On the ground, Velka's body was completely wounded with several open injuries. She had seen most of what happened in the battles up close and couldn't do anything except stare in terror as that portal turned into a giant Nartheis, summoning several dark-looking meteors around itself directly toward the city.
'I can't move my body… someone please help me… I… I…'
Tears streamed down her eyes nonstop until she saw a Nartheis rushing forward, spreading its magic throughout the entire city. When that happened, she was enveloped in darkness, and a second later, she and a few other civilians were far from the city of Vesparello.
'A Nartheis saved me?'
Even from afar, she could see a dark aura chasing someone relentlessly, heading straight toward the giant Nartheis. Losing consciousness from the unbearable pain, she fainted while the shadows of Elowyn and Narisse looked at her with hostility.
"Narisse, prepare the prison for traitors. I'll make her regret this."
'Yes, princess.'
Since the two still didn't know she had been controlled, they still saw her as a traitor and ordered some guards to lock her somewhere until they returned to Sanos.
"It seems we were saved by a Nartheis."
"This is certainly humiliating for me, princess… not having the power to protect you, and on top of that, being saved by that creature."
"Maybe he isn't just a creature."
"What do you mean, princess? Did you discover something about him?"
Elowyn's eyes focused on Vaen, who had the same essence as Enrico, and she immediately realized who he was—after all, only one person could make her eyes feel so calm, even though he was a Nartheis who should have the essence of monstrous colors around him, while he had none.
'Looks like I have even more reasons to make him my consort… and the best part is, he won't be able to refuse since I know about this new power of his.'
Vaen arrived exactly where the ninth circles were fighting the Kairom-level entity and at least fifty Ranvil level three Nartheis at the same time. He didn't know why he had decided to protect those people since he still didn't have full consciousness, but he felt he needed to do this to survive in the future.
"Jago…"
Jago was standing before the Kairom-level Nartheis while the giant cosmic-looking being began slaughtering the lower-ranked Nartheis, completely annihilating them without caring that they were of his own race.
"No… not like this."
Trying to attack the distracted Jago, Vaen was interrupted by a Ranvil level three Nartheis appearing in front of him, which would greatly complicate his advance since he was a Ranvil level two.
"Dungeon Chains."
A new portal appeared behind the Kairom rank, chains with the same appearance as the giant Nartheis emerging and binding every part of its body. Jago tightened the chains, making it obey his commands completely, and aimed directly at where Vaen was fighting the Ranvil level three.
"Astar'kur, let's see what you're capable of."
That creature called Astar'kur didn't even have a face—only a cosmic appearance—so when a white eye opened in the center of where its face should be, the mages below felt overwhelming fear, mainly due to the absurd amount of magic gathered in the eye.
"Cosmic Magic: Rupture."
A white beam shot from its forehead, obliterating the Ranvil level three Nartheis in front of Vaen and almost hitting him if not for a barrier of a thousand white layers that appeared in front of him.
"I don't know why a Nartheis would help us, but thank you for getting the civilians and weaker mages out of the city."
Hao floated behind Vaen, with Renzou and Xuelan at his sides. The resistance level of that barrier was incredible—certainly, in a normal world it would have been destroyed instantly, showing just how strong a ninth circle truly was.
"It seems that just like with the lower ranks, the Kairom-level Nartheis have also become stronger for some reason."
"At the level he is now, it would take a ninth circle at one hundred percent, giving everything, to defeat him—with a chance of losing."
"You're right, queen of Tianlong, but that's not a problem since we have three ninth circles here."
In reality, it wasn't only them—every King also began to appear at the scene: Alaric, Dom, and Sofia, and naturally the strongest mages like Virelle and Angela, taking position in front of King Alaric.
"I don't like receiving help from a Nartheis, but since he likely saved my disciple as well, I'll overlook it."
"I hope the young master wasn't hurt too badly."
"I don't think my future son-in-law would get injured by something like this, so rest assured."
"This isn't the time for jokes, King Alaric. We must take the front."
Dom stepped forward, eager to join the fight against the Kairom-level being even though he was only an eighth circle—which spoke volumes of his courage. Alaric scoffed and focused on the Nartheis in front of him. Of course, the Kairom rank was stronger, but the ones that caught his interest were the other two: one that seemed far more intelligent than most Nartheis he had ever seen, and the other a newborn helping humans.
'Both are interesting in their own way, but today, the intelligent one must die—because I won't risk something going wrong in the future.'
They already had to deal with the invasion of the evil gods Enrico had spoken of, so adding another threat was a recipe for disaster.
"Let's finish this quick—"
"My apologies, but it seems we won't be able to stay here much longer… you see, the chains are breaking."
Surprised by Jago's words, suddenly a massive explosion erupted from the Nartheis as it sacrificed several portals that appeared out of nowhere on the battlefield—right where the mages were—which made all of them rush to protect their subordinates, leaving not even a second before a gigantic explosion occurred. A pillar of light could be seen from the moon, where a person opened their eyes in shock upon seeing that right where their hometown was, a ninth-circle explosion had just occurred.
"Sister."
