Her eyes finally met his again. "I can't give you full answers now. But I can promise you one thing. Before that time comes or not long after I'll be done. I'll be done with everything I need to face. Everything I've been holding back… I'll face it and finish it. And then…"
She let her words trail off just a little before finishing with quiet strength, "…if you still want to push forward with all this… then I won't stop you. I won't say no."
Mark blinked slowly, digesting her words. He still didn't fully understand what Cecilia meant, or what this thing was that she needed to handle. But he could see it in her eyes it was important. Deep. Serious. And he respected her enough not to push right now.
Instead, Mark smiled faintly. He leaned back in his seat, rubbed his palms together, and nodded.
"Alright then," he said. "We'll talk more about it later."
And with that, he turned forward, gently tapped the back of the driver's seat, and said with pride in his voice, "Let's go eat."
