Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Demon Horde Gathering

The island in the clouds is never without demons. According to the scholars of Magic Capital Thousand Tower City, this world is filled with Magic Power, thus giving birth to countless kinds of demons.

Satus Island shouldn't have very strong demons. According to Li Ang's experience, the total combat power estimate shouldn't exceed 5.

The two continued to approach the rocky areas on the edge of the island, where gathered rocks had piled to form small hills four to five meters high. Large rocks were scattered at the foot of the hill.

The demon lurking here revealed its true form.

Many beast-like creatures resembling hyenas were sprawled across the sandy ground between scattered rocks. As it approached noon, they were lazily sleeping under the warm sun.

[Desert Beast]

[A magical beast with a weak ancestral connection to the Earth]

[Species: Wolf Species]

[Combat Wisdom: Tier 1]

[Servant: None]

[Energy Source: None]

[Physical Strength: Stone-like Claws, Tier 1. Wilderness Leather, Tier 1.]

[Special Attack: None]

[Skills: Desert Adaptation]

[Combat Power Amplification: 0]

Desert Beasts are one of the most common demons, Earth Attribute, and exhibit a certain adaptive social nature—when there's no enemy, they gather among their kind, selecting a leader; when there's a stronger demon, they follow the powerful demon to survive.

They consume ores, absorbing the materials and Earth Element within to grow. Li Ang had seen Desert Beasts with a physical strength grown to Tier 5; however, their intelligence almost never increases, making them a popular hunting target for adventurers.

Their hides and claws are common materials, especially the hides, which make durable leather armor. However, due to their wild nature and low intelligence, they're often injured, making it rare to obtain a good hide.

Li Ang, seeing a system-provided demon panel for the first time, reviewed the various items on it. The panel clearly marks the demon's abilities, corresponding to the diverse strengths of humans.

Combat Wisdom is similar to professional skills, which involves whether they can combine Magic with their attributes in combat and whether they understand how to unleash special attacks. These special attacks can be seen as the demon's secret techniques.

Humans have the ability to contract summoned beasts, while demons can command servants.

Physical strength more or less corresponds to human equipment, whereas the Energy Source principle applies universally across the Aerial Realm.

The Desert Beasts in front number about six or seven, with mediocre combat power, consistent with Satus Island's lack of valuable minerals. Their fur and claws showed obvious wear, evidently a result of their playful fighting in the gravel, holding little value.

The Desert Beasts are easy to handle, but they're not the only things here.

Li Ang's gaze lifted, focusing on the top of the rock hill, where the true ruler of this rocky land resided.

[Two-legged Flying Dragon]

[The most primitive form of a dragon species demon that steps into the sky, using its flight abilities to migrate between sky islands, hunting from its aerial advantage]

[Species: Dragon Species]

[Combat Wisdom: Tier 2]

[Servant: Desert Beast Group, Tier 1]

[Energy Source: None]

[Physical Strength: Low Tier Dragon Claw, Tier 2. Low Tier Dragon Scale, Tier 1. Low tier Dragon Fang, Tier 1.]

[Special Attack: Wind Bullet]

[Skills: Dragon Race Bloodline]

[Combat Power Amplification: 5%]

The Two-legged Wind Dragon clutched the mountain rock, standing atop like a large bird, with only its wings and head covered in dark green dragon scales, while the rest had turned into gray-brown feathers, overall looking unattractive like a mottled chicken.

Normally, Two-legged Flying Dragons should be gregarious; perhaps due to Satus Island's scarce resources, this dragon was the only one residing, becoming the region's BOSS.

As the lowest tier of dragon species demons, it has already entered the selection threshold for many people's summoned beasts.

Once tamed, the Two-legged Flying Dragon is generally regarded as a Tier Two Summoned Beast.

In front of such a dragon leading the Desert Beast group, even with a 5% combat power amplification, Li Ang considered it a bonus due to the significant number of Desert Beasts.

Dealing with a group of demons can sometimes be more dangerous than dealing with a single higher-tier demon because their cooperation might trigger unexpected chain reactions.

According to experience, it's necessary to swiftly break one side.

Even though Li Ang came to mine, this isn't a rich ore point, so a battle must ensue.

The so-called rich ore is where one can directly pick up high-purity ore from the ground.

The difference between Nebis World and Earth is significant; due to the mineral-rich islands, high-purity ores often appear exposed on the surface.

But here, stones and rocks melded into one require effort to mine.

So, he can't just grab the ore and run; he must drive away the demons first.

Li Ang closed his eyes, adjusting his breath, allowing Magic Power to seep gently into the ground.

He was leveraging his Spiritual Affinity, trying to communicate with the Earth Spirit here.

In places with particularly rich spirit, he can directly perform spell writing and command the Earth Spirit to create an Earth Golem without the aid of Earth Attribute Spellcasting Materials.

However, after the Magic Power seeped into the ground, the response from the Earth Spirit was almost nonexistent.

Something's off.

Although it was just a test, he didn't expect Satus Island to magically conjure an Earth Golem, but the Earth Spirit seemed too weak, as if it had been drawn away.

Without this move, then other methods...

Li Ang opened his pouch, containing some basic materials he had picked up along the way these past two days.

Besides the previous Calming Flower, Solid Earth, and Water Mist Stone, there was mostly one kind of vine.

[Vine of Verdant Green]

[Vigorous Vines]

[Tier: 1]

[Spirituality: Adhesive Growth, Strong Growth]

[Purpose: Casting Materials, Equipment Creation]

Initially, collecting them was to throw them out at a distance, directly enclosing the ore to retrieve it, but the island's mineral points are too barren for that.

Where to start, weaving a net to catch the Two-legged Flying Dragon, then deal with the Desert Beast group first? Seems like a way.

The trouble of being a witch reveals itself at this moment.

If he were a Level 9 Mage, he could use dozens of spells to kill the demon swarm, none repeating.

Of course, he could use a curse to erase their spirituality, instantly killing them. But it would have to be one by one, emptying his Magic Power reserve after that.

Although his Secret Technique of curse art has a certain destructive power, sufficient to deal with these monsters, it also uses a lot of Magic Power. Years of adventurous habits mean he won't readily consume a large portion of his Magic Power reserve unless necessary, always retaining strength for emergencies.

Zoe gently tugged at his sleeve.

"Can I help?"

Li Ang hadn't forgotten she was there.

If it were another adventurer, he would actively invite them to fight together, but this one...

"Do you have experience fighting demons?"

"I've been here before; I wanted to pick those pretty stones, then got chased by them for a long time."

Her pale fingers pointed to a corner of the rock mountain; Li Ang looked over and saw some colorful quartz there, of no practical use. She probably just liked them purely.

With the Tier Two Swordsman profession and three pieces of Tier Three Equipment, Zoe's theoretical combat power was stronger than the Two-legged Flying Dragon, but facing a group battle, it's not viewed in the same way.

She could run away, and it seemed she wasn't injured, which was decent enough.

Li Ang sighed, this little girl was like a restless kitten always brewing new antics. If not fighting monsters with her, she might cause trouble later on.

"Alright, follow my command, can you do that?"

Zoe's eyes brightened instantly.
