now I can. But... hell, I can't go to a store, eat at a restaurant, or more, without getting stared at. People watching me like I am a freak, because I walk like an animal, or I make whimpers, or my... attention is so animalistic." Her head snaps to him animalistically, "I just... can't control it anymore. Then there is Mr. Fox, who is always so... strong. Put together. He knows himself, he knows the realm, and he can control it perfectly. I can barely call shadow foxes to arms." Thor shakes his head, in disappointment. As he pauses the TV show. "Lady Ally Miller, you are plenty capable of all Mr. Fox is. You destroyed many enemies in a helicarrier, you helped save the world with the Captain, and Natasha. You are plenty capable. I get stared at all the time, I just go with it. It's fine to be stared at, it's fine to be not normal, as somewhere, there is a place where you are normal."

She frowns deeply, as she looks away slowly. As her hands shake. She unconsciously whimpers in an animal way. As she shakes her head, "Sorry... I uh... just... I guess I miss being human. When it was simple. When I did not feel things so... uncontrollably. One thing about me, is that the realm effects me, it keeps... making my emotions hard to hide. It's so..." Karlen sighs nearby, as Thor's head snaps over to Karlen's location on the wall, invisible. "That... is just being true to yourself my mate. There is little that can be said, beyond... feeling, and continuing on." She blushes slightly at Karlen. Thor says, "I am not sure what Karlen said. But... if that is the cost of being you, expressing the gifts you have, then you must manage the costs. If the costs are emotions... then... well... I am not the best at this, but as my mother would say, you must feel them. As thus is needed! When I was fighting the Terinak tribe, and saving those within them, I needed to feel every emotion. That is part of being alive, being strong, being good!" She nods quietly. She sighs, and closes her eyes, as slowly... black figures from her head, and behind slowly form. Gaining solidity, fox ears, and tail. Until they appear somewhat solid. She keeps her eyes closed, as she slowly shivers. Then begins to cry, and shakes, as they disappear suddenly, as she wipes her tears. "S-Sorry... I think I should g-go." She leaves the couch, as Thor watches her walk away. With her animalistic movements, and shivering.
