Chapter 5 - Episode 5: The truth unravels

Previously on Nathan's Journey, Nathan has been forced further and further into the monster the world thinks he is, Nathan is talking and realizing what he's gotten stuck in over a drink with the bartender. But now Nathan must decide what his next move is... Will he turn himself over or will he continue to find the truth? We'll see...

{It resumes to Nathan's choice.}

"Well."

He finishes his fifth glass of coke whiskey. (He looks the Bartender in the eyes.)

"I'm gonna find out the truth behind this, I'll keep fighting to prove my innocence!!" Nathan slicks the hair that covered his eyes in grief and pain back filled with determination to keep moving forward.

"Good answer." Says the Bartender as he takes the glass away.

"Hey I want another!" Says Nathan playfully

"You've had enough bro. Plus." As he looks at Nathan who looks like he doesn't even have a penny on him "And how did you plan on paying for more drinks?"

"Um..." As he fumbles through his pockets for money.

"Don't worry man, those drinks before were on the house." Says the bartender with a kind gentle smile.

"Thanks bro, because if I was being honest." As he whispers to the Bartender.

"I don't have any cash on me."

"I figured as much bro." The bartender whispers back.

"Okay fine man." As he looks over to the Tv hanging in the bar.

The TV shows the report of both CJ's and the Addicts death. The scene transitions to the News report.

"Good afternoon everyone... If you've just tuned in we are here in North Shore where is apparent that two people have been reported as Dead... And there has been eye witness that it was the infamous Nathan Sanders that has committed these murders... What sick bastard would kill two homeless men , men with nothing to take... One of them... Joseph Catling... He was my father... And seeing his body like that was..." She says this in tears her voice cracks, full of distaste and hatred for Nathan Sanders. "Nathan... Your the man I hate the most... You killed my father... He had nothing, when the world turned their back on him even my mom left him and took me away from him. That man had already been through the worst, why..." She breaks even more the tears overflowing across her face "I swear... On my life... You won't get away with this Nathan Sanders!!" She yells at the camera, Nathan he feels like she's staring directly into his soul.

"My God... I didn't know CJ was her father..." Says Nathan gasping about to shed a tear.

"What you thought he was just a nobody with nothing? That man would come in here for a drink, I'd always let him have it for free because I knew he needed it. The only thing that was keeping him going was his daughter. He kept dreaming of seeing her one last time, as when his wife divorced him she took everything. Even her, he kept pushing forward hoping to see her again, but unfortunately that day never came." Says the bartender painfully as he looks up at the TV seeing Joseph's portrait.

"Now I really wish I stopped him before he..."He regrets that moment l, maybe if he stopped him in time Joseph would still be alive...

"Don't think like that, it was out of your control, you didn't put that gun in his hands, you didn't tell him to pull the trigger. He was already going to do it even if you stopped him. The hope had already left his eyes." The bartender says as he's pouring a drink for a different person.

"Still I just..." Says Nathan as he looks to the Tv.

"Don't hurt yourself with those regrets because they'll haunt you the rest of your life. Think of this as his final wish was for you to prove your innocence not to end up like him. So you can honour his final wish by clearing your name." He says as he puts the bottle away in the cupboard behind him.

Nathan looks down thinking deeply about the bartender's wise words.

"I'm not only fighting this battle for me."

"But for him as well!!" As clenches his right hand tight.

The bartender smiles as he hands Nathan a napkin.

"This is the password to the security room, the guards are only on night shift."

Nathan grabs it and looks at the Bartender in shock

"Thank you so much man, I'm in your debt."

"Don't sweat it, just comeback for a victory drink when you've proven your innocence." He winks at Nathan as he turns away walking out the scene.

"CJ's dream, his dream I swear on my life I will do this!!" He declares inside his mind as he stands up and sneakily moves to the back where the security room is.

"Okay, 09-12-22" The door unlocks as the atmosphere darkens as the door opens.

"I'm in." Nathan says as he slowly walks in.

"This should contain my proof that I didn't kill Emily." He looks to the footage.

"Oh my god!!"

What will he find?

We'll see...
