Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: The Wisdom of the Ancestors

Senju Tobirama didn't speak. He simply picked up the scroll from the table.

After glancing at it, he found that the sealing technique on the scroll was indeed a bit complex.

But at this level, it wasn't difficult for him to unravel.

"Here." Senju Tobirama handed the scroll to Renya. "It's unlocked."

Renya was a bit surprised.

"That fast?"

He knew this wouldn't stump Senju Tobirama, but he hadn't expected it to be opened this quickly.

He thought it would take at least some effort.

Seeing Renya's stunned expression, Senju Tobirama said smugly:

"Seals of this level are nothing to me."

Then he continued, "Open the scroll. Let me see what's inside."

"You're being a bit too nosy, old man." Renya tucked the scroll into his waistband, clearly not intending to open it.

The scroll's previous owner was a senior of the Uchiha clan.

If this old guy found out, Renya might not get to keep it.

Better he didn't know anything…

Senju Tobirama's mouth twitched, but he didn't press the matter.

Since Renya didn't want to show it, then so be it.

Had he known the scroll came from an Uchiha, his attitude would've been very different.

Unfortunately, Danzō and Koharu hadn't explained anything.

Naturally, Senju Tobirama remained in the dark.

He looked at the three of them and waved his hand.

"You may leave now."

Hearing this, the three turned to leave.

Suddenly, Senju Tobirama called out to Renya.

"Kid, hold up."

"What is it, old man?" Renya turned his head back.

"I won't be coming back for lunch today," Senju Tobirama said, giving Renya a hopeful look.

He was clearly hinting for Renya to bring him lunch.

"I got it."

Renya nodded, then turned and walked away.

"So I'll just make lunch for one today, right?"

Senju Tobirama: "???"

He stared blankly at Renya's retreating figure, unable to react for a long time.

Eventually, he muttered to himself, "Did that brat get the hint or not?"

Hopefully he did. If not, he'd be stuck eating soldier pills for lunch.

Thinking of this, Senju Tobirama felt a bit of regret.

"If I'd known, I would've just straight-up told him to bring me food."

But now he felt too embarrassed to chase after him. He still had some pride.

All he could do was irritably go back to dealing with the documents on his desk.

Hopefully that kid would have the decency to bring him lunch...

...

Senju Tobirama's residence.

Renya returned to his room and immediately opened the storage scroll, unable to wait any longer.

He wanted to see what the senior had left for him.

Poof!

As the white smoke cleared, a pile of scrolls appeared on the floor.

Renya stared, a little dumbfounded.

"Don't tell me... all of these are storage scrolls?"

He stepped forward and picked one up, discovering it wasn't a storage scroll.

There were no seals on it either.

Renya unrolled the scroll and found a Fire Release jutsu recorded within.

But it was a jutsu he had never heard of before.

"Falling Fire?"

He read further.

This jutsu differed from ordinary ones in how it was cast.

Instead of firing forward, it was released into the sky.

Once in the air, under the user's control, the fireball would split into dozens, even hundreds, of smaller fireballs and rain down on the ground.

It was a wide-area offensive jutsu, rated A-rank.

Renya's eyes lit up as he exclaimed, "This jutsu is amazing!"

It would be especially effective on the battlefield.

Renya quickly flipped through more scrolls. The Fire Release jutsu recorded in them were all incredibly practical—at the very least, much more effective than the Great Fireball Technique he used all the time.

"No wonder they call it the wisdom of the ancestors!" Renya muttered as he continued flipping.

Then he opened another scroll, and his pupils suddenly contracted.

"This jutsu… it's actually here?!"

On the scroll was written:

[Forbidden Jutsu That Alters Fate — Izanagi.]

Jutsu Principle: Izanagi allows the caster to transform any negative outcome in reality, including death, into mere illusion. At the same time, beneficial outcomes from the illusion become reality. It's a jutsu that can distort the very fabric of existence.

Activation Requirement: The caster must infuse the power of a Sharingan and their own chakra into the technique to activate Izanagi.

Effect: While Izanagi is active, the user becomes completely invincible for a period of time. No attack can harm them, as all damage is converted into illusion.

Price: Using Izanagi permanently blinds the Sharingan in one eye, rendering it unusable for any future dōjutsu.

"Trading one eye for a second chance at life… that's actually a bargain," Renya commented.

Being a one-eyed man was still better than being dead.

And as long as he had enough Sharingan, he could activate Izanagi multiple times—which meant multiple lives.

This had already been demonstrated by his teammate, Shimura Danzō.

That arm full of Sharingan was practically a resurrection cheat.

Uchiha Madara had also used this jutsu to fake his death and escape.

But Renya had always wondered—if Izanagi permanently blinds one eye, then how did Madara awaken both Rinnegan?

First, he ruled out the idea that Madara used someone else's eye to perform Izanagi.

After all, it wasn't like he could pluck out his eye mid-battle with Hashirama and then cast the jutsu...

"Forget it, no point thinking about it."

Renya decided to start learning this forbidden technique first.

This way, he'd have another layer of insurance on his life.

The principle behind Izanagi was quite simple. Renya understood it after reading through twice.

Next, he began studying the Fire Release jutsu left behind by the senior.

These jutsu could definitely become his powerful trump cards in the future.

They might even break the curse that "Fire Release can't kill anyone"...

Truly worthy of being called the wisdom of the ancestors!

"I wonder how the senior who developed these jutsu ended up dying?"

...

Time always flies when you're focused.

Before long, it was noon.

Renya stopped studying his new jutsu and headed into the kitchen to start preparing lunch.

Of course, he'd understood Senju Tobirama's little hint earlier.

The reason he hadn't responded was simply to mess with the old guy a bit.

Who told him to forbid Renya from going on missions?

As if that wasn't bad enough—he even had him grave robbing!

Still, a blessing in disguise. He'd ended up receiving a senior's legacy.

Renya was in a good mood today and didn't plan to hold a grudge against the old man.

Once the food was ready, he didn't eat right away.

Instead, he packed it all neatly into a lunch box to deliver to Senju Tobirama.

"It's getting late. The old man must be hungry by now."

...

Hokage Office.

Senju Tobirama checked the time. It was nearly 1 p.m.

"Damn it. That brat really didn't bring me food!"

Senju Tobirama's eye twitched violently.

He didn't know if Renya was doing it on purpose or had genuinely missed the hint...

Senju Tobirama pulled a few soldier pills out of the drawer and sighed.

"Ugh... guess I'll just eat whatever."

Just then, he sensed a familiar chakra approaching.

"That kid…"

Senju Tobirama's lips curled into a slight smile as he put the soldier pills back into the drawer.

A moment later, Renya's voice called from outside the office.

"Old man, I brought you lunch."
