Chapter 1 - Evolution of Chaos

Kenji Ishigami walked down the silent street in the dead of the night. He was sporting a black leather jacket that hugged his body perfectly plus his faded jean shorts that fitted the jacket.

His silver hair tousled over due to the wind and his eyes darted around. His expression remained neutral, almost as if he expected something to happen. Kenji stopped walking for a moment and looked at the starry sky.

"It is about time."

Kenji is someone who had been reincarnated two times back into this world and these two times, he had chosen the same path which had led him to the same end— death.

In his first life, he had been given two options.

Power or Truth.

He had always chosen power. His desire is always to grow stronger. What did he need the truth for? Even if he discovers the truth and mysteries of the universe, it would not in any way help in his self development. And yet, he had been killed when the starry sky ruptured into chaos.

"Chaos?"

He chuckled. Two times, he had lived through the chaos only to realize that humanity was completely wiped out since none of the superhumans were capable of absorbing the tyrannical power of chaos. Those who dared only ended up being condemned to death.

Kenji is one such person. He had died twice and this would be the third time.

Kenji did not know why he always got such an end but ever since he got the ability to reincarnate back even after death, it simply tells that there's something that he had been missing. Something that he wasn't doing right . In the spur of the moment, his powers have evolved past immortality, however even with immortality, he was fated to die each time chaos is unleashed into the world.

Kenji sighed.

"What would happen if I choose power again? This is the third. Maybe knowing the truth wouldn't be bad."

Kenji had cases with "three" (3) this figure is very dangerous. Anything more than this current number would be severe.

Imagine dying for the fourth time and not able to reincarnate. Which would mean that he'd over used the ability to be reborn. So it is only plausible for the ability to shift to someone worthy of making the right choice.

Truthfully, anyone who saw the choice before them would rather go for power instead of the truth. In hindsight, the more power one becomes, the more respect they receive. They could even transcend the heavens themselves, shocking the universe. This is exactly what power is all about.

Kenji released a tortured breath. He stared at the sky only to notice that the stars were starting to vanish.

The starry sky became an empty sky in a few minutes, shocking Kenji.

In his previous lives, star shattering had taken almost a couple of hours and yet, the terrifying chaos had extinguished the stars in a few minutes.

The chaos was becoming alarmingly powerful and very soon will surpass the limit of human transcendence. Kenji suddenly realized that this was his last chance.

He would definitely be reborn, but his choice had to also be different this time. If not, the moment chaos surpasses the limit of human transcendence, no one would be able to stop it from spreading.

At this time, the sky would have collapsed and then it would rain chaos which would bring an apocalypse into the world— but it actually took some time. Maybe, giving Kenji time to gather his wits for another grueling death.

Trying to resist the wild energy would be very foolish so, even with his boundless strength, Kenji was ready to die.

And finally, a thin line spread from the sky and immediately obscured the emptiness, making it seem as if the night was pierced with an impenetrable darkness.

Kenji's aura changed.

His black jacket flailed as a gust of wind pushed back a great deal of dust. His body slowly drifted off into the sky as he observed the eerie blackness which depicted the nature of the chaotic energy. Kenji's eyes suddenly widened, and he spat out blood in horror seeing the structure of chaos for the first time.

Then his body was stoned into the ground like a meteor from the sky.

The impact riled up a shockwave that shattered buildings nearby, killing thousands of people in it.

Kenji's heart suddenly bled. The apocalypse hasn't started yet but he has already killed innocent humans. What would happen now?

Immediately the sky cracked.

From the crater created by Kenji's fall, his pupils dilated. The crack that appeared suddenly spread from a thin line. In the next seconds there was a spiderweb display in the sky and in a deafening thunderclap, the sky shattered.

Kenji suddenly felt true horror.

It wasn't like this in the previous two lives. Chaos has grown expønentially and it is absolutely normal that the nature of apocalypse descent changes. Kenji immediately understood that he would never forget this particular death.

The next few seconds, human cries filled the sky. Just a single drop of chaos had melted the plain, flattened so many houses and destroyed buildings. Kenji did not know what to think.

The power was extremely wild. Kenji moved into the sky.

Many superhumans approached the center of Isekai City and they drifted into the sky along with Kenji.

Among these superhumans, Kenji is the only one who had attained immortality which is pathetic because even his immortality was incapable of stopping this wild energy.

"Tanaka, I haven't experienced anything like this in my 300 years of existence."

The man, Yamamoto, stared at the phenomenon with a strange expression on his face.

The other superhumans, Ishita and Hidefumi stared at the swirling blackness. None of them knew that they would die. Only Kenji knows how it would end.

Chaos would take over the universe and transform into something far more sinister that whatever is born into the universe again is unable to resist its tyrannical power. Which is why time is always reversed back to the past in order to prevent the future from bearing fruit.

"Senior Kenji. Can we hold this back?"

Kenji turned towards the middle aged man. Kenji is only 22 years and yet an immortàl. It was strange for an old man to call him senior, yet he had grown numb to it, since he's heard it a lot of times in his past life.

He offered a smile.

"Whatever happens, let's try to survive."

Kenji did not try to get their hopes up, but at least it is wise that they prepare themselves for death so that they don't regret dying afterwards.

Kenji looked up as he saw the last line— the thread, holding the sky in place, stopping the chaotic energy from descending and like a twig and like a mirage, this line snapped and the final barricade created by the already collapsed sky dissipated, allowing this chaotic energy to descend swallowing all of humanity.

The moment this energy descended, no one could resist it. Everything was swallowed and snuffed out.

The only thing that remains is the emptiness of the void which drifted through black masses endlessly.
