Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Listen to Me, Take a Good Rest

"Kid, are you heading out for another mission this afternoon?"

In the Senju Tobirama residence, Tobirama's questioning gaze landed on Renya.

Renya nodded and said,

"We didn't encounter any danger during the last mission. I plan to take on another one this afternoon."

Generally speaking, if no one on the team was injured, Renya would continue to take on new missions after completing the previous one.

If someone was seriously injured during the mission, they'd wait until their teammate recovered before picking up the next one.

However, in recent times, the three of them hadn't sustained any critical injuries during missions. As for minor wounds, Koharu could heal them quickly.

That's the advantage of having a medical ninja in the squad—it saved a lot of time during missions.

As a result, the three of them were out on missions almost every day.

Upon hearing this, Senju Tobirama frowned slightly in displeasure.

"You just got back, and now you're heading out again?"

At this rate, the kid was practically becoming the top workhorse of the mission assembly hall.

"Is there a problem?" Renya looked a bit confused.

If he didn't go out on missions, how else was he supposed to grow stronger?

If he lacked strength, what would happen if he died in a future war?

He had a feeling this old man didn't want him taking missions at all…

Noticing Renya's expression, Senju Tobirama spoke earnestly:

"Taking missions is good, but you also need to rest. Human energy is limited. You're taking on missions too frequently and not getting enough rest. That's very dangerous!"

Renya was slightly stunned when he heard this.

He felt that Senju Tobirama had a point. Constantly going on missions without sufficient rest was indeed problematic.

After all, missions were tedious and dangerous work.

Being in a high-stress environment for too long could easily lead to mental issues.

In that regard, Renya admitted he hadn't thought things through.

He silently sighed to himself, "As expected of Senju Tobirama… sharp as ever, pointing out my problem in one sentence."

Seeing that Renya seemed to take it seriously, Tobirama seized the moment and added, "Listen to me… take a good few days of rest before accepting any more missions."

"Mm. You're right!" Renya replied earnestly. "I'll go tell Danzō and Koharu now."

"Good, as long as you understand." Senju Tobirama nodded in satisfaction.

Watching Renya dash off, he sighed with emotion.

"Finally managed to talk that kid into it. Not easy at all…"

In reality, he hadn't had Renya's cooking in a long time. The lunch earlier hadn't been nearly enough, so he had to coax and manipulate him into staying.

Also, it had been ages since he last researched Uchiha physiology.

With that thought, he pulled out the [Uchiha Observation Manual]. It showed that the last experiment had been six months ago.

Ever since Renya became a ninja, he rarely had opportunities to study him...

...

"Renya, are you serious? No missions for a while?!"

At the Shimura compound, Danzō clenched his fists in excitement, his body trembling slightly from sheer joy.

If Renya weren't here, he might've thrown his head back in laughter.

Damn it, finally—finally some rest!

When he first saw Renya arrive, he thought it was to drag him out for another mission. He hadn't expected such great news instead!!!

It's not that Danzō hated doing missions—but come on, every single day?

Unless they were seriously injured, they didn't get to rest.

With this pace, even a jōnin wouldn't be able to handle it—and their squad had been doing this for an entire year!

They were ranked number one by a landslide on the mission hall's leaderboard.

In just one year, they completed over 200 missions!

"Danzō, I understand how you feel, but Tobirama-sama is right. We really do need a break." Renya saw Danzō trembling and thought he was angry, so he quickly tried to reassure him.

Danzō looked at Renya in disbelief.

He was too stunned to speak. Did this bastard just say something human?

Seriously? You "get how I feel"?!

If you really understood how I felt, would you be dragging us on missions every single day?!

"Danzō, take this time to rest. We'll catch up on missions later." Renya patted Danzō on the shoulder.

He was genuinely satisfied with his teammates, Danzō and Koharu. Just like him, they were both working hard to get stronger.

Danzō: "???"

His mind kept replaying what Renya had said before leaving, and he stood there dumbfounded.

Who knew how long it took for him to snap out of it. He looked up at the sky with a complicated expression.

"Maybe… I really should run away..."

Danzō felt that if this kept up, he'd drop dead from exhaustion before he ever had the chance to become stronger.

Uchiha Renya, that bastard—he really didn't treat them like people!

No, wait… that bastard didn't even treat himself like a person…

...

After informing the other two, Renya returned to the Senju compound.

Along the way, he was a little out of it. Having grown used to constantly doing missions, he wasn't quite used to suddenly relaxing.

So, he headed to the training field to practice his swordsmanship.

Senju Tobirama saw this and was at a loss for words.

Was this kid seriously this hardworking?

Renya's obsession with becoming stronger was enough to surprise even him.

"I just hope you can hold on to your true self and not stray from the right path," Tobirama's eyes flickered. "If you do… I won't show mercy."

Through his research on Renya, he'd discovered that the Sharingan wasn't just a visual-based kekkei genkai. Its power stemmed from the Uchiha clan's intense emotions—especially negative ones.

As the Sharingan evolved, it granted the user great power—but at the same time, it steadily corroded both their body and mind.

From this, Senju Tobirama had drawn a conclusion:

[It's not a good thing for Uchiha to awaken the Sharingan too early.]

"Power that is too great will twist the heart. And the power of the Sharingan is precisely the root of the Uchiha's descent into madness."

Senju Tobirama turned and walked into his study, pulling out a notebook and writing a line inside:

"The Sharingan is a gift from the gods—and also a curse. Konoha must always remain vigilant of this power, lest we repeat the tragedy of Uchiha Madara."

He slowly closed the notebook, a trace of concern flashing in his eyes.

"Kid… please don't disappoint me..."

Though he'd been satisfied with Renya's performance over the years, no one could guarantee that once Renya awakened the three tomoe—or perhaps even those eyes—he would still be the same.

If Renya couldn't stay true to himself, then Tobirama would have no choice but to personally eliminate him—cutting off the threat in its cradle.

He would never allow anything that threatened the village to survive.

Between the village and Renya, Senju Tobirama would always choose the village without hesitation.

Just then, Renya's voice came from outside the house.

"Old man, dinner's ready."
