Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Mantis Blade Masters Assemble

Wang Wu's judgment was undoubtedly correct.

His choice was also the most cost-effective.

Level 3 Concealment could help him avoid most dangers.

Though the Gray Mouse Knights were extremely furious, organizing numerous small squads throughout the morning and frantically searching through the bushes, they found no trace of him.

After all, to ensure successful concealment this time, Wang Wu didn't even take the two Gray Mouse Knights' corpses.

As the sun gradually rose, and the earth began to enter baking mode, the terrifying daytime gradually unfolded, forcing the Gray Mouse Knights to retreat and hibernate.

The entire valley returned to a deathly silence once again.

Wang Wu silently noted the direction, planning to return to the rock crevice after nightfall; after all, he's trying to exploit bugs of all kinds, avoiding combat if possible at this stage.

Today, the gigantic eagle did not come, but the sense of oppression and crisis it brought to Wang Wu remained constantly present. Yesterday, he was too insignificant to be noticed by the eagle, but if he continues to grow, sooner or later, he would become a tasty snack for the giant eagle.

The long day passed, dusk arrived, and finally, some movement began in the valley, as many Little Demon groups tried sending out vanguards to test the situation, to see if there were any Great Demons hibernating nearby, lacking martial virtue.

Wang Wu remained unmoved, he was also waiting, following a single principle: he must lay low, he must play dead, unlike the made-up Ancient Giant Bear—he did not covet it, staying alive is the best!

Finally, as it got increasingly dark, the valley became lively and bustling, and that was the moment.

Wang Wu darted out from the grass without hesitation, without taking a detour, following the predetermined direction and route with all his might.

Though quickly spotted by the wandering Gray Mouse Knights, he didn't care and didn't stop.

Of course, he also purposely avoided those big trees, small trees, and the signature traps set by Spider Sister, which he knew very well.

But even so, by the time he successfully burst out of the bushes, just as the rock crevice was in sight ahead, a dozen or so Gray Mouse Knights were already on his tail.

"Squeak, squeak, squeak!"

A particularly robust and brave Gray Mouse Knight suddenly accelerated, launching a sharp-toothed thrust at Wang Wu.

At that instant, he lost 10 points of health.

The damage was high, but it didn't topple Wang Wu.

He paid special attention to this point; the mass charge of the Gray Mouse Knights was terrifying, and getting toppled meant getting mobbed.

However, by maintaining balance and stability as much as possible, combined with the suppression of his weight and size, there wasn't much of a problem.

The only unavoidable attack was their sharp-toothed thrust, which was quite nasty; they took turns thrusting, and in just a short distance, Wang Wu's health was directly pierced for a full 70 points.

He was thrust seven times!

Fortunately, he finally managed to squeeze into the rock crevice, and although the Gray Mouse Knights above scrambled to come in,

Little did they know, Wang Wu had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

Outside, on the spacious and flat terrain, you could call him Little Xiong Xiong, but now that they've reached a narrow place, what should you call him?

Turning around, enduring the collision and thrust of the two Gray Mouse Knights upfront, even if it cost him another 20 health points, he remained fearless.

Wang Wu slapped down with two paws, instantly swatting them to death on the spot.

Their bodies became the best obstacles, causing two more Gray Mouse Knights to lose control upon collision, then, one by one, were smacked away by Wang Wu's paws with a thud and a splat.

At this point, the remaining Gray Mouse Knights squeaked grudgingly, surrounding the exterior and not daring to advance.

And Wang Wu began to feast heartily.

To be honest, the fur of these Gray Mouse Knights had quite a high defense value, even using claws was difficult to tear, and his teeth were not numerous or sharp enough, biting felt utterly ineffective.

Nevertheless, such a small problem couldn't stall Wang Wu. He had already developed an effective eating method, first pounding the way one would make rice cakes, using his paws to thoroughly hammer from head to toe, and if that didn't suffice, lifting small rocks to smash, turning them into tender meat paste, then squeezing it out like jelly, savoring the wonderful feast.

