"Just because you couldn't finish something doesn't mean others can't. It's disgusting to doubt others when you lack ability yourself." These people had doubted their capabilities from the start, yet they had succeeded.
"Enough, don't waste words on them. Once our project succeeds, they'll learn Miss Rovella's true prowess."
"Hah! Finishing a proposal doesn't mean you've secured the project. How laughable."
"Let's go. Arguing is pointless. These guys were rejected alongside me in the Blue Whale Co., Ltd. interview. Losers. What could they possibly achieve?"
"You—!" They had been rejected, but so what? Did that prove they were incompetent?
Westin and Amber arrived, seeing project team members arguing. Their expressions darkened.
"What's going on?" Amber demanded sharply.
"Mrs. Evans, we were just doing our work when Miss Rovella's people deliberately provoked us!"
"That's right! They just finished one proposal and came swaggering over to flaunt it!"
"But it was you who—"
"Enough!" Amber cut off their explanation. "If you don't want to stay at Blue Whale Co., Ltd., you can leave right now."
"We were hired by Miss Rovella. We won't leave unless she tells us to!"
"Is that so? Get them out now!" Amber called security directly. A few pieces of trash daring to defy her?
The three remaining team members were physically dragged out by security.
Amber glared at the others. "Remember this: If you want to stay here, work hard. Don't waste time causing trouble."
"Yes, Mrs. Evans."
Westin and Amber returned to the CEO's office.
"Kicking out her people like that... how will you explain it when she gets back?" Janelle was a loose cannon now, capable of anything.
Amber shot Westin a look. "Westin, what do you mean? I merely fired a few people. Are you scared?"
Seeing Amber was angry, Westin pulled her into his arms. "Amber, you know my heart belongs only to you and Lillie. I'm just afraid she might hurt you." Janelle dared to lay hands on even Nelson!
Amber nestled against Westin's chest. "I will personally drive Janelle out of Blue Whale Co., Ltd." If Janelle, with nothing, could be this arrogant, what would happen if she truly gained control? She'd never let them go.
"Speaking of which, any news from the border? Have they found Madalyn?" A lunatic like Madalyn must be in the sanatorium, uncared for. How could she be hard to find?
"I have people searching. But Madalyn seems to have vanished. Completely untraceable." This frustrated Westin too. Finding Madalyn, getting her under their control—that would make Janelle obedient. But the cunning girl must have anticipated their move and hidden her mother.
"We must find Madalyn." Amber wrapped her arms around Westin's neck. He hadn't slept with her in a while. Was he seeing someone else? Her hands began to wander suggestively over him.
However, Westin, exhausted from overindulgence with his young secretary recently, couldn't rise to the occasion.
Seeing this, Amber grew annoyed. "Westin, don't you love me anymore?" she accused.
Westin held her waist, using his hands to pleasure her instead. "What nonsense! You're the only one in my heart. It's just... age catches up. The body doesn't obey. Doesn't this still satisfy you?"
Amber, distracted by his touch, forgot her anger for the moment. After reaching her peak, she remembered the important matter.
"Right. Janelle took Linda to the Aleens today. Did you arrange things over there?"
Westin wiped his hands with a wet wipe. "All arranged. They won't get to see Mr. Aleen." This was Graham City. Things weren't as simple as Janelle thought.
"Good. I need to get back to work." Amber left.
As soon as she was gone, Westin's young secretary slipped in. She looked at him sulkily. She'd heard everything happening in the office.
Seeing her displeasure, Westin immediately pulled her onto his lap. "What's wrong? Unhappy? Alright, get back to work. I'll make it up to you properly tonight."
The secretary settled on his lap. "Mr. Rovella, do you truly like me? If... if I were pregnant, would you let me keep the baby?" she probed cautiously.
"What? You're pregnant?"
"Yes. I'm pregnant. The doctor says it's a boy. Do you want him?" Westin had two daughters, but no son. Rich or poor, men desired a son to inherit their legacy. The secretary was gambling—betting he wanted a son.
Sure enough, learning it was a boy, Westin hesitated. The secretary was just a fling, a young plaything. But carrying his son? That changed everything.
"Mr. Rovella, you don't want him? Fine. If you don't want him, I'll go to the hospital tomorrow and get rid of it. I won't cause you any trouble." Hearing she might abort his son, Westin was displeased.
"I want him! I want this child. You will give birth to my son!" Westin had always regretted having no heir. Now, he could have a son. Back in his hometown village, no one could laugh at him anymore. As for Amber... she should understand. She couldn't give him a son. That wasn't his fault.
Janelle, Linda, and Kevin had already been waiting at the Aleen Group headquarters for over an hour. Still no sign of Mr. Aleen.
"Miss Rovella, they're doing this on purpose, aren't they?" Kevin whispered. Deliberately avoiding them after they'd waited so long? It felt like an insult. The Aleen Group, headquartered in Imperial Capital, wielded immense power. This was their first major project in Graham City; scrutiny was expected. But refusing to see them at all was excessive.
"Go ask again," Janelle instructed Linda.
Linda approached the executive assistant's desk. "Excuse me, any update on when Mr. Aleen might be available?"
"I'm terribly sorry, Mr. Aleen truly has no time today," the assistant replied perfunctorily.
"That's not what you said earlier!" Linda struggled to suppress her anger. Were they being played?
Annoyed by Linda's tone, the assistant became curt. "Mr. Aleen is unavailable. You can either keep waiting or leave."
The assistant made no effort to be polite now.
"You—!" They had a confirmed appointment. How could he suddenly have "no time"?
