Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Truth Comes to Light

As night fell, the valley came alive once more, as if the disaster brought by that giant eagle during the day had never occurred.

Clashes between clans erupted one after another, as if they were a common occurrence.

Wang Wu hid in the crevice of the rocks, managing to devour the corpse of that Black Snake Assassin, leaving not even a crumb behind, because, surprisingly, it was delicious.

It was hard to imagine, even made him briefly recall the delicacies of the human world.

This was not comparable to the meat of a Wandering Mantis Blade Master or a Gray Mouse Knight; it was tender with a springy texture, fragrant, rich but not greasy. Although the weight was only about a pound, eating it all brought him 300 points of satiety and a full 5 points of Spirit Essence.

This left him with a total of exactly 9.9 points of Spirit Essence remaining.

"So it's no wonder this guy's bite was so terrifying; this was already a Little Demon with some cultivation,"

Wang Wu remarked with a smirk. Soon after, a wave of drowsiness overwhelmed him, and he swiftly fell asleep; this was beyond his control. After all, his body was still in the infant stage, managing to stay awake for the whole day was already a testament to his strong willpower.

Fortunately, the Level 1 Healing Talent was decent; as long as there was satiety, he could slowly recover.

When Wang Wu woke up again, the sky was just beginning to brighten. He had slept well through the night without being disturbed or ambushed.

He wasn't too surprised by this.

The reason was simple, night was the time for various Little Demons of the valley to battle for territory.

The Black Snake Race occupied the best cliff territory, surrounded by numerous adversaries.

During the day, other clans dared not act rashly, so the Black Snake Race was under little pressure.

But come night, the Gray Rat Race and the Flame Scorpion Race were always looking for an opportunity to attack, leaving the Black Snake Race with no time or forces to patrol everywhere.

And honestly, in this rock crevice, as long as it wasn't a Black Snake Assassin, Wang Wu wasn't afraid of anyone else coming.

"Another new day, I can smell the stench of war,"

In the crevice, Wang Wu stretched lazily, unsurprisingly, his satiety had reset, but instead, his Growth had increased to 0.5%. Counting the previous growth, his total Growth had reached 2%, not bad, not bad. If he could maintain such growth every day, after three more months, he could evolve to the next stage.

Equivalent to growing from a human infant stage to a toddler stage.

But today's main task was to bask in the sunlight, absorb the golden particles, and gain Spirit Essence.

After waiting for a while, as the sky got brighter and numerous Little Demons rushed out from the bushes in the valley, Wang Wu also dashed out of the rock crevice.

However, this time he learned from experience not to stray too far from the rock crevice, even if it meant getting fewer golden particles; he must hold onto this base.

"Squeak! Squeak! Squeak!"

A few Gray Mouse Knights spotted Wang Wu and immediately shouted, their hateful gazes like sharp swords wanting to flay and dismember him.

There was no way around it, the jig was up.

"Squeak! Squeak! Squeak!"

Further away, more Gray Mouse Knights joined in, communicating with each other. Seizing the moment during the Purple Gold Three Minutes window, they quickly formed a small battalion of about thirty Gray Mouse Knights, clattering and closing in from all sides. Their majestic and mighty presence, coupled with their determined little eyes, exuded the charm of a medieval heavy cavalry charge.

Wang Wu naturally wasn't going to be a fool and suffer the loss, quickly darting back into the rock crevice. This was Black Snake Race territory; how dare you act so arrogantly without consulting the Black Snake Sentinels?

Sure enough, such a commotion naturally stirred up the Black Snake Race atop the cliff. They were very angry and indignant, "How dare you bully us when our leader has just fallen!" Immediately, more than twenty Black Snake Sentinels quickly slithered down to confront the Gray Mouse Knights.

"Squeak! Squeak! Squeak!"

"Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!"

The two sides were swearing at each other incessantly, or perhaps they were communicating.

Wang Wu felt a bit at a loss; these somewhat intelligent Little Demons were truly tough to deal with, and if things went badly, he might have to become a Wandering Dog Bear Warrior again today.

