Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Show Begins

Wu Chang toyed with the Eye of Leman. After leaving the altar, the Eye of Leman transformed into a gem-like appearance, resembling a finely crafted piece of jewelry by a master, yet the touch remained as soft as flesh.

With its eyes closed, the Eye of Leman no longer emitted evil thoughts and malice, instead, it showed some signs of serenity and compassion.

"Item Name: Eye of the Evil God (Sealed)"

"Item Type: Dungeon Items"

"Artifact Level: Unknown"

"Item Skills: Unknown"

"Note: The left eye of Evil God Leman, containing the vast divine power and endless curse of Evil God Leman."

Although the Eye of Leman is in a sealed state, its level and attributes can't be displayed; either way, it's the eye of an evil god, so at the very least it should be an A-Level item.

Wu Chang tossed the eyeball in his hand and then threw it into the backpack space.

Having discovered the secret of Moonlight Sanatorium and acquired the Cursed Gold, it was now time to complete the dungeon.

Before leaving, he casually took a book from the underground library as a decoy, and read it on his way back to the sanatorium.

Most of the contents of the book introduced several famous forbidden cults, the characteristics of evil gods, and how to confront and fight them, essentially serving as a newcomer's guide to the Secret Magic Knight Order.

One page was highlighted as important and particularly emphasized.

When encountering events related to evil gods, don't trust, don't think, don't listen, don't look, and don't let them come true.

Wu Chang closed the book and wrinkled his nose; it appeared that the existence of evil gods was even more troublesome than imagined.

Returning to the building of the sanatorium, he went straight to the underground and opened the white door of the pharmaceutical room.

As he opened the door, he greeted Wolf, who was pacing back and forth inside the room:

"Hey, Mr. Wolf, just finished dinner, taking a walk?"

Upon meeting again, Wolf no longer had the composure as when they first met; he was now visibly anxious, with his brows furrowed, occasionally glancing at the ceiling, his face slightly twitching with a somewhat fierce expression.

It seemed this fellow couldn't hold it together anymore.

Wolf leapt to Wu Chang's face, asking, "You came at the right time, what happened upstairs?"

"Upstairs?"

Wu Chang showed a puzzled look and said innocently, "I was just in the director's office and don't know what happened, perhaps it was an earthquake."

Wolf only casually asked and didn't plan to learn anything from Wu Chang, but his attention was instantly diverted upon hearing Wu Chang's response.

"Director's office, you saw Randy?"

Wu Chang retrieved the Silver Crossbow Arrow from behind him and said, "I've already seen Director Randy and have initially gained his trust. Director Randy's views are deeply rooted, and I can't persuade him to believe that evil gods truly exist in a short time."

"Will Randy believe as long as there is more direct evidence?" Wolf's tone grew peculiar.

"I suppose so."

Just as Wu Chang finished speaking, he felt a shadow quickly flitting in front of him. Wolf's hand grabbed his shoulder and lifted him from the ground.

A massive, unparalleled force emanated from his shoulder, leaving him unable to even struggle.

Wolf squinted his eyes and spoke slowly, "Since you're so trusted by Randy, I'll leave this matter to you."

Just as Wolf was about to act, Wu Chang shouted out the grudge-filled last words from behind Wolf.

"Wait, Priest Sir, don't act, we are on the same side!"

"Hmm?"

Taking advantage of Wolf halting his actions, Wu Chang spoke at his fastest speed in life, spurting out his prepared identity like a tongue twister.

"The Lord's radiance doesn't cover just one land, nor just one plane. In fact, I came from another world, and am also a believer of the Lord."

"We accepted the divine oracle to recover the Lord's power, purposefully arriving in this world. I have a companion who entered the sanatorium before me but lost contact, should you find him, he can prove our identity."

Upon hearing Wu Chang mention his companion, Wolf's face showed a trace of embarrassment, and the killing intent in his eyes somewhat eased, though his tone remained harsh.

"Do I need help from useless ones like you?"

Wu Chang continued, "Our church's prophet predicted the location of the Lord's sealed power, that is, where the Cursed Gold resides, through sacrificial life. Once the Lord is resurrected, I'm willing to share the secret with you, Priest, and split the Lord's gift equally."

Wolf dissatisfiedly said, "Equally?"

"Four-six, no, three-seven, I only want thirty percent, and Priest Sir you may choose first."

Wolf released his grip, dropping Wu Chang to the ground, and said indisputably, "Two-eight."

"Alright, two-eight it is."

"Go find Randy, the evidence he needs, I can provide it shortly." Wolf waved and turned towards the cave on the inside.

Watching Wolf's back, Wu Chang raised an eyebrow. All actors were in place, everything was set up; he was indeed curious to see how Wolf would play this out.

Using his pass, he arrived at the director's office smoothly without Julie's assistance.

Inside the office, Randy was already prepared.

He donned a hunting coat with leather armor underneath, holding a large musket in his right hand, his left hand resting on the Swift Sword at his waist, and carrying an ancestral Golden Crossbow on his back.