Wang Wu was eating joyfully inside the crevice, while outside, the Gray Mouse Knights screamed louder, attracting even more of them, seemingly numbering around twenty or thirty now.

Suddenly, a hissing sound rose in chorus, and under the dim evening light, at least twenty Black Snake Sentinels led by several Black Snake Assassins dashed down the cliff, launching a sudden ambush and encircling the Gray Mouse Knights.

The two sides engaged in fierce battle here, the hissing of the Black Snakes and the squeaking of the Gray Mice were exceptionally loud.

Wang Wu never expected that the Black Snake Race would join the fray at this moment.

It was indeed—spectacular.

As the saying goes, or rather, as the poem says,

Let's see the Black Snake encircle the Gray Mouse, the flags of kings change atop the castle.

You sing your song as I take the stage, perhaps hanging oneself in the southeast branch is better.

The scene was one of utter chaos, the sky and earth turned dark, the sun and moon lost their light, blood flowed and piled up like mountains.

Suddenly, a general charged out, swift as lightning, roaring like thunder, wielding a Three-Pointed Double-Edged Blade, on a Four-legged Chattering Beast, swift strikes down three snakes, biting onto a Black Snake, even succumbing to the poison, refused to let go.

Meanwhile, atop the cliff, a pitch-black giant snake, gaze cold and majestic, overlooking the battlefield as an emperor, spotted an opportune moment, preparing to charge with full force, suddenly there were firelights and thunder behind, damn, their retreat was cut off, the Flame Scorpions had come again.

Wang Wu feasted on meat and jelly, not expecting the Flame Scorpion Race to launch a sneak attack again at this time.

Too bad, too bad, the Black Snake Race, on the verge of routing the Gray Mouse Knights on this battlefield,

Had to hurriedly withdraw now.

Wang Wu sincerely sided with the Black Snake Race, for they were truly his dear friends, his good neighbors, and he genuinely longed to overthrow the bully ruffians, the Gray Mouse regime.

Alas, alas!

This side lost over a dozen Gray Mouse corpses, yet managed to retreat in order, having long forgotten Wang Wu, the instigator.

The Black Snake Race had no time to attend to him either.

Anyway, this night was destined to be exciting and bustling.

Truth be told, such is the norm.

After eating four packs of jelly, Wang Wu's satiety level soared to 300 points, and he also harvested four skins, along with four points of Spiritual Qi.

Then, utilizing Level 3 Concealment Talent and Level 1 Healing Talent, he drifted off to sleep; whatever fighting and killing outside had nothing to do with him.

An ancient saying goes, I am by nature kind.

That night was particularly restful.

Being undisturbed felt truly wonderful.

His depleted life value had fully replenished, though there was no growth this day because it was all used for self-healing.

You can't have both fish and bear's paw.

Understandable.

It's just unknown what the outcome of last night's three-way battle was.

As the ancients said, I am inherently kind.

Carefully, Wang Wu crawled out of the rock crevice and glanced outside, noticing about a hundred Wanderer Mantis Blade Masters around the bushes,

The feeling was indescribable; it seemed as if the world was upside down.

It was as if a person saw over a hundred yellow-haired punks hanging around outside his own doorstep one day; now, wouldn't it be odd if this were normal?

Wang Wu's first thought was, if the Black Snake Race had all perished, this hundred-odd Mantis Blade Masters could have charged in directly, under the storm of their blades, how could there still be a complete bear?

The narrow space of the rock crevice was no obstruction for these Mantis Blade Masters at all.

In that moment, while Wang Wu was deep in thought, a golden Holy Mantis strode out from the depths of the bushes, emitting a sacred golden glow from its pair of long blades, almost larger than a Gray Rat itself.

Regarding this, no, as the saying goes,

Look at the Holy Mantis on the horse, the lords change banners atop the battlefield wall.

After one, the other appears; it's better to just hang oneself on the southeast branch.