Being wanted by the two major Demon clans in the valley simultaneously was an honor of sorts.

But luckily, with the end of the Purple Gold Three Minutes, Golden Three Minutes was about to begin. Those Black Snake Sentinels and Gray Mouse Knights ultimately couldn't resist the opportunity for daily enlightenment practice and quickly dispersed to occupy advantageous positions.

Taking advantage of this, Wang Wu crept out again and, after a moment's hesitation, decided to leave the cliff edge and sneak away to the side.

Because he had a feeling today that the Black Snake Race would likely target him heavily.

When the time comes, forget about a single Black Snake Assassin; even a few Black Snake Sentinels would be too much for him.

Today was destined to be a day of escape, so he needed to accumulate more Spirit Essence for an upgrade.

Furthermore, he didn't intend to abandon that rock crevice; he'll return there at night.

In short, it was all about playing hide and seek.

When Wang Wu circled the cliff, he had already entered the Golden Three Minutes. The golden sunlight danced mid-air, and one could see those mysterious golden particles with the naked eye.

At this moment, even those Gray Mouse Knights had no time to bother him. Instead, many Wandering Mantis Warriors, wandering dung ball mages were wary of him. When he approached, they even made room for him.

Such kind-hearted Little Demons.

Wang Wu also showed a kind smile, squatting at the lowest silver position. He had a Level 1 Spirit Essence, and from the experience of the day before yesterday, even in Silver Three Minutes, he could absorb at least 18 points of Spirit Essence. Adding it to his 9.9 points of Spirit Essence, it was more than enough to level up.

Here it comes, here it comes!

Silver Three Minutes finally arrived. When the warm, golden sunlight shone on him, a golden light curtain instantly formed, as if draping a golden cloak over him, indeed dazzling and stylish.

Such an effect usually only appeared on Little Demons in the Purple Gold Three Minutes stage, like the Black Snake Leader snatched away yesterday, that Flame Scorpion, that Large Centipede, and the five celestial-looking White Rats.

This meant that Wang Wu's starting point had caught up with them, so no wonder they were so hostile.

Wang Wu pondered, also calculating, that he could absorb an average of 60 golden particles per minute, converting to 6 points of Spirit Essence.

Thus, by the second minute, he successfully gathered 20 points of Spirit Essence, and without hesitation, Wang Wu turned and ran.

Even though there was more than a minute left in the Silver Three Minutes, it would be too late to run by then.

While running, he quickly allocated those 20 points of Spirit Essence to his Stealth Talent, smoothly upgrading it to Level 3 Concealment.

Then, he dashed into the bushes, following yesterday's route, heading to the creek to drink heartily, gaining 50 points of satiety; without water, it's impossible to survive, too grueling.

Afterwards, he made a direct beeline for the berry thicket on the creek plain. Today, the berries were scant, likely affected by yesterday's giant eagle attack.

But that's alright, there was enough for him to eat.

As for whether this would lead to a disaster or famine for the Gray Rat clan, it was none of his concern.

"Squeak! Squeak! Squeak!"

The four Gray Mouse Knights guarding the berry bushes let out valiant cries, even attempting to charge, but Wang Wu was truly fearless of them. If any approached, he would slap them dead with a paw.

After consecutively slapping two to death, the remaining two Gray Mouse Knights dared not move, only glaring venomously from a distance as Wang Wu ate joyfully.

Of course, in reality, Wang Wu didn't dare go too far.

Yesterday, he had three minutes; today, he had only about one minute.

So after rapidly boosting his satiety to 150 points, he decisively abandoned his position, dashing deeper into the bushes. At the edge of the bushes, the unique clattering sound of a Gray Mouse Heavy Cavalry charge had already begun, truly a scene of a thousand riders sweeping over the hills.

Such trouble, such trouble.

After reaching a certain distance, he quickly ducked into a dense patch of grass, and after three seconds of stillness, the Level 3 Concealment Talent took effect.

"Since you remained still for over three seconds, you activated Level 3 Passive Concealment; most insects and beasts would overlook your presence unless you're extremely close to them."