Wu Chang inadvertently revealed the book he was holding and rushed to say, flustered:

"Director Randy, I was just in the backyard reading documents and suddenly felt the entire ground shaking. On my way back, I vaguely saw several mysterious figures in black robes entering the sanatorium; it seems the Peace Church is about to act."

```
Randy said in a deep voice, "Don't worry, I know that studying medicine won't save White Stone Town, so I also trained in shooting, swordsmanship, and fighting. Even in the worst-case scenario, I'm confident I can lead you out of here."
A three-meter-tall physical version of Lu Xun stood at the front, making Wu Chang immediately feel a full sense of security.
Just as he was about to say something, explosions and intense vibrations came from beneath their feet. As the floor collapsed, the two of them fell from the fourth floor directly to the first floor.
In the rubble, Wu Chang pushed off the debris covering him and stood up, cursing.
What is Wolf doing, nearly got killed by him.
"Dean Randy, are you okay?" he shouted around.
With a rumble, Randy pushed off the debris covering him and emerged from behind Wu Chang. He patted the dust off his body, instantly engulfing Wu Chang in a cloud of smoke and dust.
"I'm fine, where are you?"
Wu Chang: "In front of you."
Randy looked down only to discover Wu Chang, "Sorry, didn't see you there."
Wu Chang spat out the dirt in his mouth and asked, "Dean Randy, it seems the Peace Church's actions have begun, can you still fight now?"
"No problem with my equipment, but the explosion was too sudden, I didn't have time to take the medication to suppress my delusions." Speaking of delusions, Randy's expression was somewhat hesitant.
Wu Chang took out a paper packet from his pocket and tossed it to Randy, "I still have some."
"Thank you." Randy took the medication, glanced at it, and swallowed it directly.
While Randy took his medication, Wu Chang looked around. They had fallen into a prayer room at a corner of the first floor. After quickly identifying the direction, he led Randy toward the first-floor hall.
If Wolf doesn't come to find them, they would go look for Wolf.
Wolf's explosion had demolished eighty percent of the sanatorium, but the area where the dean's office was located was the least affected.
The closer they got to the hall, the more severe the building's collapse became. From the extent of the explosion, the epicenter should be in the first-floor hall.
But when the two reached the hall, they found it enveloped by a strange magic array, with dense runes covering the floor and walls, leaving the hall almost intact.
As soon as they stepped into the magic array, they saw hundreds of figures staggering out of the shadows.
Their bodies were twisted and deformed, badly decayed, and still wrapped in straitjackets.
If the guess wasn't wrong, they were all patients from the intensive care unit.
Besides the intensive care unit patients, the group of zombies also included figures in normal patient uniforms and even medical personnel garb.
The delusions of the entire Moonlight Sanatorium were ignited at this moment.
Randy turned to Wu Chang and asked in confusion, "What is this?"
Wu Chang forced himself to explain: "They are the intensive care unit patients. The hallucinogenic drugs have eroded their brains, making them sluggish and losing most of their sensations and consciousness, blindly following the orders of whoever gave them the drugs."
"But their bodies..."
"The drugs lower their immunity, causing self-inflicted wounds to fester and never heal, which is quite normal." Wu Chang answered with a calm face.
Randy: "I was talking about the deformities and mutations."
Wu Chang looked puzzled, "Mutations? Sorry, I don't see any mutations."
"Damn it, the medicine hasn't taken effect yet. It must be my delusions acting up." Randy smiled awkwardly.
He closed his eyes and slapped his cheeks with both hands, trying to wake himself up.
"Calm, composed, look carefully; they are all normal people."
With Randy's mumbling, the exorcism array beneath the sanatorium was activated. Transparent flames ignited on the zombies, and amidst their wails, all organs beyond human parameters turned to ashes.
When he opened his eyes again, the mutations on the zombies indeed disappeared.
Randy exhaled a long breath of relief and said to Wu Chang, "It was indeed an illusion."
Wu Chang was speechless for a moment; he turned his back to Randy and gave a thumbs-up.
No wonder he witnessed every event in the Moonlight Sanatorium and still firmly believed that mysticism did not exist. The ability to self-persuade needs no doubt.
"Mr. Dean, I always believe in your judgment."
Facing the surrounding zombies, Randy initially wanted to hold back and only use blunt attacks.
But after a few attempts, he found they had no pain or fear, moving like the undead. Even if their limbs were broken, they would crawl over to bite him.
Seeing that these intensive care patients were no longer considered living, he pulled out a swift sword, which was a two-handed sword for ordinary people, and began a large-scale slaughter.
With the blessing of the mysticism talent, Randy's sword emitted a white flash, easily slicing through any zombie it touched.
Combined with his enormous physique and delicate and exquisite techniques contrasting with his body, he was invincible.
It took him less than ten minutes to kill all the hundreds of zombies.
Just as Randy was about to sheathe his sword, a violent explosion erupted from below, blasting a large hole in the hall's floor.
Amidst the dust, a half-human, half-insect Wolf crawled out of the hole, exclaiming with the excitement of meeting an old friend:
"Randy, you finally decided to come out!"
Randy rubbed his eyes and looked up at the insectoid Wolf, half a meter taller than him, and quietly asked Wu Chang:
"Is this also my delusion?"
