Suddenly, Han's voice came from behind.
"Who is possessed?"
Chaewon froze. His heart skipped a beat as he turned around and saw Han standing there, his eyes fixed on him, waiting for an answer.
Thinking quickly, Chaewon ended the call and forced a nervous smile.
"My cousin's son," he said. "She called me and told me he's been doing some very strange things."
Han stepped closer, his gaze searching Chaewon's face. They stood close—too close—until Han reached behind him, grabbed an apple, and casually took a bite.
Chaewon stiffened, uneasy at the sight. But when he noticed the apple, he quickly said, "It's not washed. Let me wash it and cut it for you."
Without a word, Han handed the bitten apple to him.
Chaewon carried it to the sink, washing it slowly, buying himself time to calm down.
Meanwhile, Han sat down at the table, resting his chin on his hand. "Then tell your cousin to take him to a church," he said simply.
Chaewon's mind clicked immediately. This is it.
"Do you… know a church?" he asked carefully.
"Yes," Han replied, meeting his eyes. "I can take you."
Chaewon let out a low laugh—one that sounded almost sinister, even to himself. Finally, the problem is solved, he thought.
But Han froze. His body tensed, and the apple slipped slightly in his hand. His wide eyes darkened with unease, as though he were staring at a stranger. He swallowed hard, his lips trembling before he finally whispered,
"Chaewon… are you okay? Please tell me… you weren't talking about yourself."
The fear in his voice cut through the room like a blade.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Chaewon quickly put on an innocent face. "I was just laughing, that's all," he said softly.
But Han didn't look convinced. He studied Chaewon with suspicion, his eyes flickering with both fear and doubt. When he finally spoke, his voice was shaky.
"Yes… but you scared me."
Trying to cover up, Chaewon sighed and said sadly, "My cousin is very worried. That boy… he's her only child."
Han's expression softened just a little. "That's sad."
Chaewon seized the chance. "Then let's go tomorrow," he said firmly.
Han hesitated, his suspicion still lingering, then nodded slowly. "Ahh… okay."
A smile tugged at Chaewon's lips. "Good. But before you go, eat something. I cooked for you."
Han stood, shaking his head. "No, I'm in a hurry. I have to meet a professor."
Chaewon frowned. "But it's Saturday."
"Yes, but I need to submit a project."
Still, Chaewon insisted gently, "Just eat a little, at least."
Han sighed in defeat. "Fine. But let me take a shower and get ready first."
As he disappeared into his room, Chaewon leaned against the counter and exhaled. He picked up his phone and dialed Seungmin's number, but there was no answer.
"Tsk," he muttered to himself. "So he disappeared again."
